When in doubt just don't talk to anyone, and brush off anyone that approaches you.
I think the biggest scam at airport is shops that sell extremely over priced food for example $20 for a sandwich or $10 or more for a litre of bottled water .
I can make a good sandwich at home for around $1 and purchase a litre of water at my local supermarket for around $1 or better still use the free water taps that most airports have for free .
@philipmullins5185 A good mate of mine after we both qualified as a Chartered Accountant, accepted a transfer to Germany where he was involved in Auditing the country's largest airports, which involved every aspect of the airport finances and all companies and organizations involved inside the airport or services to the airport. The cost to hire retail space anywhere where there is foot traffic is exponentially expensive, even retailers have to pay in addition to rent a percentage of their sales, and firms selling luxury goods, premium watches, and gold jewellery pay an even higher premium based on their sales after the annual audit. The annual cost to run Germany's largest International airports runs into the hundreds of millions each year. He called it brutal German efficiency! Companies would fight to get into the airports.
You're obviously referring to American airports. If you're traveling further afield, tap water is very unlikely to be potable. You can't normally carry more than 100ml of liquids through security, so bottled water is the only safe option. Sandwiches or other comestibles must be eaten en route, there are strict bio-security rules that preclude taking foodstuffs into another country, unless it's a prepackaged food that's still factory sealed...
@@johnmurphy9550 Most people who purchase food and drinks at the airport actually eat and drink them at the airports and don't need to carry them on to the airlines .
If take your own food and water into an airport , you can usually eat the food and drink the water before you go through security also you can take an empty plastic bottle through security and use the free water taps to fill up the water to drink the water at the airport or you can use the free water fountain taps to drink the free water from taps as you stand there ,
I have not been to any American airports but have been to numerous airports in Australia , Asia , India , the Middle East , Europe and Africa and I have refused to buy anything from most of them because of what I consider extremely high prices , there are exception such as the Singapore airport where the prices are reasonable because airport policies states that business trading there must charge the same prices there as elsewhere in Singapore also at the Berlin airport in Germany there is a supermarket chain store there that sells a wide range of sandwiches , rolls , cakes , pastries , salads, dairy products , drinks , confectionery , groceries etc at very reasonable prices compared to the other shops at the same airport where the prices are usually very high
Airport food stores have a captive customer base and I think if they charged more reasonable prices then people would buy more at the airport .
Also at most airports you will see many so called duty free stores usually selling products like confectionery in bulk packets and actually I find the products not cheap at all but actually at much higher prices than I can buy the same products at my local supermarket and I don't understand why airport passenger would go to the trouble to buy bulk lots of products when traveling when the prices are not reasonable .
A few years ago at LAX, a lady approached me and asked for help...That she had missed her flight and was $40.00 short to get another ticket to flight back home...I almost fell for that.
Official taxis? Hahaha! In certain countries these taxis are as criminal as some scammers.
in taiwan don't go to aborigine areas or take their taxi - get one at front of hotel or ask conceiage to hail u one n they'll put u on it n get fee ...
I can't believe that anyone needs to be told not accept random drinks or food from strangers... though I guess some travelers do this.
So the majority of these scams can easily be stop by airport personel and secuirty who should be waching everyone and none of this should be happening in side if the secuirty officers are doing their jobs, if not fire them

Oh, come on, they are very busy making you throw your water bottles away
Really? With many thousands of people going thru big airports u believe there’s staff available to police all the hundreds of potential thieves. Not even remotely close to realistic. Imagine if you had one cop or security person for ever one hundred travelers, so that’s one percent, which is absolutely NOT doable in reality, do u think that one cop can monitor and keep track of 100 people? Even if the were all in the same room it would be impossible, and in reality those 100 people are going in say 50 different directions, which is a low estimate, as far as how many options would exist. The cost for such airport coverage would be astronomical, and that would be passed on to the consumers. This is why we need to be savy, and smart & educated and one step ahead of thieves, and every other evil-doer, and responsible for our own safety as much as possible.
This reply of water bottles is so dead on!
I have traveled over my 80 years quite a bit, most employees are more interested in covering their back side, rather than doing their job!
Airlines today are about the same level as traveling by Greyhound!
NOBODY can get inside pass the security line without a ticket and a passport. I think it would be quite pricy for thugs to purchase ticket every day to do the scams described here
Family of 5 takes a $7 sandwich maker with them. Toasted sandwhiches in las vegas for eg. cost over $15. Long story short, this family leaves the toaster behind at the end of their trip.
Really we aren't safe anywhere at all. It's so sad what the world has become.
I just got scammed and robbed by a Cathay Pacific steward in the plane. They would wake you up before landing when lights are still off and ask if you would like to pee before they served food. As soon as you go they would go through your carry or small bag left around the seat. I didn't check my shoulder bag until I got home and found all my money gone.
Perfect scam, who would suspect an FA?
WOW!!!!! Thanks dude
Once I get through security, I keep my wallet, phone, keys to home on my person. Don't leave any valuables unattended at your seat.
@@BrianRP1209good common sense advice there Brian.
Also both my checked and carry on luggage is hard side and have no zips making them that bit more secure and thieves tend to move on to easier target
Buy yourself a waist money belt with two pockets, money, a passport, and tickets, and wear a simple shirt with the belt next so you are comfortable. Then no worries!
If you think the taxi/rideshare isn’t legit or is overcharging ask the bellman at the hotel for help.
Use yelllow cabs at the cab stand
How can someone who is not travelling get to the security area. It’s definitely an inside job.
I was thinking the exact same
Wow…Im done with world travel…it used to be a lovely experience and now it can be a nightmare memory….
It is beginning to get to me too.
