I met you once in front of the pier. It was a few years after I, a Jew, had accepted Christ. You were talking to someone from a stage you had put up and I rudely interrupted you and stuck out my hand and said, “Ray, it’s good to meet you!”. You looked at me, looked back at the guy you were talking to, looked back at me, shook my hand and went right back into your spiel without missing a beat.
As to the "trick..." In Luke 24:28, Jesus "pretended" (check the Greek) He would go farther, leading the disciples to invite Him to stay. In 1 Corinthians 9:22, Paul says he becomes different around different kinds of people so that he might "by all means save some." In Genesis 18, the Lord speaks to His angels, intending for Abraham to overhear, again, leading Abraham to approach Him in intercession. There is a kind of cleverness here, as in Luke, but it is always done gently by the Lord, in love. I believe Ray's action was similar.

As an atheist of 15 years, I'm starting to come back to this thinking. Not all the way though. Leaving religion left a big void in my life. While I'm still an atheist, I firmly believe faith in something higher than yourself brings about inner peace and meaning.

You can't just fall back on "God moves in mysterious ways" every time you can't make it work, I'm afraid. There are plenty of other logistical reasons why the story does not work, not to mention that the Noah's ark story in the bible is not even an original text, but was shamelessly plagiarised from the Epic of Gilgamesh that was written over 1,000 years previously.

@@uscgmom9796Sadly, my parents and most family are Catholics and believe all that (I used to be one then looked into it and eventually became a true Christian). Please pray that I have a chance to show them the true gospel, I just don't want to deal with confrontation and argument, esp from my parents. I pray for the right opportunity to be able to tell them to trust only in Jesus for our salvation, I think they would take that part just fine, but what they might not take as well is that the catholic beliefs/rituals aren't correct. I have a feeling they'll say "You have your belief, I have mine" something like that. So I've just been avoiding the subject with them, but also God forbid something happens to them before I share the gospel, I'll feel so guilty and won't be able to live with myself :(

She was very devout in her Catholic faith, you could see it in her home, on her car etc. She also however read the bible on her own and knew it very well. I don't know how or why she continued to stay within the Catholic Church. She might hold some intellectual opposition to Ray, but would agree with his message about Salvation. I truly believed that my.Aunt JoAnn was saved, it certainly wasn't about my own personal disagreement with the Catholic Church. I would suggest praying that your family reads the Bible, let the Word convict them.

atheist here, i may not be too familiar with all the common fallacies that have been debunked countless times but i think this is one of them, as i've been able to find a point against it pretty easily so let's say i know someone who makes watches, and i own a watch, well your point is basically that watch must have been made by that watchmaker, when in fact, he's not the only watchmaker in the world, and others could have made it another thing you guys seem to not get is that, when faced with problems, like "how did the universe came to be?", you guys tend to put god over it instead of just admitting you don't know, which we atheists usually do

The fossil record documents the relationships between long extinct species with living species today. Through direct observation, we can observe small-scale evolution in organisms that have short lifecycles, such as germs and viruses for example.

@hunterrb2, With regards to creation, I would dispute it if the assertion was only that a divine power created the universe. Because so far, that is not backed up by evidence. I'm not saying that it's impossible. But for me to accept it, it would need to be proven. Preachers, like Ray, cannot prove a divine power created the universe. But they might present an argument that, on the surface, seems stronger than it actually is. For example they might say that the complexity of the human eye is proof of a creator, or that the world is perfect for life to exist, therefore it must have been designed. But if the human eye was designed by an actual God, powerful enough to create everything, why do millions people need glasses? If this planet was designed, why are there so many places that are inhospitable for humans to survive? I don't know if you know this, but around 97% of the planet's water is in the oceans. However, we can't drink it because our bodies cannot process the amount of salt that's in sea water. If the earth was designed for life to exist, it might not have been designed with human life in mind.

If we accept that something can come into existence without a cause, then we must also accept that anything can happen without a cause. This would mean that the laws of physics, chemistry, and biology would have no meaning. Anything that has a finite existence had a creator the universe had a start and that was the big bang. Because times space and matter all started with the universe, the creator has to be outside of space, time, and matter. Who do we call an eternal, spaceless being who created everything? God.

