Safety First: Use a qualified rigger to rig your aerial silks. Be fully warmed up before you attempt any exercises on the aerial silks. Place a crash mat underneath you and have a spotter to assist you.
I get my equipment from www.firetoys.co.uk/?cmid=NnpQ...
Make sure you SUBSCRIBE for lots more videos, thanks for watching!
I finally learned to climb! I thought it would never happen :D It seems so much easier all of a sudden.
Yay, well done you!!!
@@UniqueAerialists Thanks! :) Do you think an air mattress (22cm thick) would be more or less safe to use if I can't afford a professional mat at this point? I do want to get a professional one at some point but just can't afford it right now. Just wondering if an air mattress would be a lesser evil to a regular mattress...
A proper crash mat is the best option, I would have thought an air mattress would be ok for a short while, as long as it is thick enough to effectively cushion your landing and not too hard!
In my opinion the Russian climb is much easier than the French climb
Samantha Smith same, and I can get much more height with it
I don't get the difference.
Okay yeah I got it I'm lowkey dumb hehe
Definitely. I feel like there’s more support and control with Russian. But with russian, if your feeling tired and need to get down, you have to switch back to French to get down safely
I can only do the French climb haha
For anyone wanting to improve their Russian twist: try the flamingo grip for less awkward arm movement . You need some more upperbody strength for that but it looks much better for a performance
Thank you for the help I have a show in 3 weeks I needed some extra help with climbing
Good job i like your style
You are the best
my teacher made us try only the french and russian climb for now, I love the russian one, I find it much easier x°°
I really like the russian flirt, I def wanna try it!
It's the only one I can do right now while I'm getting used to this stretchy fabric!

Very cool and helpful video, thank you!
im from brazil...love your classes. THANK YOU
I don't really have any interest in aerial performance, but I have been looking for aerial silk examples for some superhero animation I am doing, and this is a great help! Funky song too, thanks!
Very cool. Had no clue there were other climbing methods.
When you are doing the bicycle climb, point your back foot and kick it back to your butt. This will keep the silks locked and give you more height.
Since this is an old vid, I'm sure you've learned tons of other climbs by now (crochet, teardrop/rain, zipper, sexy lady, hip key, split tissu)
Thanks for the tip!
Thanks 🙏
I also like the creepy climb which is my favourite
It's amazing that you can do it on both sides.
The only other climbs I can think of are toe climbs, Russian twist with the silks split, and candy cane. Also, I don't know if you know but it seems as though you may not that in almost all of the climbs you can alternate the foot you stand on so you don't have to go up the entire way on one side and it looks pretty if you do so. Such as in french climb you can go up one climb on your right foot then the next on your left and then on your right etc.
Ooh that sounds pretty I'll have to try alternating legs :) thanks!
there is also the crochet climb which is pretty, and you can twist around to add more challenge! (hard on brain but not for the arms ;-) )
ooh I've heard of the crochet climb! I'll have to check it out :)
Darn they are all hard
Do you know how strechy your silks are like low strech medium strech or hight strech and where did you buy your silks?
Love your videos! I'm trying to create a set up at home as well. Can you tell me the width of the silk you recommend and whether you think low to no stretch vs. medium stretch is better?
Thank you! This is the silk that I have and I find it works well for doing advanced moves and is good for my beginner students :) www.firetoys.co.uk/firetoys-aerial-silk-aerial-fabric-tissus-purple.html
russian climbing is so much easier but my instructor used to say otherwise....
I prefer the French climb but most of my students find the Russian climb easier :)
Ok I am try to learn how to climb but I’m wandering what is the easiest climb
Where did you get your mat from?
Do you need a lot of upper body strength to do climbs?
It definitely helps if you have a degree of upper body strength, once you have your head around the technique it's easier :)
5:55 ignore this it for mee
M unable to do any of these
So what to do.?
Practice!
Whats the Name of the Song?
It's called Just For Fun by Johannes Hager :)
I can't do a stradle in mid air
Don't worry, it takes time. :)
French is easy first thing I learnt
Me too!
5:37
Yes Russian is easy but french is taught first bc there’s less hanging for a beginner
Getting serious now - Hocks climb? Serious?
Is she alone when she is doing that
Hi, if the camera doesn't move then I'm filming alone, if the camera moves up and down then I'm with a videographer :)
Unique Aerialists but isnt it a rule that you cant be alone when you do that if you fall there is no one to help you
ideally you should have someone with you but not everyone is lucky enough to have that, if you are in a position that you can train with people then that's great but please understand that not everyone is as fortunate as you. I take other precautions for example I only train moves on my own that I'm 100% ok with, I only started training alone after I had been doing silks for many years so I was experienced enough to know my limits, I only train when people from the neighbouring businesses are about, I tell my husband when I'm training and he'll check on me if he hasn't heard from me by the time I'm supposed to have finished etc :)
There is also Russian spy
I'll have to check it out, thanks!
Russian climb is the easiest for me
russian flirt is easier!
