Thank you so much for 100,000 subscribers! I cannot express how grateful I am, you're legends!
Hooray!
You got the voice of an angel
Is that a forest, fire or poison wyvern on aberration or in the sunken forest in extinction? 3:59
Hell yeah! You deserve it!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
And, after the video was made, it lost the FOV increase & was made into a completely useless movement speed increase after being blinded.
I honestly just use Shadowborn because to me the really close killer FOV just feels really weird and clunky especially while playing killers like Clown so i just like to use Shadowborn to make it look a bit better
I will never forgive them for randomly fucking with clowns fov, I hate to sound like the typical over exaggerating dbd player but it made me stop playing him altogether
Try shadowborn on demo its a whole different feeling an it brings joy, shadowborns an addiction
@@grandma650wait until you see what they did to spirit. I quit altogether because I literally get motion sick
I use it for the same reason but on huntress, it makes hitting shots way easier for me
Higher pov gives advantage so i understand why BHVR don't implement so fast
"Wraith was the hunter, Billy was the chaser, and Trapper was the one who looked fancy in all the promotional material."
That had me in stitches. It's so true.
I wish you showed some footage of the original shadowbox. The FOV was insane.
And to be fair, Shadowborn isn't really just a perk for hunting nowadays, it's used a lot on killers that have powers that make them really fast to help them keep track of survivors better when using those powers.
I run it on oni all the time
i run it on wesker all the time
It’s really just a preference since it doesn’t give you much of an advantage, if any. Running around as Blight with Shadowborn just feels a lot better and the same goes for every other killer.
Higher pov gives many Killer big advantage especially the broken one nurse, blight
So at least tune these Killer a bit and than implement this Feature
@@muysli.y1855 It really doesn’t, trust me. It’s only more comfortable and reduces motion sickness for some.
The devs have said in their last Q&A that FOV would be made into a setting of some kind.
Mintskull went over all their answers, and that one excited players quite a bit.
Sooooo shadow born is useless? Or is it going to get a rework?
@@Khoobus rework, same goes for monitor and abuse
@@Skladak_Killer_98 I wonder what they will get changed too
@@Khoobusthat’s a good question as what could they do with the perks now that the fov can be changed soon
@@redsoldier3884Im not super versed in DBD, so im not sure if this is a perk already, but if there isn't a very flat "adds a few seconds to aura reading" type perk yet, then it could become that
As an old timer. I honestly prefer the stealth theme of the game way back then. Looping was not as prevalent. It was mostly hiding if you hear the killer coming. As a killer player, I wasn't losing my mind over running in circles around god loops. As a survivor, I didn't need to be a pro looper to win the game. I could stealth my way out.
Fast forward to today. Playing killer is miserable because it's loops all day and night. If you don't play a killer that is anti loop, you are basically running in circles around loops until the pallet drops. Then try to catch up to the survivor when they are out in the open. As for survivor, if you are not a god looper, you cannot enjoy the game either. Playing stealth is darn near impossible because aura reading is the current killer meta. It used to be gen regression but that was nerfed to hell. So, the majority of killers run aura builds now.
So, the game now sucks to play as either side. You have to be crazy competitive to win the game. It's not a casual horror game anymore.
Yes, i feel as though as if Dbd completely lost it's original horror theme, nowadays it just feels like a super competive game where you have to sweat like hell in order to win, both for killers and survivors, and the fact that they made the maps brighter and clearer just took away the creepy atmosphere the maps gave off, i started playing DBD in 2021 but i watched gameplay videos alot back in 2017 when the game was barely popular yet scary, the only reason i didnt get the game at that time was because my dad thought it was too scary for me since i was alot younger back then therefore stricter parents, the game definitely feels more fast paced and action packed rather than a slow paced stealth based horror game, i am not saying new DBD sucks but i wish they never changed the lighting of the maps and take away the horror and stealth factor, DBD gameplay now is just draining, specially for killers because you will deal with SWF bully squads all the time and you are forced to sweat to win if you dont have anti loop, and i almost forgot to mention how grindy the game is, you either grind ranks for days until you get 9000 Iridescent shards to buy a non licensed character, or empty your wallet to unlock one.
Also, when will they remove the DC penalty or atleast shorten it?
11:23 PC got those options, I’m on the series X and I don’t have any of those options still
I quit playing back then for about a year when a Claudette showed me the power of the double window cow tree as a Billy. The game went from playing chainsaw nascar in a cornfield the size of a Battlefield map to watching survivors vault all 30 double windows each map had. At least we still had chainsaw flicking.
Good thing they are introducing an FOV slider in the near future.