As an atheist myself, I don't think that the argument that there must be a god because nature couldn't create itself holds up. Nothing created the universe just as nothing created god, for whatever you believe in there must be an uncaused cause, whether that be one or many gods or rather the universe itself. I don't like to be argumentative, which is why I usually don't interact with posts like this, however if the goal of a video like this is to show a scientific way to explain the existence of god, it is important to also look at the counterarguments. That being said, I am not trying to convert anyone to atheism, I believe that you can believe anything you want and I am fine with that. I also understand that your desire to try to convert us comes from you not wanting us to end up in hell but I ask that you take comments like these into consideration because me, and i assume many other atheists, are open to change and I tell you this to help you create stronger arguments. Another thing I'd like to add is, if I'm being 100% truthful, no atheist knows how the universe came to be. Given enough time and research we might be able to figure it out but i doubt that will be in my, or anyone else here's lifetime.

To your first point, I don’t know if you had more points but I’m already over this video. You are to suggest that over billions of years nothing that resembles a building or a painting could have possibly formed on it’s own… that’s a ridiculous claim, look at caves and canyons for example, there are even discoloration on rock surfaces that are mistaken as ancient cave paintings. Life is self sustaining and although it’s unlikely for something to become self sustaining it’s not impossible. I would challenge you to start a notebook where you write the word “year” just one billion times and tell me how many notebooks you fill. Then think about how much can happen in one year and remember that the universe is 14 billion years old.
If someone hates the 'sneaky' (and it was!) trick of giving someone an additional free gift (free reading material they can freely toss in the trash if they hate it that much!) with their free food gift cards - well, I'd call that unjustified anger. Why were the books of the Bible written so many years after the fact. A God that was able to create all things, couldn't have made a Sacred Place that couldn't be destroyed by man. This Sacred place could contain God's plan for mankind within it. No man could dispute it. He left it up to man to write the books of the Bible. Your scientific proof of gods existence is neither scientific nor proof. It’s just a false equivalence fallacy. The building is proof of the builder, the painting is proof of the painter, but creation is not proof of a creator. Why not? Because the universe is not a building or a painting.
You truly believe that the universe just formed randomly from nothing. Leaving aside the obvious claim of "Something can't come from nothing," the point is that matter and energy could not, with the same intricacy and complexity, rearrange itself into a painting or a building. When you approach an atheist or agnostic and begin your spiel with "you'd better believe in Jesus or you'll go to hell", you are doing them and yourself a disservice. This is a fundamental issue in how Christian faith has been communicated to the world for the past two thousand years, and why there are 2 billion Christians instead of 8 billion. No one is going to respond positively to having their head beaten over. When I read the bible, the fundamental characteristic of God is love, not judgement. God wants to be in community, so God created humanity. God wants humanity to be in community with itself, so God sent his Son to show us an example of love. Maybe if we Christians led with this message instead of talking about a vindictive God, we'd be more successful in making believers.
The builder or painter argument doesn't work. One could ask who created God. We know a painting was painted because it is consistent with human behavior. I believe in God. But He can't be proven with science.
Not everything has a living creator. When an island forms in the ocean, it is not evidence of someone who built an island, it’s evidence of an underwater volcanoe. When a tornado forms, that’s not evidence of a person who made a tornado, it’s creator was flat land and constant collision of hot and cool air.

In Genesis 18, the Lord speaks to His angels, intending for Abraham to overhear, again, leading Abraham to approach Him in intercession. There is a kind of cleverness here, as in Luke, but it is always done gently by the Lord, in love.

If you want to try to crowbar a fictional story into reality, you need to be able to justify it scientifically and logically. You can't just fall back on "God moves in mysterious ways" every time you can't make it work, I'm afraid.
There are plenty of other logistical reasons why the story does not work, not to mention that the Noah's ark story in the bible is not even an original text, but was shamelessly plagiarised from the Epic of Gilgamesh that was written over 1,000 years previously.

