About Gold Shaw Farm: Gold Shaw Farm is more of a farm-in-progress than an honest-to-goodness farm. Our dream is that someday, we can transform our 150+ acre parcel of land into a regenerative and productive homestead and farm.
"He's kissing the girl duck..." 😂😂
I haven't watched this one yet and you guys are giving me mixed feelings here. What am I getting myself into.
Prepare yourself lmfao @@GetFitEatRight
@@GetFitEatRight oh, prepare yourself for a ducking roller coaster!
That's the most diplomatic answer I've seen an adult give cunningly avoiding that difficult the Birds and the erm Birds conversation in this case 😂.
''i hope you dont break up until college time'' HAHAAHAH
I sure hope that kid takes his own advice 😂
Morgan, you'll have to set a reminder for yourself to share that audio clip with your nephew when he's about to graduate high school
that cracked me up hahaha
The kid cheering on the duck mating is the absolute gem of this vid
That was the cutest lol
LOL
Banding also means that you don't have to find a large-animal vet to come out to do the castration. Given the difficulty you're having finding a vet who works with large animals, that is huge.
Thank you so much for mentioning my book Morgan! So glad you liked it, and I can’t wait for it to officially release next month 🎉 🦆
Congratulations with your book!
"kissing is on the lips"..
You handled that well Morgan
How to explain duck matting to kids 9:28, hahah that was so funny, the way you talked to your nephew.
Looks behind tarp.”How you doing?” ANGRY DUCK HISSING right up in your face!😂😂😂
Goose
?trying to hatch an egg? or get pregnant?! what coiuld be so secretive!
@@sgrvtl7183 I agree maybe trying to hatch an egg!
Congratulations on calving season! Banding is never fun. Props for showing the not fun part of farming. Most channels seem to omit that whole BIG part of farming. I'm a fan of the Tri-Band Bander made by S&J tools. IIRC the bands are natural rubber. They open wider for larger testicles. They are flat on one side so they don't roll off the tool which I find to be a huge plus. Don't want to worry about a band rolling off when there is so much other stuff going on entailed with that procedure. Since the bands are wider there is a reduced chance of infection as well. I hold the goats in my lap and my girlfriend does the banding. I find that humming to them calms and quiets them down almost immediately. 🐐🐐🐐
Pam here…leave her stay Baby Bea…she was the only Baby that year.
I got a real middle-school chortle out of your nephew asking - about Ralph and his lady - the classic question, "What are they doing?" Though a little surprised he didn't know - major props to his parents for apparently policing his internet usage successfully!
I've heard it said that ideally, you want to castrate your bull calves before they're three days old. After that, they've figured out how to run.
The logic of "If they don't go home, they'll never be able to come back to the farm" is the same as in the Pippi Longstocking series, when she (who didn't go to school) got jealous of her two two friends who were starting their school summer vacation, because she wanted a school summer vacation too.
Just like in the movie marley and me
" Come on give him a break. He's losing his balls today m"
Atta boy Ralph. Proud of you! When my fiancé and I started dating we bonded over finding out the we both have dead dads named Ralph.
"What are they doing?"
"Uh....Kissing"
😂😂😂
Its so good for kids to visit the farm
the best!
Weird chicken coop popularity: isn't it natural for chickens to lay eggs in a protected space? Hence they go to the only nesting box in the structure. Maybe a small project for the year is to build some roll away nesting boxes to put in there next winter.
Ngl a part of me loves the kids coming to the farm and has me thinking maybe one day one of them would want to takeover the farm when it inevitably becomes too difficult and that thought kinda make me wanna cry 🖤🖤🖤 they look like they really enjoy the farm and are gentle with the animals 😭🖤
Banding is definitely more humane for the little calf. Glad you decided on that method, though mama was not delighted being away from her calf. LOL.
I disagree. To each their own. But to me a quick cut is more pain initially but then it's over! But with banding it's painful for days and weeks as it slowly rots off. But like.i said different methods for different farms! 😊
@@dirtroadfarm.4024 na it go's numb after a bit
@@dirtroadfarm.4024 more like when you sit on your foot and it goes numb/falls asleep because of lack of circulation
So sweet the way your nephews treat the animals! Elliott will never forgive you!! 😍
when I was a kid, I would have LOVED having a farm to visit. Such great memories you are building.
Its wonderful seeing children on the farm, such a good learming experience for them
What a wonderfully weird buffet of vignettes!! Great work!
