5:42 4 poison is essentially 10 damage that you just kinda deal without risking an enemy attacking you back, and its very useful for those enemies with a lot of defense
I really enjoyed the "I take less explosion damage so I'm going to explode everything into my face" logic in this episode. Love the series!

I was surprised he said the egg that gives an extra potion every dungeon was bad and then chose the one-off potion for +1 max hp from Chugging Mask
This is definitely one of my favourite series you've done, there's just so many synergies and new stuff to discover
Biggest new player tip I can think of is that early into a run, don't obsess much over builds or effects and just pick up as many items as possible with good raw stats. Focus more on Attack, Defense, and Health, but don't completely neglect Speed and Clarity; high stats in both can be very useful (clarity especially)
If you have multiple empty slots, open all the treasures you can, no matter their rarity, and fill them all with positive stat boosts. Once you're at a good surplus of stats, you'll be able to crush fights consistently and clear whole rooms, snowballing further. You'll get a feel for which items are worth picking up and if you're "ahead of the curve" stat-wise as you play more and get better at winning runs, and in the last half of the run you'll be able to focus more on epic and legendary items you pick up that define the run.

Yeah the big dog is a secret fight if you have the fur coat equipped. Gives you an achievement if you defeat him somehow

So some advice, tunnel visioning on speed is bad. Speed is binary it will either save you from just ONE hit or it won’t, if you take 3 hits to kill being faster just means you take 2 hits instead of 3. Also high speed doesn’t help, since it only has 2 outcomes excess speed is wasted, there’s no difference between having 30 or 100, same is true for negative, it doesn’t matter if you have 0 or -30 it’s the same.
See then defence and clarity are the opposite. Going Negative with these punish you harshly you’ll take more damage with bad defence. Bad clarity will will choke you of healing potions, starve you of souls and reduce the amount of upgrades you can get. Boosting these 2 gets you much much more.
You only want speed when you already have good enough damage to kill or render an enemy useless cause it only saves 1 hit.
would going hard into damage be fine then or still no like some you kill 1 hit n take 1 hit but if u cant hit 1st u dead
Hmm. As someone who'd never played, this makes a lot of sense... Them again, the difference between taking 0 hits and taking 1 every turn is much less binary than it seems at first considering the former is "invincibility." I dunno. Speed sounds like a fantastic dump stat in the context of having negative speed though.
Keep in mind that speed gives you one of the secondary stats (stealth maybe?) So it's pretty good to have a lot of.
Also remember that negative stats are a completely valid build, as there are many items that invert the benifits
0:20 One step from Eden is way harder to win lol but it is also in the pyramid. Part of the fun is that since you choose the games that could show up in your run to some extent you are affecting the difficulty at that step.

Having more cards is basically Always a great thing in this game, more treasures even moreso
As a veteran of this game I'd advise weighing each option available before clicking. Be less eager to attack every enemy every time.

Usually I don't like to watch people play badly; but this is surprisingly entertaining to watch. The game looks genuinely hard and requiring thought.

The amount of times he hovers over an action that will kill him, doesn’t read anything or think, and clicks it anyway is astounding. I love this game and found him by looking up this game, but I think I need to find someone who will try to die less. It really is a luck based game the way he plays it
This was my fifth video of ring of pain, effectively the 5th time I’ve ever played it in my life. Did you win your first 5 runs?
I played this game thank to seeing you play it! As I already beat it, also thanks to seeing you go through your runs likely, just a few advices that might help:
Defense builds are very strong cause you can just prioritize def and health (and clarity on the side is always nice) and forsake the other stats-
Attack builds also works, attack and speed are the priorities then, status effects like petrification or poison do work well with attack builds too, it helps you do extra damage on top of your attack basically!
If you have poison, you can often let the enemy die on its own while you go do something else once they have enough stacks.
I found that committing to something as early as possible (room 1 if you can) depending to the items you get there works the best, commit and just stick to it and reroll to get items to make it work better
you replacing items that you dont want to replace by just playing so fast and careless is grinding my GEARS
I guess he plays fast because audience would be bored with slower pace

A tip I learned is that defense is the most important early stat, it gives you the ability to survive the first few floors without missing out on too much

Yeah. I ran through it's decks and was all "There's no way *anyone* can score points on this". If it used some goals instead of "Win" would of been better.
Edit: Also for gear that talk about "items equipped" the first slot in your inventory (the candle in this case) also counts for an item. Which is annoying XD

If i could try to give a hint, you are playing this game without really thinking. Ring of pain is a strategy game, you have to consider all the other cards in the wheel and figure out the optimal order in which to interact with them
You can’t see half of them though so how in the world do you strategize that lol
@@OlexaYT you can see cards that are acting by themselves and prepare, also which types the others belong to, for example skipping enemies to get stats often deals you less damage than fighting until you get there
i played a little of this game earlier this year, and i won 1 singular time, and never again. Ring of pain is definetly the dark souls of roguelike cardgames..
If you look at the achievements and try to get a few, you will receive much better cards to play with. I am winning a lot more now after about 10 hours of playing (which is also an achievement)
You just have to learn what items are good and bad, after that even hard mode isn’t that difficult. Also from my experience one of the 4 traits is just stronger than the other 3.
Nooo, it's not just RNG, but ofc some runs are neigh-unwinnable. You must know builds and monster stats woken from sleep in the middle of the night XD
This game is definitely not rng, in fact it feels so simple to win I got bored. That might be my fault though, I could only find a few variations of items that were viable. It felt a little one note. I am going to write the formula I found to win almost every time below, so don't scroll down if you want to learn on your own.

At first focus on getting enough speed and attack to one shot and out speed wolfs. That will get you through the early game levels 1-5. Then for the mid game you should focus on finding decent items, focusing on purple items or greater making sure if you are going to open them that you have enough to re roll at least like 2 times so around 40 or so extra, that should get you through 6-12. Finally start looking for synergies such as poison, petrification, or heal on kill. Whichever synergy you land on start allocating stats accordingly.
