I’ve been looking for spear guides for anything but the most basic stuff and this is the only straightforward and competent guide!!! So useful even a year later
hi:) im gonna comment this on every video so i can maybe help boost your channel so yeah im gonna make it as long as possible because maybe it will help more and yeah lol idk why im doing this luv ur content btw
I am quite new to the game and I like the spear, but I don't know who to main and I am picking from Wu Shang, Kaya and Queen Nai, I have Wu and Nai, they are pretty good, haven't tried Kaya tho, who would you recommend as like good and not hard to play, also what do you think is the best finishing move for spear?
Well, I was a Wu Shang main so obviously I'm a bit biased here, but basically every character is viable in this game, so just pick your favorite! As for the finishing move, it depends on what the opponent does, but Sair is probably the most consistent one. Dlight > Sair or Recovery can also be good if the opponent is above you. And if the opponent is off stage, Dair spikes pretty well and Groundpound is easy to hit, so they can also be good. Also, some characters (like Wu Shang) have really good signatures to finish stocks.
A chase dodge can only be done after an attack (on top of a few extra details like having invulnerability frames) A dash can be done whenever you're on the ground. Usually they are just used in different contexts, but since they both share the same button, when you meet the conditions for both a chase dodge and a dash to be possible (hitting an enemy while standing on the ground), you can chose to either chase dodge (by dodging forward, up, or forward-up), or dashing (by holding down before pressing the dodge/dash button). In some situations, dashing is preferable, and in some others chase dodging is preferable.
chase dodge is more risky, but you can use it to pursue opponents if you hit them and they go flying. it's also very useful for recovering back to the platform if you land a hit offstage.
I'm a Wu Shang main who has Spear as his most played weapon. I peaked at 2305 elo in Season 14 playing only random, and since then I stopped caring about the game, only getting 2000 elo every season and stopping after that. I don't consider myself particularly good at this game anymore but I have played Spear quite a bit in Diamond elo, so I listed a bunch of things I noticed that worked pretty well for me.
this guy is way too underrated
Aww, thanks! :)

Thanks! :)
Thanks for the tips man! I have one big issue though how do you dash instead chase dodge mid combo? I can’t manage to do it
To dash instead of chade dodging mid combo, you need to be on the ground and you need to hold down before dashing!
This is the video I need
Very helpful

Wait what the difffrence between chase dodge and dash?
A chase dodge can only be done after an attack (on top of a few extra details like having invulnerability frames)
A dash can be done whenever you're on the ground.
