Outside of my math error giving me bad come up for 400 yards, I think I would have been able to shoot much tighter if I had chosen a aim point dot that was a little bigger. That 2 inch dot was pretty much obscured by the reticle. I can't wait until the next time we get to go out there for a long range play day.
Halfmile I’ll be tuning in after Whoteewho my friend . Really enjoy the video’s which educate somewhat on the basics of bing bang targets I am more in the hunting side .
Looking pretty good especially with probably a 10 to 15mph wind. The Hornady Black impressed me for factory ammo. That rifle just keeps putting them right in there. Shooter might have helped too 😂. 🎯🇺🇸🙏
I forgot to bring my anemometer but I think the wind was more in th e15 to 20 range...it was screaming pretty good...good enough to drive those group hard right. I expected the group to be right but was lost at why they were high, lol...until I figured out I had fat fingered the input on the calculator. As they say GIGO...garbage in, garbage out, lol. Let me tell you, the 2 inch dots were darn difficult to see at 400 yards...seemed much smaller than the 3/8" dots at 100. One of these days I'll try a 400 yard group again but I'll use a slightly larger aiming point.
@Halfmilesniper Use a 4in dot but let us think it's a 2in. At 400 it will look like a 2in lol. That still isn't much to see with a 4in. You can do it Waterboy. 🎯🙏👍🇺🇸
@@billdye3530 maybe I just need to unleash a little Captain Insano on the target, lol I commented a moment ago to someone else that those 2 inch dots we basically obscured by the reticle...it was weird, I could see the dot until I put the crosshairs on the dot, then poof, it was gone, LOL. I was basically extrapolating my aim point by it disappearing and still managed to shoot a slightly larger than MOA group.
@Halfmilesniper sorry to hear of your knee issue , wife had surgery on her minecous( spell chk...:) that will definitely put down your step count...need ya gopher to get your targets and carry equipment !
I apologize for suggesting the camera and adapter to the spoting scope. Your 400 yard target isn't it on more of an up hill angle ? Lastly keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.
All good, no need to apologize. I am still learning how to do the double focus. Yes, the 400 yard target is slightly uphill, maybe 3 to 4 degrees, not enough to make the calculation 5 inches high...I had to have fat fingered the input is what I believe.

Just over 5" at 400 yard isn't bad at all. I've looked everywhere and nobody has Hornady Black in 6.5 PRC. If you have any leads on some let me know. I'd love to try some in my Ruger Hawkeye LRT.
is this a public range? I am about 4 hours out of the range outside of reno.... the sac valley range seems to be members only... looking to stretch some rifles out...
Unfortunately no, this is a private working cattle ranch we occasionally get to use. There might be a range a little closer, I think there is a long range range in the Coalinga/Panoche area...still a haul from the Sac Valley thogh.

One of my favorite things to do. Sub 1” groups at 400 yards is very doable, with a good rifle and load.

Nice Sonny, we'll see you at both WhoTeeWho;'s and mine too. Nice thing about most rifle shooting is that much of it correlates to hunting situations.