I am a female frequent solo traveller enjoying some of the more out of the way places in the world. the only time I have ever been robbed was in my own city after I got home from a long trip-I had my wallet lifted outside the second-largest police station in the country. Luckily, there was only one credit card, quickly cancelled, and a wad of Egyptian currency that might have bought a cup of coffee locally.
Don't let this keep you from seeing the world! It's not at all likely to happen and there's a lot you can learn on UA-cam of simple things to protect yourself
Many reasons just to stay close to my home for vacation.
Too stressful to be watching for scammers everywhere.
What is baggage wrapping? I thought that your baggage can randomly be chosen for a search, so why bother paying to have it wrapped?
I trust no one and stay to myself
OK, some of this bullshit needs to be stopped by airports, security personnel, and airlines. Passengers are not cops, and can't be on top of another new scam every day. Some of these are just common sense, but some are pretty hard to know about. How in the hell does someone install an ATM skimmer in an airport? BTW- on taxi fares, here is a solution: if the driver is trying to screw you in a big way (never mind up to maybe 20%, that could be an honest mistake) like $100. for what should be a $15. fare, tell him: "Call the police. If they say the $100. is correct I will pay it." I have done this once, and a friend of mine did it once, in both cases the fare dropped to the real rate instead of the police coming. Of course use Uber wherever possible, fare is stated in advance on your phone and no cash has to change hands.
This happened in some airports globally.
Very good info, thank you! 😮
😅
If you bought alcohol at duty free make sure it is next to you in the taxi. Otherwise the driver may take it and conceal it in his trunk while you are gathering your stuff from inside the taxi passenger area. I lost 2 bottles like this in an Istanbul airport official taxi. Due to jetlag I didn't notice until I went to get the bottles to give as a gift to my friend who lives there
I bought two bottles of wine at the duty store and when I got home I had a fancy dinner and decided to open them and they were both rotten and gone bad.
How can a fake person operating at an airport and asking your documents? If this is true than the security and police is not doing their job at the airport.
Who is responsible when items are stolen at the security check point/screening?
I think the security is responsible because you must "hand over" your items to them to be screened by them.
if only they were. Government and bureaucracies are never responsible for anything. Blame always defaults to the consumer.
Airports are big. Sometimes the workers and police officers are in on it together. There are many instances of corrupt Thai police officers who have been arrested for their corruption.
I have been travelling all over the world for many, many years - never ever even once did i witness anyone sstealing anything and i have expensive watch i need to put on a tray as well, not even mentioning ipad and iphone. By the way nowadays at developed countries u do not need to put phone and lap top or tablet on a trey for security
@@bambinaforever1402 Good. Count your blessings.
I got scammed at Heathrow several years ago. I’d gone to the currency exchange to get a few BSP for incidentals. I was jet lagged and not paying attention. The young woman gave me my cash, but didn’t count it out, then asked if I’d like a receipt, printed or emailed. Of course, I didn’t realize I was a bit short until later, and of course the emailed receipt never arrived. It could have been worse, but live and learn. Now I’m hyper aware and never get money at the airport.
"True airport officials do not solicit bribes or fees in OPEN AREAS." I guess this means that closed areas are fair game...?!? 😂😢😂
Have you been to NIGERIA?
A retired Nigerian returning from living abroad was accosted at the airport and when he refused, the poor man was shot.
We lost a bag at Cebu airport but luckily my wife got it back who is a local national.
On my first trip to Manila in 1998 some thief stole my first bag while I was waiting for my second bag at the carousel.
I rugby tackled him and ended up being the one getting a severe warning from a cop.
Makes you wonder if there was any connection
We took an 'official' taxi from Manila airport to hotel and was charged about 3 times the real amount.
That’s about par for that place, plenty of “tourist taxes” charged during every vacation there
I don't donate even in big stores like here in Canada, the superstore and others stores asking for donations when we don't have idea how much money that stores collected if they really give that money to the ones they need.
Why this stores don't donate without asking people to donate they all ready over price all the products.
Shameless isn't it.. Multi million/billion dollar businesses panhandling...
Taxi advice - to get the fare in writing. Gosh, I can see that happening 😂
official airport staff ask for bribes all the time. (depending on country)
Inside a bank, you avoid ATM fees. Just get a cash advance!
Thank you so so much👍🙏
Great video
Very useful informations.
Thanks endlessly
Than you for your tips ❤❤❤❤❤
its a shame that a lot of tourist fall victim to these scams
Absolutely right!!!
Thanks for subtitles❤
Good info ❤👍
Thank You Sir
What he said is possible and did happened to some airports .
Thanks for the insight
Atm beep/tap card scanner was not discussed.
At 7 minutes, the narrator says he wants to pause to express his gratitude, but then never actually gets around to expressing his gratitude.
Thanks 👍
Agree on fare write it down AND film it.
Where is airport security all these cameras ????
In the toilets, perhaps??
I never leave the US
Hmmm I hadn’t seen the fake items in duty free but then I don’t buy there normally.
I use a wheelchair, and at Dubai airport my special assistance ignored me when I asked about free 24 hour simcard.
I asked for a simcard price 200 dirams at airport. In town same card cost 100 dirams.
11:37 - if the service typically operates on ONE, is a bad audio rendition of the simple phrase, "if the service typically operates on one."
See "Prison overcrowding". 🙃
21. Don't travel
🤣
The land of the scam.
Hey YT whats wrong with the delay on all the video's for the last few days???
What? Theres a lot of stuff here on this video that hardly happens.
Just think. If people had common sense, ............🤦
Use unber or lift or rent a car
I’d use uber taxi!
They’re the cheapest & trustworthy and friendly!!!
Blah blah blah baloney...
These are just common sense suggestions
Stay the Hell Home, Simple
