2 cups epsom salts, 1 cup dishwashing liquid, 5 liters of vinager. Cheap spirit vinager works too. Put that in a sprayer and spray on the weeds and grass. You will see the effect within an hour, especially on dandelions and other broad leafed weeds

It will kill all the plants. It must only be used where you don't want any plant growth.

Why do you put water on it afterwards when you try to avoid doing it if it rains?

A bit of water helps dissolve the salt but rain washes it away and then the salt is moved from the driveway