Using reshade can, to some degree, bring back the clearer vision aspect of the perk, so I wonder what they'll change shadowborn to do after the slider is added.
Hey hey hey, they don't just slap blue green or yellow filters over the entire map. The Decimated Borgo has a red one!
Congrats on 100K! I remember the days of you uploading Nurse games as the main content, cool to see you come so far
And now that a POV slider is optional for all Killers, Shadowborn just gives you Haste whenever you get blinded. Still wildly inferior to Lightborn imo.
God I love this video going over dbd past because it gives me endless amounts of nostalgia. Back when I didn't have a love Haye relationship with this game and was actually scared of it.
These vids are always interesting to watch, would love to keep seeing these

Now a blight with shadowborn : you vault? He catches up. You stun him? He catches up. You blind him? He catches up. You jump out a window? He catches up. DS? He catches up

I'm glad the FoV stuff is just an accessibility option. If the game was more focused around Survivors being stealthy, it would suck to just get whatever FoV you want but in those cases there should always have been a vignette area where you have no dynamic information (can't see survivors, items etc) anyways instead of forcing low FoV that can give people headaches. I think it's part of why I find the game more enjoyable these days, it's not hard on my eyes and brain like that anymore.
Yeah
All of Wraith’s perks are more useless than I am
I wish more games had this sort of documentaries going over sagas of game balance and other such oddities. I don't play DbD at all yet (after a quick primer on "stab survivor twice, carry them to hook, then break generators") I'm still able to follow what was happening and why it was funny/important
You can find this type of content for most popular games
@@G_Moos Retrospective documentaries? Not really. Team Fortress 2 for example, doesn't have anything nearly this good on the Dead Ringer, usually just a few complaints on old tier list videos
I've been seeing so many clones of your content but honestly, none of them can match your humor and presentation. Keep making such awesome stuff, man!
Don’t be vague. Name them!!!
"Clones of your content" aka people doing dbd commentary?
That's... Not some kind of copyrighted type of content dude, anyone doing dbd commentary is okay lol
i need them to implement an fov slider. i miss having 4 perk slots available.
You don't need increased FOV to play

5:00 sounds like how SMT describes attack damage, poorly
The DBD devs did an FAQ on Reddit s few month ago. An FOV slider is on the way. So a Shadowborn rework is also coming as well
OMG I totally forgot the doctor could switch between two modes 🤣
I had a personal idea for a shadowborn rework. You could ofc tune it but i believe a rework is in order if a FOV slider is added.
Shadowborn:
At the start of the trial, gain undetectable for 60/75/90 seconds, and a 10% haste buff. The haste effect ends early if a survivor loses a health state.
Loving the DbD historian series let's goo
The entire issue with perks is this balance discrepancy
"Increase FOV by 15" (something that should be in the video settings to help avoid nausea)
"If you hook a survivor and they're unhooked when you're at least 24 meters away and you do that 3 times and then the totem hasn't been broken with a 14 second action by one of four survivors in a spot you don't get to choose then you can down them"
"1/16th of survivor perks can be put on a totem infinitely and the killer can't prevent it from being spammed without a dedicated perk for it" BHVR where's the hex breaking perk survivors need to take to destroy totems
Boons have already been heavily nerfed and are very uncommon at higher mmr, they take 14 seconds to place, 14 seconds they aren't on a generator. They have no way of stopping the killer from snuffing it, the killer can stop survivors from cleansing.
I do wonder what happens to the perk once FOV is a feature, not a perk.
As someone who used it back then I don't remember it increasing the FOV, just brightening your vision with the added debuffs. The developers stated they did this, same with lightborn and moon offerings, to have better control over lighting on maps.
i wonder what they'll do with shadowborn since the fov slider is going to be added
"Born Identity" combo: Lightborn and Shadowborn
I would legitimately love a perk now that increases the speed you get blinded, it would make flashy saves so much harder, but make regular flashing much easier, probably for some good upside
Congrats on the milestone dude! Been a wild ride watching your videos. Even before I was subbed, I remember watching some of your nurse games back in the day. Crazy times, here's to your next milestone🎉🎉❤
Well this aged well. Were getting the slider
"survivors are more comfortable being in the open"
me: >.>
I never liked being in chase and was never good at it. i prefer to hide, do gens right under the killer's nose, and perfected the great skill check mini game. and out of necessity because in most of my games, the other survivors don't do anything but walk around and hook farm each other. so i'm glad to be the one that does the gens. i actually like watching the bar fill up : )
I still never understood why they need "perks" to be able adjust my FOV when playing DbD. When it's just in the settings on every other game I play.
