Promotional consideration provided by Jerry's Automotive Group.
"After years of soldiering on with the same basic platform, Ford's little crossover has finally received a major makeover. Judging by our experience with the 2013 Ford Escape, it looks as if it was worth the wait. The new Escape stands as one of the top entries in a segment that's already packed with excellent choices." I just picked up my 2013 Titanium a couple weeks ago and I'm in love with it - it is one beautiful vehicle. Engine is very refined and powerful, interior is beautifully executed and tech is plentiful. I've had Fords in the past and have had no issues, they were cheap. This vehicle is not in the same league. Ford has produced a vehicle that competes with the competition on every level. I'm happy to buy American as it was a priority for me., and I am not disappointed!
I miss my Ford Escape 2013 Titanium. I got into a terrible accident just a few days ago and now it's been totalled. It serves me very well while I had it and it protected me during the accident. Only got two bruises and slightly hurt my wrist. I will forever miss you, my love. :(
Very good car indeed, it protected you well. I live in germany and got my Ford Kuga (in the US known as the"Escape") 6 months ago, also the 2013 model and it was still quite expensive at 28K Euro. But i love this car, best one i ever had. Wish cars here were a more reasonable price, especially used ones. I feel your loss, i´d definately be broken hearted too if anything happened to my lovely kuga ;(
I just got in an accident yesterday and it’s likely my car is totaled. I’m looking at a 2013 titanium and I hope it’ll serve me better than my tiny little Chevy sonic
Unfortunately, if your wife has always liked Toyota's it will be hard to convince her otherwise. Brand loyalty can be hard to crack. Just have her test drive an Escape with the 2.0T Ecoboost and let her try out the tech features in both cars so she can compare them. Both SUVs drive nice, but the Escape is sportier and is much quicker with the 2.0T. After rebates, the higher sticker prices brings it closer to the Toyota's levels.
I have test driven this vehicle many times now, and I can now say I will be the owner of an Escape! Unreal vehicle!
Drove this car for about 20 minutes today. Fun is definitely the right word for it.
Anyone still own this in 2020 and still in love ?
I just bought mine used with 60000 on the odometer and it drives like a new car and the body and interior has held up very well in 7 years.
Still driving mine is my I love it
The CR-V has a more spacious back seat. Both vehicles are great, the Escape is more expensive but offers more tech, a more powerful engine, and in general just feels more premium. The CR-V is more traditional and is designed for a more conservative buyer. It's your call to decide, test drive both and you decide.
Currently at this time, Ford is offering a $2500 rebate on the Escape to help offset the higher cost. You can keep the Escape's price more in check if you forgo pricey options like the $1500 panorama roof. When you buy a Titanium model, picking options like just NAV and the parking tech package will keep the sticker at a more reasonable $34,735. After rebates and incentives expect the sale price to be around $29,410. Keep in mind, this vehicle offers more power and tech vs a CR-V for example.
there is nothing wrong with taking a great idea and refining it. thats how innovation works. not trying to start a fight but I think ford has been very successful in the past 5 years with not just resting on their laurels and reputation but trying new redesigns and listening to the consumers on what they enjoy about driving cars.I just bought a 2013 escape se for my wife, she absolutely loves it. Its a nice vehicle. Because it was used I was able to get it for under 24k with less than 3k miles.
The reason why you feel more of the NVH in the Escape is because Ford designed it to be more sporty and fun to drive vs the Santa Fe which is why its smoother and more isolated. It doesn't make it a bad car, it comes down to taste. the NVH in the Escape is not unbearable it's just more noticeable. Some buyers like it and some don't. Driving enthusiast tend to like a sporty ride like the Escape.
And also this car is the fastest and most performance orientated in the segment. Its also the same engine as in the pricey Range Rover Evoque!
Bought my wife a used one in very good condition. Those 19 inch wheels really fuck the car up! It was almost painful to drive. Unfortunately someone total her car while parked late one night. She loved this car so much we found another one with 17 or 18 inch wheels and the ride was improved 100%. DON'T BUY ONE WITH THE 19 INCH WHEELS! Yes, it feels sporty but for a daily driver your back and neck will soon start hurting. Otherwise, yes, this is an excellent car!
We see your point however, this vehicle has a few more tech and luxury features that is unavailable on the RDX
Man, i just love your style of review! Your awesome bro, keep up the great work!
Right now there is $1500 in rebates for the Escape and dealers are willing to discount them.
Im so torn between the Ford Escape or Ford Fusion!! I want both jaja
I bought a new 2013 Titanium last night. I spent nearly 30 minutes testing and deciding between the Full Leather and Partial Leather seats.
IMHO the Partial Leather Seats are superior.
They have leather in all the high wear spots where you need it. They are considerably more comfortable IMHO. And, based on my tests, the seat heaters work better.
I see no need to spend $900 more (!!!) for a little extra leather in the center.
that is very true.