And this is why I am not a farmer. The second Elliot started making distress noises I broke out in a cold sweat and started pacing... I know it needs to be done, but I could not do it. It's all really silly considering I'm an RN and people in distress don't really phase me at all.
well thats terrifying. Does explain a lot though
I think that’s the reason Doctors have that Hippocratic oath (First do no harm) and old school impeccable manners (if they are trained well): because they no longer have inherent scruples: they can (and do) stick a knife (well: scalpel) in you without batting an eye.
(I‘m a nurse on a surgical ward. One often forgets that those „everyday situations“ are not everyday situations for the patients, quite the opposite.)
Yeah, it needs to be done. But it should be done humanely by a vet, not like this, that'll cause days of pain and discomfort for the calf.
@@Stadtpark90 Agreed! I have a great bedside manner and a ton of empathy, but when it comes down to it we have to do what we have to do.
If you have a vet willing and able to go to Morgan's farm PLEASE share the info with him. It is extremely hard to find large animal vets in his area.
lol, those little guys are determined, way to go, Ralph! I have a bantam sized rooster and all my hens are full sized. He loves the big girls, and last year we hatched an entire clutch of his offspring. He is such a great roo, too. He takes care of his ladies, and he’s good with humans, too.
My dog, olive, 100% believes her name is Puppy so Baby B can absolutely keep her name baby B
the smile when you talked about the family being there for the weekend 😊
I must admit I felt so sorry for the mother and calf when he was being banded. He was so so scared of you bless him. His momma was trying really hard to reach him under the fence. It's a shame there was no easier, calmer way to do it, but I'm sure it was way less traumatic than it was for your other bull. At least the calf looks nice and healthy, that's good to see. I can't wait to see if you get any black calves from your other pregnant cows, that would be awesome. Have a great week Morgan.
Toby and Abby are doing a really good job watching out your animals
Your nephews are freaking adorable and such smart cookies. That being said I’ve been single so long Ralph just gave me hope right now 😂
Morgan teaches The Birds & The Bees! 😂😂 “Happy Anniversary you two!!” 😂😂😂
I saw Elliott Smith in Gothenburg, Sweden in 2000! He was my sisters favorite! ❤️❤️❤️
The nephews are creating amazing memories for a lifetime.
Are the geese boycotting in protest of what they consider unacceptable nesting options?
Love the Italian music 🎶 🎵 on the background of spaghetti 🍝 😋 😍 👌
Ralph has " Big Duck Energy" !
The geese lay in communal nests. Maybe because she’s setting on eggs, they’ve stopped laying or there’s another nest somewhere.
Loved the Italian music when the chickens were chowing down on the pasta! 🎶🎶🍝
Amazing how quickly they slurped it all up!
That calf wrestling match was something. He has a deep scream.
Re: Baby B... I have a 13 year old cat who answers to Kitten. On paper her name is Trio, but habits die hard, and if she answers to it then that's her name. 😂
Yeah, my elderly chihuahua (he just went on hospice for his heart condition) gets routinely called Baby Boy.
A kitten we raised 15 years ago, that we recently lost, thought his name was "No" for the first year of his life.
My cat answered to Baby Kitten and Caspy-baby til the day he passed at age 14. My other cat answered to Cozzy-kitten. My dog (5 years) still answers to Puppy.
Waa
Thank you for adding the part where you show the dinosaur drawings & you & your nephew playing. As well as the scene with rop ‘em bop ‘em in what looked to be in the family room or basement.. That insight about you was really cool. Shows a different facets of you. Very cool. You’re a fun uncle. That’s very cool
RALPH ENJOYER HERE ! WHAT A CHAD, WE LOVE RALPH
I cant wait to see his offspring
That little lyrical interlude was lovely!😂
Wow. I’m seriously impressed. You are an amazing farmer. 👍🏽
I think every kid should spend time on a farm. It helps for them to understand where & how we get food. My niece thought chicken that we eat came from a package & other chickens stayed at a farm... She was 3..
The T-Rex interlude was top tier content 😂❤
My birds have been getting squishy pumpkin and squash treats lately too!
i love gold Shaw farm!!
Ralph is so tiny compared to the rest of the ducks…. I love it ❤
beautiful cattle, love naming the steers after dead rock stars!
“Happy anniversary!” 😇🤣🤣 family time is so special, and it looked like you guys had some very fun time together!! I hope they never put it together either that they have to leave to come back because it’s so cute that that works for them to be ok with leaving 😇🥲❣️❣️❣️
I love it!! Happy anniversary Ralph 😂😂😂
About the leftover spaghetti and meatballs -- there are various warnings out there about onion and garlic being fed to poultry. Some say that garlic is good to feed to poultry, even that it helps them lay more eggs. Can one get pre-seasoned omelets that way? (Kidding.) Yes it sure is cute to see poultry eat long pasta.
