iv been playing rdr trying to get this achievement for hrs and then my wife sees me playing and asked if she could try and after 15min she got it lol I love her

This is one of hardest trophies in the game, i can't beilieve this guide video came out literally 2 days after the game's release
This took me ages to do, i have finally done it now ( looking to 100% completion of the game ) it's amazing how you start off with a tiny sum of cash,and get to thousands. Rockstar have overdone themselves with this game to make it as realistic as possible. Well Done To RS.
This was my first achievement after the intro mission and race with Bonnie. The ringer was also my first ever shot in horseshoes. I feel bad that since then I have never gotten another ringer ever again. I got this during the first week this game was avaliable.
Best Game I have ever played, the ending literally annihilated my heart, this is a must buy, if not a steal- though buying is better
This fucking challenge is very upseting and annoying you never get the right time to throw it and it never gets not even close to the target.
was hilarious. tried afew matches and nothing. so l watched this video and ended up getting 2 ringers in that match.lol
if this gets good reviews im buying it because i have been really excited for a well made western shooter game and rockstar makes it even more worthwhile!!

just did this now.. took me ages and then finally 2 ringers in one go.. mental.
for the longest time I had no idea how to play horse shoes every time I threw it it just went wild seemingly no matter how I aimed it, now I know
Worst achievement to get
Thank you, you are now a god to me. 1:16 is what got me a ringer. I hit the peg and I got so mad because my trophy didn't show up for like 30 seconds, so I threw my controller down and started to walk away then heard the trophy sound. Thank you ! ^_^

@rainbowplastic WWII started in 1939, and they had thompsons during the end of the first world war in 1917, but was not issued/ declined

@wellguesswhatIthink It's like, if someone was playing basketball and when they missed they said, "Oh I was so close", you say "Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades". In other words, being close is just as bad as not being close at all.

@shrtstff1710 Thats when you get a check off your list Outfits. Meaning search for a chest in that area. if you played the main mission to fight thru the Boxes and you go into the warehouse go up the stairs to a little office and thier will be a chest on the side inside the office.

@SuperSmashBrosBrawI it has be after WW1 because the mauser is fully auto and i dont think they had that in 1914
I got this achievement the first time I played horseshoes, and I didn't actually get a ringer. It was actually a wild shot, and it landed on one of the sideboards, actually on top of the board, like it was straddling it, and suddenly the achievement popped up. I still haven't gotten a ringer, or even won a game of horseshoes, but I have the achievement.
@MrWooaa they said "we MAY port it" but the MAY doesn't make it sure. and as for me... i really doubt that.
I aimed two at the same time in the same round I was so shocked I couldn't even take a pic lol, it even looked like the trophy logo
This strategy really did help, got it in my first game afterwards. Thanks a lot guys, Im going to 1000g this game.
@wellguesswhatIthink Being close to a target onyl counts if your'e throwing horseshoes (can still count for points) or a gernade, because it explodes.

@saveme2000 in its most basic form yes. it has similar feel to it. you will notice certain similarities but this game is much different. it isnt gta reskined with revolvers and horses. this is a western game

I just got the achievement after watching this video. It was exactly like the video it was at Macfalane ranch and it was night time. Thank you achievement hunter
@NightAssassin017 it already is, the first one was red dead: revolver, and i beleive there was another before that in a DOOM style
Pretty easy, a breeze compared to what Bioshock 2 had. That was a pain in the ass. But I literally decided to watch this after a few crappy tries and played right after, and I got the achievement!!!
+NovusIgnis Honestly have no idea what I was talking about here lol I think perhaps I meant achievement wise as I was playing both games at the same time period.

i got lucky and got a ringer on my first few tries, but it took me about 20 minutes to beat the horse shoes game itself

@plamicus worked for me, although i gave it a bit more power by accident about 1/3 between middle & top line on the upswing. but it hit the pole & held it back.
@jessopsucks yea true about the auto-aim but auto-aim helps here since its a 3rd person shooter its a bit harder to aim at enemies when in 1st person is way easier. you can turn-off the auto-aim for Red Dead its in the options
On The first mission where you follow the officer to catch a gang member that spotted you looking at him! He says to catch him alive but he wouldn't stop shootin me so I killed him! Question is do you get an achievement for not killing him? And also what about the guy that wants you to save his friend from being executed

I got it right on the line was aiming perfectly and it still managed to go too far and the side
I tried this so many times, then I gave up. After a while I tried again and I got it on my first try :D
@mariotttttttt Red Dead Redemption was RDR2. The first was Red Dead Revolver on PS2.
@PhoenixBird35 That's what I did when I returned to the horseshoes area and lost again. That's how I won the dastardly trophy

@crazyalyaa You have to get the horshoe to wrap around the goal...they make a comment about it, it like goes "ding" yeah, you have to get the horseshoe around it though, not just hit the pole or win the game =\
i got this on my second toss of my very first time ever doing this i was so glad i didnt have to spend hours doing this

@DtCKclan You should see what I did to his replacement after I tried and failed again. Let's just say that even though I didn't win this trophy, I was able to get the 'dastardly' trophy pretty easily.

That NPC made me think that someone just took Gus and the Cloud song joke and smashed them together to create that name.
So if I do end up getting this game, that will be the only thing I think about while playing horseshoes.

@Jake230695 agreed. I even find my self trying to aim myself in the regular game. I wont lie though, I never thought this was going to be good multiplayer. Its just like GTA. But the single player is awesome in my opinion.
The best part about this is that you get an achievement and you use it to aquire a piece of an outfit

What none of these numpties mention is that when u throw dont just tap the RT button (360) to throw, hold it down...

actually, on this game specifically, the ps3 cant play it in true HD, only the 360 can. Its a well known fact that 360 handles cross-platforms much better, so stop flaming
The first (and only) time I played horseshoes I got a ringer but no achievement. I thought there must be more to the achievement so came here and, nope, that's exactly what I did but the durned game wanted nothing to do with me. How sad.
haha right after I watched this I got it my second throw but whenever I tried it a game before I couldn't get it XD

I completely agree, and the songs randomly playing at key points really enhance those emotions. Such as the song playing during the credits. And the ending shot. Just amazing amazing game.
I can't believe my luck with this rotten minigame. Countless games and perfect throws later and I still don't have a ringer. I had three that were semi-ringers (they were around it partially, but didn't count) and even got two to balance on top of the pole. It's annoying me to no end. The only time I got a ringer I blew it by bouncing it off the pole with the next horseshoe I threw.
lol...ive hit the stick like 20 times...ive even got one when the horseshoe stands up and tilt at the stick. But i have never got a ringer! :(
