- With the recent release of Red Dead Redemption on PS4, removing those forsaken multiplayer trophies I figured now was as good a time as any to finally go for Red Dead Redemptions platinum trophy. How bad could it be? Well not as bad as some other Rockstar titles but this platinum trophy was still an absolute grind to get!

Also there is technically a missable trophy. You can miss the trophy to do 20 story missions with the same horse if you're like me and enjoy riding off cliffs. I didn't realize this trophy was a thing until I almost finished the story, so I had to start a new game and do 20 more missions to get this trophy.

The original Xbox 360 version is one of the few titles I specifically grinded out 100% for. (Didn't bother achievement hunting.) And it was long as hell, but I love the game so much that it wasn't a big deal.

Got the platinum and 100% DLC completion in RDR1 around this time last year. Got the platinum for RDR2 earlier this year and just waiting on the physical release of RDR on PS4 to come out in October to do it all again, and I cannot wait... adore the franchise 😊
Congratulations on the platinum! I love the red dead series and i hope you will do RDR2 platinum one day too, even if it is a big grindy one. I remember it was taken me over 200 hours to get the plat but, i also took my time and did extra stuff because i enjoy the game so much.

Pro tips
1. Don’t replay the mission after the game is done. (For the Gold Rush trophy) Idk why this is a thing but you lose all of your stats upgrades when replaying those missions.
2. Getting the 18 bears is a hard grind but it’s best to do that after the game is done because there a fast time skip when doing chores to make 3 days spawn.
3. After the game, the best way to grind the $10000 and collecting cards is to do that at a shop. If it does get full, just get rid of the platinum cigarettes and restart the process

I got the platinum on 2 and just finished this too. The online and animal spawns almost put me off on 2, this is far less grindy but I think 2 is definitely the better game though. Oh and the RNG in Undead Nightmare? That nearly put me off bothering lol. For some reason I couldn’t find Famine.
I went after all the achievements 15 years ago with this one, but I finally gave up short by 5 achievements (out of 70 something on xbox360). However, I did 100% complete the single player.
And I can def relate about the chupacabra and unicorn. Very frustrating.
I can relate on the undead nightmare 100% I’m not lying when I searched around the entire right side of Mexico for 4 1/2 hours straight until I found that animal it was so pain

The chupacabra is easily one of the most fucking annoying thing I’ve ever had to deal with in a game
It's so damn random, I was looking for the stupid thing for hours!
took me 305 hours to platinum red dead 2 ! I took on the harder achievements like skin deep and left the more “easier” ones for last. I am conflicted getting this because challenges, bears, horses and animals are frustrating. it took me 5 hours in rd2 to find a damn skunk ! I don’t think i can do that again 😂 but congratulations
If you can get RDR2's plat, you'll have no problem with this one but you're right it can be frustrating at times 😂

Undead Nightmare is good fun mate (outside of some trophies) but this was a fun one to make!
I WENT FOR the PS3 version plat a few years back, and it was true pain hundreds of hours in a dead multiplayer getting max rank.

I recently got the platinum trophy for Red Dead Redemption on PS4, and I gotta say my experience was a lot less tedious than MayorHairBear’s. Mainly because I decided to work towards 100% completion while still making my way through the story. I’ve also gotten 100% back on PS3 so I already knew what to expect. I pretty much did everything as John so that when I completed Remember My Family side quest as Jack, then my 100% completion trophy would pop(that is if I hadn’t forgotten to buy one last rare weapon in Escalera, leaving me with 99.5% completion lol). I also didn’t start Undead Nightmare until I was fully done the main game.
I went through Undead Nightmare with the same strategy, going for challenges and other miscellaneous tasks before reaching endgame. I do have a tip that might help people when they are searching for the undead horses as well as the chupacabra. This was the last two tasks I needed to complete for 100%, and I spent hours searching the same area where they reportedly spawn with zero luck. However, one thing I did notice that whenever I was searching these areas was the random encounters that would spawn by me. I always ignored them, thinking they were just a waste of time. But the one time I chose to help one of these strangers fend off the undead, almost immediately after the chupacabra spawned. Exact same scenario when I was searching for the unicorn. It could’ve been pure luck, or I like to think the game was rewarding me for my good deed. That concluded my red dead journey, which I found to be a great experience.
Not everyone likes to progress games the same way I do, I understand. But I just wanted to share my platinum experience hoping it helps other gamers with theirs. Thank you for making this video, and I’m excited to see you take on Red Dead 2 someday!
I definitely think that is where I made a mistake in terms of enjoying the platinum journey for longer. Splitting the platinum into main missions and then do the side stuff just wasn't the way to go here and while I still think if I had the same RNG I would have ended up dreading the platinum overall I may have enjoyed it more. But I'll take those lessons into RDR2 and I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
The unicorn won’t pop up on your map you gotta keep an eye out for it near Agave Vejo
Not sure if you mention this in the video, but I read somewhere that riding the Death horse makes the Chupacabra harder to find.. Don't know if this is myth or truth, but I murdered my horse and just rode around on the dead horse the game gives you and I almost immediately got the thing to spawn.
Huh that is interesting. I'd not heard about this but it is possible. Cannot confirm nor deny the myth but I was using War as my horse when I finally found it so potential!
FYI even if dead eye reloads your gun it doesn't effect the sharpshooter challenge, least it didn't for me

Thank you mate and really when you're starting out its more luck than anything. You just need a video to hit the algorhythm but to help that as much as you can, a good title and thumbnail goes a long way. Outside of that, seriously I cannot recommend using this time to just hone your videos. Learn more about editing, scripting etc. I've had this channel for almost 8 years and it wasn't until 2020 I hit 1000 subs. Shi can take time so control what you can control. Learn your editing software, look to other creators for inspiration in regards to thumbnails, titles, general video layout and figuring out a compelling "story" for your videos. It's no easy road to guarantee more views, it's just about building up a loyal audience and you go from there hoping UA-cam recommends your videos to more and more people

it's funny how people called this port lazy; but I swear, every time a game gets remastered, people complain that "it looks worse than the original". Look at the negative feedback that the bioshock remasters, return to arkham games, and gta remastered got. You have a bunch of online nostalgic dorks in the comments saying "Why didn't they port the original!?"

I love the RDR series, but holy hell they are some of the most *miserable* games to get completion on.
So much time is spent just wandering around spawn points for rare animals-and if you need one for multiple things, then god help you.
Especially the RDR2 mission collecting feathers for the hats. I cannot believe that's a real mission not just some collect-a-thon for achievements.
Even with the guide it's a horrible grind.
I know, this was my second Rockstar game I've 100%'d and it was quite the jump in terms of grind!
the exotics mission in rdr2 was AWFUL. i spent HOURS saving and reloading to respawn the birds after killing them. wouldn’t wish that shit on my worse enemy 😭😭

I loved Red Dead Redemption so much i played it for over 600 hours before finishing the story. Im a free roam whore, you let me go where ever i want and im gonna do it.
Then when i did platinum it, i went and replatinumed it under the wifes psn name. Ive done that with a few games i really liked like RDR, GTA4, LA Noire.

This video highlights the sad reality of platinum hunting, constantly hearing the word 'slog' or 'grindy' when describing RDR is so disheartening. Plats take the joy out of even the greatest games. I'm as guilty as anyone else of this as well.

My advice for Liars Dice is to try and get the other players to take each other out and make sure you never get stuck with having to up the total number past what you know you have
