"So you just came out of Costco, bought a bunch of stuff, saw some jackass on the TV screens..." LOL, it's Brian! They play his videos on the TVs in Costco; that made me laugh out loud.
First time I've liked a Ford Escape. I'm surprised. They've come a long way and it shows they are thinking a bit further into things before releasing them to the general public. I like all their new ergonomic advantages built into their cars, except for the nav thingy. Overall theyre putting out decent, improved quality and better looking than before products.
I agree, systems in cars should be simple, straight-forward and overall, ergonomic to eliminate distractions. No silly fb, twitter or "latest news" apps necessary.
My 2016 Ford Escape has the new Sync 3 System, which works better than the old My Ford Touch system. Obviously I’ve used both before because my Mom’s 2013 Lincoln MKT has the old My Ford Touch (or My Lincoln Touch) system. The My Ford Touch System is OK for me, except when I had to literally press hard on the screen for it to do something and sometimes, it takes forever to do certain things. The Sync 3 System is snappy and very simple to use and it doesn’t require you to put more force into the screen itself.
Question is, will this last as long as my 2005 Escape with 208,000 miles? I've had hardly any trouble, knock on wood, with mine..A/C out at 205K miles, clutch line at 206K miles it had rusted enough to leak, a vacuum line just small 5 and dime stuff..I don't love the basic suv it is but being a 5-speed it has been towed behind my 43 foot diesel pusher motorhome all over the country..
very misleading information, cooley. i just bought a 2015 fusion yesterday with no nav but myford touch, thinking "cnet told me i just need the sd card, and i saw it on ebay for $50, so i'll just do that!" now that i bought the car, i finally figured out that that's not the case.. somehow in the 3-4 years that the MFT system has been out, nobody has figured out how to hack it to override the factory APIM system that forces the system to lock out nav functions unless the car is originally ordered with nav. either way, irresponsible to tell people that they could buy it after market when ford themselves are very quick to deny this claim.
Dear Ford: It seems you designed one heck of a nice crossover. Unfortunately, it has a glaring achilles heel: The MyFord Touch system. As a very remorseful former 2012 Focus 5-door Titamium owner, plagued with perpetual MFT problems, I am not surprised (but disappointed) that problems continue to hang around that aggravating touch screen in the middle of the dash. It's like buying a really nice laptop with a useless touchpad. How hard can it be to fix these problems? It saddens me greatly.
I really like this redo, a lot better than the "rental" boxy previous one! :0 myford touch? Thats just stupid, i want physical buttons for stuff please! Self parking? I know how to drive thank u very much! Engine? Congrats Ford, thats a winning powertrain!
I never liked them but ended up with a 2005 Escape 2.3 4Cyl 5-speed manual shift to tow as a toad behind my last RV..I am surprised to have 208,000 almost trouble free miles..the A/C did go out at 203K and a cracked vacuum line wreaked havoc on the check engine light and missing..now my MAP sensor is failing but has not left me stranded yet..oh and a clutch fluid line rusted out and leaked..coasted off the Expwy into a garage had replaced for $239..I can't complain much really..still like the new ones much better..
I dont get why don't manufacturers put better computing hardware in the cars. Phones have 4 processing cores, why can't they put that in car?! I think that +$50 is well worthed and it's nothing compared to the price of the whole car.
You can buy the SD card, but it wont work. Ford did NOT install the GPS module inside the dash on models that do not have the package included. Therefore, yes, you can get the SD cards with maps on it. However, you will not be able to utilize it. Source- I own one and tried. Do thorough research before trying to prove someone wrong with one step thinking.
I've been a huge Ford fan for many, many years. But I'm left so dumbfounded as to why Ford would continue to make their new vehicles with MyFord Touch, or at least fix it. Virtually every new Ford I've driven, test driven, owned (had the misfortune of buying a 2012 Ford Focus Titanium) or watched a UA-cam review on has given MFT abysmal grades. Get it together, Ford. If you you ever want me to buy a new Ford again, get your sh*t together. And don't even get me started on the decision to introduce MFT into the 2015 Mustang. EPIC face palm. *sigh*
I agree. I'm not a ford guy but my god myford touch is one of the most confusing systems I've ever seen. There is no need to add the system to the mustang just stick with the basic radio unit and I'll be happy. At lease Chrysler and GM have their in car systems cleaned up and working
You're at fault, because it is YOUR job to keep tabs on what the car is doing and since the motion of the car is manually operated than you should be able to prevent a collision.
3:56 to 4:07, easily one of Brian's best lines in a while.
Brian's commentary never fails to make me laugh.