I distinctly remember shadowborn winning me a match back when fog and darkness were real mechanics. It was coldwind farm with darkest light and thickest fog, NOBODY COULD SEE ANYTHING
4:01 what is a wyvern doing on aberration?
The music is from Rayman 3 for the ps2 from the gliding sequence
ayyy congrats on 100k man :).
Congrats on the 100k subs, you deserve it
I want whatever set up this dude got going on cause that gameplay is buttery smooth chefs kiss
It’s ridiculous that it’s taken them this long to even consider adding a dedicated FoV setting.
Because an increased field of view can give an information advantage especially in a game like dead by daylight. Stretched res functioned as a field of view increase for survivors when it was still accessible and was viewed as cheating because of the advantage it gave. Nobody needs an increased FOV for free in a game where it can give a competitive advantage.
Bro it took them until rather recently to finally add in a colorblind mode so colorblind people didn't have to run Bloodhound or get fucked.
@@dutz3377 This only help soloq because it the worse/hardest way to play dbd.
Actuall dbd rank: swf>killer>soloq
Fov for Killer especially the broken one nurse, blight gives gameplay advantage, harder to get out line of sight which is important to counter
@@NewSirenSongexcept for people who literally get motion sick over smaller FOVs...
@@blueyandicy I won't support the decision, it was cheating when survivors did it, I feel the same about the situation in regards to killers.
Showing us a clips of the old SB would have been nice
hard to get
You should also make a video about the Cow tree, how it changes thru the years
I loved shadowborn because it helped with my vision issues as the already heavily zoomed in fov is a pain on my eyes.
My Tv won't let me adjust the screen to fit so I literally can't play without shadowborn.
I didn't knew they add FPS and so on into the options.
I was wondering why my game felt so weird when i played slinger
I use to be a Claudette main who ran quick and quiet, dance with me, iron will, and lyth I think is how it's spelled. But after learning how to loop I settled on vault speed build and have used it for years except for spine chill since its been nerfed. I usually can't lose the killers anyways because people are just to good at tracking nowadays unless they are new or bad.
I thought I had heard otz say BHVR was planning on putting in an FOV slider, and that a shadowborn rework would come with it
still can't believe this is the same guy that made zimbabwe bubba videos
Random but anyone know how Ardetha gets his game to look so smooth? Is it something in the config files? I assume it's motion blur at play but thought I'd ask anyways.
He used his own config editor to get 120 FPS (which you don't need anymore since it's in the settings now) and the motion blur is a Nvidia filter for streaming/recording
If we do get an FOV slider it would kinda make the perk useless, and I figured killers were intended to have a specific FOV and not much more.
That's true, some people just want more advantages for free without having to sacrifice a perk slot for it. They just call it a relic of the past because they want it for free and don't actually care about intended game design
@@NewSirenSong you know what other games do that have an FOV slider? They just balance around the fact that players might have more than the "intended" FOV.
Why Behavior can't seem to do that is beyond me, not to mention FOV is an accessibility issue since some people get motion sick
@@mastemathedank4043then with higher Fov nurse and blight need a nerf without its just making the strongest Killer more stronger
@@muysli.y1855 1. They probably need a nerf anyway.
2. Read my comment again
If FOV was a slider, any killer actively choosing to not set it at maximum, would be at a disadvantage. FOV hacks used to be a thing for a reason.
I’ve never had a video lose me so quickly, in the last 15 seconds.
I think this is exactly why the devs have waited so long to do something like an FOV slider
That implies to quite literally EVERY COMPETITIVE VIDEO GAME EVER THAT HAS AN FOV SLIDER. I don't see Apex Legends removing FOV because it "gives a competitive advantage." What a completely nonsensical take
@@blueyandicy
*applies
...and yes, it does.
In literally every game that allows you to set FOV, the hardcore sections of those player bases ALWAYS have it as far out as possible. This is not a debate among those circles. It just is.
The reason the devs of Apex don’t care as much, as well as most shooter devs in general, is because their focus is on long range engagements, against players who are also in first person, using the center of your screen to aim.
DBD is pretty much the exact opposite of that, with some niche exceptions, as well as having a far greater emphasis on both situational awareness, and cat-and-mouse style gameplay.
Having the FOV at max, in THIS game, can be the difference between either: spotting the movement of a hiding survivor out of the corner of your eye, and not seeing ANY survivors for the first five minutes of a match.
It’s MASSIVELY important, so much so that it quite literally can cost you the match, because of how much time can be wasted simply looking for a target.
...and time is everything in this game.
hey, sorry if it’s dumb, but does anybody know how to change the color of the heartbeat and killer vision cone like in the background videos?
I'm still confused on what you mean by "clearer vision." Did that have to do with the old moonlight system or smth?