I thought that was just my Sammy! My salmon faverole (sp?) lays where ever she feels like it. By the feed tub? Sure. Along the run wall? Why not? Right in the middle of the floor? Heck yeah!
It was bold of you to show us the banding part. Ballsy, one might say.
Did you also tag little Eliott ? I was surprised that you didn't mention it, although it would have seemed like the perfect time to do it.
My lambs take a while for the balls to drop. I have to wait a few weeks before I can band them
That hat looks really great on you Morgan!
Morgan I am have the same problem right now too. My ducks and chickens aren't laying good anymore, they were have such a good week of laying. But now they just stopped.
i love your nephews comments ~ maybe they could narrate a segment in the future ~
they sound like that great age when you can tell them things & they will accept your logic ~ leaving the farm to come back makes total sense ~
Ralph is a short king, love to see it
Bread camera lmao 🤣 😂 😆 😂 I get to hear so many terms on your channel never heard of before ❤❤❤❤
Well done for the banding, not easy if you haven't done it before. They don't half wriggle!
7:07 that orange T-Rex definitely has a Boston accent 😂
I have to say that I love it when the Coos take centre stage. Perhaps not to the same level that Anna from the JT and Anna channel. She's obsessed with Highland cattle. Spring births are the highlight of the farm year. Hopefully, you will end up with one more steer and two heifer calves before it's all over. Equally, another calf before the end of the week would be fabulous. 😊❤❤❤😊
Haha "kissing the girl duck." I told my grandkids the rooster and the hen were getting married. Then they wanted to know why the rooster had so many wives!
I love it when your family comes to visit ❤
You and your nephews are funny! Thanks for making me laugh, there was great moments! I'm glad that Ralph and the new calf are doing well.
I just love watching your videos ❤
I like your farm you are a dedicated farmer well done
Blessings!
How did you miss naming the old steer (RIP) Kurt COWbain? “Happy anniversary you two, I hope you don’t break up until college time” 😂🤣 Those kids are awesome
Hi.... Morgan Nice to see you Love watching your video homestead beautiful baby cow great good job BYE
oh thats classic
"What are they doing?"

......
"Kissing"
oh I love Krissy and her ducks. It was so sad about Munchkin.
_"Needle in the Hay"_. _Elliot Smith_ I got that. HaHa!! 😁😁
I miss Elliot Smith.
“He’s getting lai….ladies.” Smooth dodge dude.
I had to look-up and listen to the band “Heatmiser” and Elliott Smith. I sampled a dozen songs and recognized none. I graduated college in 93 so this is my generation music. I am shocked and pleased.
Love seeing all the animals…..very cool!
Like the bright green morel mushroom hat! ;)
Atta boy Ralph. Get 'em boy !
Elliott Smith was a nice pick, Needle in the Hay🎶
Congrats Ralph! We love our short king.
i know it's a tragic time for someone's balls but this video had me laughing the whole time, daaaam🤣
I love watching your videos
Lost it at the duck mating commentary. 😂
Well, in the duck world, size doesn't matter!!!😆🦆🦆
That's what I was thinking
Look forward to seeing Ralph’s ducklings…. They may be able to fly..
fun fact “needle in the hay” happens to be an Elliott Smith song. Very appropriate timing Morgan 02:48
9:40 nice explanation, Morgan! Lol. Gotta love the questions kids ask
A friend was working on a mini runner program and man, they are WICKED fun. Just saying. ;-)
Look into your local NRCS office! You might be able to get cost share assistance for a Heavy use area for those cows
You’re going to be ready for a manure spreader for your tractor to fling poo in your lovely pastures!
Why do the Geese paddling in the pond always remind me of sedate Edwardians paddling in the sea with their trousers legs rolled up?
I appreciate seeing your nephews - but I reslly appreciate you protecting their privacy
Great accents!!
You should get something or someone to hold them stationary for you and would be even less stressful
He’s doing well … zooms in on him peeing lol
love the music of Elliot Smith
Oh hey I also watch Dunkin Ducks!
Done it Jamaica my family own about 200 cattle... took about 2 mins to do.
Our short king Ralph 👑
I'm glad you discreetly said Ralph the call duck was "kissing" his girlfriend.