As long as you treat your car right and don't stress the parts too much then it will last a good long time.
My family just bought the SEL a year ago. But a warning the front wheel drive in the snow sucks! The traction control just cuts the power to the front wheels and you are going no ware. And the traction is a pain to turn off.
You are somewhat correct there. I do take into consideration the fact that our government applies an import tarrif as well as a GST onto the cost of the vehicle. But even when you apply the tarrif and GST, that still only makes the vehicle $45,850. So you are correct, the difference isn't as bad as initially thought, but there is still a difference of almost $10,00. In fact I have just been quoted $54,244 for the Diesel version on road.
I just got a 2013 Santa Fe Sport. At first this looks like a competitor, until he started driving. This car has lots of "NVH", in comparison to the Santa Fe which is extremely quiet. If you're in the market for one of these, definitely check out the Santa Fe as well.
Engines for the Mondeo(Fusion) , S-MAX, Galaxy, Kuga(Escape) are,
1.6 EcoBoost SCTI 160 BHP Petrol and 110BHP/115BHP Diesel,
2.0 Duratorq TDCI 115 BHP/140BHP/163BHP Diesel,
2.0 EcoBoost SCTI 203BHP Petrol, and they all can come with a Six Speed Manuel or a Six Speed Automatic, but if you go for a Focus it is Five Speed Manuel or Six Speed Automatic.
I think I saw you today making a review in VA Annandale behind the Jerry's ford Dealership
When I test drove it, I couldn't beleive how zippy the car was. The steering was so responsive, like I didnt need to make any effort. I totallt didnt expect this in a crossover car! this is one amazing car.
I really enjoy your reviews... Keep up the good work!
Don't let that 37K scare you. This car fully optioned out with Nav, Panarama, Parking Package is 29K on true car and you can still get 1500 in incentives on it. So its actually a really good price. No one really pays 37K for it. Most pay around 30K which is right in the segment. The CX-5 grand tourer is 29K on true car as well.
Awesome review! One of the best reviews for this car on the web at the moment. The only thing that shocks me is the price disparity. I see that the US is paying $34,735 for the top of the range model with all the bells and whistles. Whereas here in Australia it is currently going for $53,000 for the top of the range model. And this is despite the fact that the Australian dollar is buying US$1.05. Hard to see where the mark up can come from, especially the almost $20,000 difference!
Ford has been working on that transmission, they have released a software update that is supposed to improve transmission shift quality
What is the difference between 4 wheel drive and all wheel drive. Is it that with all wheel drive, the power is independent for each wheel?
I like my Titanium, but there is definitely a turbo-lag!
Seen you post in the forums before, still have the car? I have a 2013 titanium with all upgrades you could get, sitting at 59k miles wondering how yours is doing
There's a catch to the Power Taligate. If you get the Towing Package, you DO NOT get the foot control for the Power Tailgate. It's power, but the foot control is deleted.
That is a needless dose of suck.
Opps! thought of another q! my grandma and grandpa are in their mid 60's and my grandpa said he wants his next car to have everything he wants in it like heated seats, remote start, and so on so I thought the titanium model would be the best fit. But this would be their first time having a touchscreen, intelligent access, push button start, and so on also they are not the ver techy either. So I was just wondering if you think they would have a hard time cetching on to all this stuff or not?
what i wonder is can anybody just do that with the trunk? like even without the key if you're like nearby the car and someone else just does that under the trunk will it still open? thats what im curious about
Does the titanium come standard with the hidden key pad on the drivers door? How does that work and why do they offer it if you get smart key access?
Woah, where is the other Ford Escape video?
Do the turn signals work? You didn't use them.
Nice car and looks to be a winner. Questions: Does the rear seats recline, does it have a large transmission tunnel and does the side mirrors electronically fold?
I would pick the Escape hands down over the Sante Fe , and the Sante Fe is very nice !!
Might get one in a few months
I hear that alloy from friends outside the Us. I think a lot of that has to do with what kind of import Tariff's your government places on vehicles.
It would be a sweet upgrade engine from the base 2.0 GDI
The 1.6T SE Escape should be up tomorrow
Hi Sofyan, I have 2 q's for you. 1st of all my grandpa is looking for a car replace his 2011 Honda CR-V SE (special edition) because the CR-V cannot tow his boat, but he still wants the same gas milage, do you think that a Ford Escape Titanium could tow a 19 foot Crestliner boat that weighs about 2000 pounds give or take about 100 miles? Also, do the ecoboost motors really get the MPGs they say they do because my grandpa really doesn't drive his cars hard?
Oh and one more question which has a roomier back seat
Thumbs up if you think the infotainment system is like a halo helmet.
So in your opinion what is better escape or crv
Your test is very very good men. the car is nice.
The hitch blocks the sensors.
I've already ordered one. My only disappointment is that I can't have it with a manual transmission, but, oh well!
i just got this SAME car. How do you work the self parking?
does the sunroof also tilt?