Mr Cooley is simply the BEST...
For 2012 this was quite a trick car for the money.
You're talking about the C1 platform, this is the global-C platform that's only been out since 2010.
I love the brown velvet jacket. Must get one to look cool like Cooley.
Dearborn, Detroit, Pontiac are all home cities for all major manufacturers. Most cars are either built there or is home to their parent brand.

Is it worth buying this unit in 2021? This model was discontinued in out country
I liked how they muted the word shit. Haha.
great video as usual mr. cooley ...
It's called Car Tech for a reason

I like how it looks
How are the seats after sitting in them for several hours? My dad's 04 Taurus, your rear end starts killing you after about 2 hours.

They should've considered you for Top Gear USA.
finally some other car maker follows Audi's lead and starts using a 2.0T in almost every model.
that way soon it should lower production costs
Bought one.......wish it would come with a manual option like the european version.
Look a lot smaller than our Ford Escape 2012.
It's funny because at my local store he is always on the TV talking about Tv's
I really like this redo, a lot better than the "rental" boxy previous one! :0 myford touch? Thats just stupid, i want physical buttons for stuff please! Self parking? I know how to drive thank u very much! Engine? Congrats Ford, thats a winning powertrain!
why do most of the cars reviewed have Michigan license plates?
Everyone I know that owns or has owned one of the old ones can't say enough bad about it.
Same as the Kuga in Europe!
why does youtube now make it so when a video finishes it wants you to share, I think that kind of a pain in the ass
Such a Boss
2:04 Sounds Like Siri from the iPhone
LOL didnt notice until you pointed it out
4:53 he looks like he's drunk :)))
The sync module behind the screen also needs to be swapped out physically for nav, you can't just insert a card! Stop saying that !
6:01 old Escape passing by
+Logan Hankins yes I know that I'm saying that you can buy an sd card for an escape with navigation package
Sure can't sir.
LOL.. Steaming pile of ..... This was his best review yet! Nice work!
ya...if i was homeless id wanna take a shit behind a Ford also... goes with the turf... :-)
If I have to choose betwen any Ford and Bicycle... I choose Bicycle... at least it will not break on me any time soon
He’s wrong about the sd card if it doesn’t come with navigation doesn’t matter if you buy the card and stick it in. Still won’t work
Ford has come a long way, maybe the recession was a good thing for them. They have tighten their belts.
Actually it kinda does...
So basically Ford America copied Ford Germany's Kuga that was around since 2008.
Europeans again coming to the rescue...
i agree :)
CRV still beats this anyday
@FullArmageddon The old one look like shit, this one looks much better
I dont get why don't manufacturers put better computing hardware in the cars. Phones have 4 processing cores, why can't they put that in car?! I think that +$50 is well worthed and it's nothing compared to the price of the whole car.
Moms with kids is who tis car is made for. For the boys ford make the xr6t or the g6et
lol? Welcome to the internet old man.
Lmfaooooo rolling brick😂😂😂💀💀💀
it is a europe kuga
+Kristofellesify um I just looked up to buy one and eBay and Amazon and ford sells the SD card. Do your research before you wanna prove someone wrong

......\0/..... this platform been on sale since 2008 in the UK
a 2008 vehicle goes on sale as 2013, that must be a joke
MUSTANG @ 6:12
in a third world country the se model cost 38,000 :c
Need more ram
It looks Amy

Don't worry, Sync 3 is far superior than MFT and much easier to use. Expect that head unit on all 2016 models.
what happens if i hit a car while parking in self park mode ,, does the other owner sue the computer company
You're at fault, because it is YOUR job to keep tabs on what the car is doing and since the motion of the car is manually operated than you should be able to prevent a collision.
this car needs some google now not some microsoft nonsense
ummm no
lol. I know too funny Right.
Ford has way to many packages and they are too expensive and covfusing.
Could have said dog S**T instead
I love Ford but... that design just looks cheap and ugly. The old Escape looked way better.
This doesn't compete at all with the CX5, and the CRV. Its horribly ugly, and it uses little gimmicks like "self parking" to win over customers.
Ford MyTouch still sucks
don't like it
Wow! That homeless person comment was extremely offensive. Uncalled for, and really a vicious shot at the homeless. Uneccessary.
pretty cool but kind of ugly...
dont call the last generation a "rolling brick" it just seems offensive
Alright snowflake
