fun fact for x items or less requirements: they count the candles.
also if you can freeze enemies before they attack defense and damage don't matter, frozen explosive enemies don't explode, and because you wouldn't take damage from enemies and explosions, clarity and health aren't too meaningful either.
I'd highly suggest only taking more items on those builds if you see the wishful room, have the scroll that let's you destroy an item in your inventory, or if it won't exceed the item limit.
for the most part souls and enemy kills don't matter for the run so it's better to just run away when things get risky.
Another thing to keep in mind is that some enemies are immune to freeze (The bird boss)

I can't be the only one screaming TAKE THE SHUFFLE at the end of that last run. They are really useful for getting away from explosives or the enemies that move or for closing the gap to ranged attackers. Taking that shuffle at the end legit could have saved the run by getting you to the big potion. GGs anyway. Ring of Pain is a great game.
As someone who has never played the game this is nice to watch. For all the other veterans; stay strong
The Hermit's Tiara is probably the best common item, and it can single-handely carry you to the very end, but for a run like that to trully work you need raw stats, and that means luck with Wishful rooms or some other way to destroy items to gain their stats.
There's also a very good legendary item called "Backpack" that makes it so all "Less than X items" effects work at all times regardless, so then you can pick a bunch of other Epic or Legendary gear with all the saved souls and just blast an easy win. BUT you need to unlock it first so it appears on runs, and the prerequisite is winning a run without discarding any items you find.
That's a long-term goal I'm still trying to do xD

On the core run in the video, we took like 3 items. Which is an absolute anomaly in a ring of pain run
It's an amusing juxtaposition. Less than a minute into the video and he passes up one of the better low equip items.

Your refusal to skip items, even when you didn't like them, doomed that run from the start.
As an experienced player, watching this makes me feel like I'm in a Ring of Pain. But it's still entertaining, so keep playing.
Freeze tiara was how I got my first win and I felt so dirty that I swore to never go that build again
5:58 I havent yelled this much to the screen for a while now, first you don't even read the item that would secure the archetype build and then you remove the freeze item...reeeee

i've yet to emotionally recover from that time in the "I Dominated the Low Speed Meta in Ring of Pain" video where you had to choose between a 31% stealth chance and a 41% crit chance in a dangerous high stakes situation and you chose stealth.

To be fair, I’m pretty sure that crit didn’t kill the guy. We needed two. So it was 41% twice, or like a 17% chance. Which at that point… 31 is significantly higher than 17. Ring of Pain is just hard man lol

I tried that freeze when attack item once with the spear that attack when move. It was good until I had to press move to deal 1 damage each time to a floor with multiple 100+ health enemy ...