Sofyan, have you driven the 2013 Santa Fe Sport 2.0T? If so how does it compare to the Escape 2.0 titanium?
do you have the santa fe sport turbo? I am considering upgrading my Sonata Limited
They need to put that 6 speed auto in the new focus cause the power shift transmission has had bad reviews
Whats the rattling I hear while your driving
Have her try and Edge, there nice as hell!
I meant the S, but I found it. Cant wait to see the SE 1.6. :)
I have an Escape SE, and there is a buzzing sound coming form the climate control area. Could anybody tell me if it's normal. I know that this isn't screen noise.
whats the name of the intro song?
Completely agree. These people are out of their minds. 37k for absolutely nothing and its a ford? Really crazy
Very nice review.. can u please help me to choose.. Its called in Australia KUGA..
i only can afford KUGA Trend.. should I buy PETROL or DIESEL..
THANKS MATE
Definitely plan on getting an escape for my next car Currently have a 2011 Subaru impreza, don't get me wrong I love my subaru its safe and awd in subarus have always been amazing, but I am looking for a bigger vehicle with more power and amenities that subaru just wont offer such as a nice sound system and power memory seats. For the $30K you pay for what you get my $24K subaru doesnt even have auto power locks or windows with a crap stereo and iffy manual cloth seat although they are heated :)
Can you do a SEL?
nice review.
I've driven both- I'd take the Diesel for sure. Torque and Economy.
probably the camera mounts.
I need to be preparing for a speech over autonomous cars and I somehow ended up here. Send help.
i thought it was gonna say 40k plus, 36? that seems like a great deal
This Car is Sold in Britain/ UK as the Ford Kuga, UK Trim Levels are ZETEC , TITANIUM and TITANIUM X much like the rest of the SUV's, SAV's/MPV's/Minivans and Family Cars, If you want a Car to carry about a growing Family then I would say that you would be best with a Ford S-MAX or Ford Galaxy because there is more Rear leg room on the middle row infact a good One or two Feet and a Larger Boot(Trunk),
Saw one on the road today..they are way too small now. Looks more like a car.
Love it!!!
I think in a few years the kicking power tailgate will be broken first you are kicking it second you wll damage your escape
I would take this over the weird looking new CR-V but I still would take a Tigaun 6 speed manual over this any day!
Think again about the RDX. The escape offers more interior capacity 35cu vs 31.5cu. The escape drinks regular gas, the RDX drinks premium. The towing capacity of the escape 2.0 lit. is 5000 pounds, the RDX's is only 1500. The interior of the escape is better finished, the RDX offers only nice looking plastics, no wood or aluminum finished surfaces, and no rear seat air vents or power ports. The RDX does't even have standard roof racks. The only argument for the RDX is the reputation for quality.
yeah !
Hey, its Little River Turnpike haha.
it s a really nice car.
I wish you would steer correctly. Please keep your hands on the outside of the wheel. Sincerely, a driver examiner.
P.S. Nice review ;)

Thank you for the review! I've been doing immense research, even while at work during the day when I have time, on SUVs. I know I'm purchasing in July, but I want 110% absolution that I will drive off the lot with the biggest grin on my face and no second-thoughts when I buy my vehicle. The '13 Escape SEL 4WD w/ Ecoboost knocked down '13 CR-V EX-L AWD from #1 to #2. I think test driving will ultimately make my decision since prices are similar. Again, thanks!
In the end, it does all depend on its owner
good car
Video stops, goes blurry and then blanks out with audio still playing. Thanks UA-cam.

Didn't They Recall The Ford Escape
I can see all the potential slip and fall tort lawsuits with that bone head foot activated tail gate.
One year doesn't mean anything. If you're looking at stats that show reliability equal to the Japanese over a 20 year period, then I'm inclined to agree with your point of view. But one year means absolutely nothing.
Thanks Sofyan, you (tied with Steve from Rosenthal Auto) make the absolute best car reviews online. I really like this Escape, but would not spend the Titanium price as would spend a little more and get a RDX instead, as someone else commented. I also would not expect half leather / half cloth in an Escape commanding this price... It will be interesting to see if they sell without rebates/financing specials.
yeah right!
Australia taxes automobiles pretty heavily if I am not mistaken.
Please Do A SEL
2:46
wow 36k.....without the 402 package....the old escape topped out at 34k.
I personally thought it was pretty spacious, I believe a CR-V is more spacious but the interior of the Escape blows the CR-V away in terms of tech and ambiance
It looks like it says 4WD but Ford didn't have space to put the full A so that's why it looks like 4WD
Aiiiiiiiiiiiiiii This is the Ford Kuga in New Zealand :D
Couldn't agree more, ford isnt worth anywhere near 36k. Idk why your comment is marked as spam, Ford is not a brand name car at all.
a loaded Tiguan still has better materials in my comparison...doors sound better when shutting too