Please pray that I have a chance to show them the true gospel, I just don't want to deal with confrontation and argument, esp from my parents. I pray for the right opportunity to be able to tell them to trust only in Jesus for our salvation, I think they would take that part just fine, but what they might not take as well is that the catholic beliefs/rituals aren't correct. Preachers, like Ray, cannot prove a divine power created the universe. But they might present an argument that, on the surface, seems stronger than it actually is. For example they might say that the complexity of the human eye is proof of a creator, or that the world is perfect for life to exist, therefore it must have been designed.
But if the human eye was designed by an actual God, powerful enough to create everything, why do millions people need glasses?
If this planet was designed, why are there so many places that are inhospitable for humans to survive? I don't know if you know this, but around 97% of the planet's water is in the oceans. However, we can't drink it because our bodies cannot process the amount of salt that's in sea water. If the earth was designed for life to exist, it might not have been designed with human life in mind.

As an atheist myself, I don't think that the argument that there must be a god because nature couldn't create itself holds up. Nothing created the universe just as nothing created god, for whatever you believe in there must be an uncaused cause, whether that be one or many gods or rather the universe itself. I don't like to be argumentative, which is why I usually don't interact with posts like this, however if the goal of a video like this is to show a scientific way to explain the existence of god, it is important to also look at the counterarguments. That being said, I am not trying to convert anyone to atheism, I believe that you can believe anything you want and I am fine with that. I also understand that your desire to try to convert us comes from you not wanting us to end up in hell but I ask that you take comments like these into consideration because me, and i assume many other atheists, are open to change and I tell you this to help you create stronger arguments.
Another thing I'd like to add is, if I'm being 100% truthful, no atheist knows how the universe came to be. Given enough time and research we might be able to figure it out but i doubt that will be in my, or anyone else here's lifetime.
If you are as open as you say you are then I would urge you to take this very seriously and seek God with all of your heart. Read scripture and you will find Him if you seek with your whole heart in it. He wants none to perish. Including you.

To your first point, I don’t know if you had more points but I’m already over this video. You are to suggest that over billions of years nothing that resembles a building or a painting could have possibly formed on it’s own… that’s a ridiculous claim, look at caves and canyons for example, there are even discoloration on rock surfaces that are mistaken as ancient cave paintings. Life is self sustaining and although it’s unlikely for something to become self sustaining it’s not impossible. I would challenge you to start a notebook where you write the word “year” just one billion times and tell me how many notebooks you fill. Then think about how much can happen in one year and remember that the universe is 14 billion years old.
If someone hates the 'sneaky' (and it was!) trick of giving someone an additional free gift (free reading material they can freely toss in the trash if they hate it that much!) with their free food gift cards - well, I'd call that unjustified anger.
And while I've seen plenty of people get mad at the tiniest things, if they get mad at that too then you know it's the type of hatred Jesus prophesied about: that is, hatred that is towards Him, and without a cause.

Why were the books of the Bible written so many years after the fact. A God that was able to create all things, couldn't have made a Sacred Place that couldn't be destroyed by man. This Sacred place could contain God's plan for mankind within it. No man could dispute it. He left it up to man to write the books of the Bible. Man is corrupt and always will be that live in this world.
Your scientific proof of gods existence is neither scientific nor proof. It’s just a false equivalence fallacy. The building is proof of the builder, the painting is proof of the painter, but creation is not proof of a creator. Why not? Because the universe is not a building or a painting.

Leaving aside the obvious claim of "Something can't come from nothing," the point is that matter and energy could not, with the same intricacy and complexity, rearrange itself into a painting or a building. It's just a denial of the obvious, which is that, with how intricate the universe is, the has to be a creator of some sorts, an intelligent creator.

When you approach an atheist or agnostic and begin your spiel with "you'd better believe in Jesus or you'll go to hell", you are doing them and yourself a disservice. This is a fundamental issue in how Christian faith has been communicated to the world for the past two thousand years, and why there are 2 billion Christians instead of 8 billion. No one is going to respond positively to having their head beaten over.
When I read the bible, the fundamental characteristic of God is love, not judgement. God wants to be in community, so God created humanity. God wants humanity to be in community with itself, so God sent his Son to show us an example of love. Maybe if we Christians led with this message instead of talking about a vindictive God, we'd be more successful in making believers.
The builder or painter argument doesn't work. One could ask who created God. We know a painting was painted because it is consistent with human behavior. I believe in God. But He can't be proven with science.