I believe the map was brighter
Shadowborn Rework Idea:
-Whenever a survivor enters the killer’s LOS, their aura is revealed.
-This aura reveal lasts for 1 second after LOS is broken.
-This perk deactivates for 30 seconds whenever the killer is blinded.
That would be awful for the health of the game having that much free aura reading with no way to tell its in play unless you have distortion. It would also remove fun stealth aspects of the game, not everyone like run away from the killer simulator 5000, some people enjoy the intensity of wondering whether or not they'll be seen as it fits closer to the suspense aspect dbd was built on.
@@NewSirenSong You think Stealth is a survivor thing in DBD?
@@lmao9692 it is quite literally the foundation the game was built on. Generators were intended to force survivors into the open. There's a reason crouching, walking, and hiding in lockers are included basekit in the survivor mechanics and not for majority of killers.
@@NewSirenSong The game was also designed to be a horror game.
Look at it now.
@@lmao9692 that doesn't mean there should be a single perk that could deny all stealth in LOS of the killer. Especially with no cost on the killers end. Stealth is a legitimate option to take against killers at times as 20 seconds wasted looking for a well hidden survivor is 20 seconds for your team to heal/unhook/cleanse/repair.
Shadowborn? I think you meant to say my dedicated perk slot on killer.
did they finally make it so you can change resolution and fullscreen without needing to go in the config files?
Huh, so Shadowborn used to be the perk I always expected it to be - the opposite of Lightborn in terms of blinding. I remember reading that perk description to see what negative blinding things it did and being very surprised to see... nothing. Probably for the best though.
i love how every time i watch a video from you, you play rayman 3 music. good shit lol

things like these are what make me wish dbd stayed a team horror hide-and-seek oriented game
I would love Clearer vison back, i play with Coloreblind glasses, and one downside is it makes the screen darker, would not mind having a clearer screens, since messing with brightness i think is against polecy or something. i also use bloodhound for easyer tracking since i lose people more easy, started to enjoy stelth killers a lot, used to be a doctor main >w:3
Ardetha were you sober when you were playing that DBD match as Bubba against Ayrun?
I am proud to say that I was here long before you reached 100k. Congrats. You deserve it and more. Can you make a video where you explain why entitlement is so much higher in survivor mains rather than killer mains ? Give us your take on current state of DBD.
This guy is so good at making these vids. they are so entertaining he deserves more subs
I disagree with the slider, as being able to play on a higher fov setting is for sure an advantage, and not everyone is capable of playing like that. Regardless of my opinion, though, if we got one, what range would people want to play at?
it is not a big advantage at all imo, i doubt any shadowborn users use it cause they can have an "advantage" mostly is cause it makes the game feel faster and smoother, or cause they have dizziness with the horrible killer FOV
@@dorimeameno5514To counter nurse you need to get line of sight with higher Fov nurse get harder to outplay Yeah 90% of Killer have no advantage but the broken one Nurse, Blight get
@@muysli.y1855 The fov isn't vertical, this means the nurse won't be able to see over obstacles she shouldn't it just feels nice to play and doesn't give a massive advantage in comparison to gen regression or aura perks for example, just a little QOL addition to the game

That poor clauddette in the first game lol
Funnily enough, if the first version of shadowborn existed today the instablind part of it could be better as it would mess up flashy save timings
They did confirm they’re “working on” an FoV slider. Most likely have it planned, not actually working on it. Doubt it’s that hard to work on, as they announced this in the Reddit Q&A a while back
Regarding the beginnings of pallet looping...
Wanna talk about nostalgia? How about playing killer when every pallet loop has 2 pallets?
Imagine the old pallet layouts with the newer survivor perks that effect how pallets are used. 😂
There was a time when this man played Bubba and screeched into his mic
I'm only a baby nurse, but is shadowborn not still useful for her, when she looks down after a blink? Good and interesting video!
true facts in the beginning, imo u still can clearly see who are the "older" DbD players, they be more stealthy than the random get found in the first 10sec guy
Something that ruined Survivor gameplay for me was now little hiding and evading detection actually figures into the Survivor gameplay loop. It's primarily doing gens, and when the killer finds you it becomes looping and running. I wish there was a way to play the game as a survivor and try to hide more from the killer, instead of just crouching behind a rock or bush until the killer finds and chases you.
been here since 10k subs brother 🙏🙏
I agree. FOV slider is needed nowadays. Shadowborn can be retired entirely or do a complete rework as something else
Ever since I first started using shadowborn, I literally cannot live without it
i feel like, at least today, that downside of being blinded faster would have actually been helpful because if survivors dont know its in play they would end up mistiming flashlight saves
