Thanks, Rory.. this is beautiful (she really sounds like the female incarnation of Roy!) but she has some great originals, as well... such a gorgeous and clear voice... appreciate your reaction, as usual!
I love KD Lang! I love Elvis and Eva Cassidy, too. Amazing to me that you talked about my 3 favorite singers and your comments are spot on. I think you are a fantastic reactor with plenty of knowledge about music. All three of these exceptional performers make you "feel" the music and take it to another level. Thanks, Rory.❤❤❤
K.D LANG, SHE HAS INCREDIBLE VOCALS 🔥🔥🔥I WATCHED THIS WHEN IT AIR. I THINK IT TOOK HER AWHILE TO BE A HOUSEHOLD NAME. THAT WAS FREAKIN BEAUTIFUL!! INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE!! INCREDIBLE REACTION RORY 💙 THAT GOT ME EMOTIONAL 😢 THANK YOU TO WHOMEVER REQUESTED THIS GEM. 😊🩷🤘✌️
She had a huge controversy when she spoke against eating meat. Here in Alberta canada where shes from is known for its famous beef industry. Shes one of a kind. Youre right, very reminiscent of some of Elvis’s performances
I can't tell you of another artist who got a 4 minute standing ovation for a song. Such a pure powerhouse voice. I'd have loved to have heard her do John Farnhams songs, You're The Voice and his version of the Beatles song Help. His power makes those songs incredible so I think k.d. woulda nailed em too!
There's only one KD Lang What a voice. What a range and a passion in her delivery. A really nice reaction, btw. You might want to check out a singer, Dimash Kudaibergen, who has a 7 octave + 2 semi-tones range, and sings in a multitude of genres. He is considered by millions of people to be the greatest vocalist on the planet. I think he may just be. Check out his performance of "Love is Like a Dream" and "Stranger" for starters.
I worked in the oil patch In Alberta Canada in the 80"s & traveling past Consort Alberta there was a huge sign saying "Home of KD lang". loved it, she is amazing.
The great singers can sing anything and make it their own. The best word to describe this is interpretation. Elvis was a master at this and KD, Eva, Tom Jones and a few more I could mention were no slouches either. We all know the songs its how you bring something different to the vocal to keep it fresh and interesting. Great reaction Rory well done.
K.D. is amazing. She can sing anything with such emotion. Roy would have been so proud of her. Eva Cassidy was also a beautiful singer. Songbird was out of this world. So ethereal. Sadly she was gone way too soon. And she probably never reached her full potential.
Hey Rory! I love K.D.’s performance of this song on the MTV Unplugged better (she sings it with less of that country twang)… so I’ll be THRILLED to see that! SUGGESTION: I didn’t know you would do more-than-one performance of a certain song from the same artist?!? (Which is AWESOME.) SO… You REALLY SHOULD SEE K.D.’s performance of: “HALLELUJAH” At the 2010 OLYMPICS …It’s SO GORGEOUS! (There is ALSO a performance of K.D. doing “Hallelujah” FOR/IN FRONT OF Leonard Cohen while he sat in the front row - I don’t “think” you saw that one? …When she’s done singing, K.D. jumps right off the front of the stage to give Leonard a HUG.🥰) Anyway… I read that Leonard Cohen had been invited to perform the song at the 2010 Olympics with K.D… and he turned it down! (As a COMPLIMENT to K.D.) …Because, Leonard said, “The song is HERS now!😇
About that "household name" thing, I suspect the writer was using only their own household as the measure! Probably an older American Roy Orbison fan...
Don't be put off by this guys terrible English! Speak English man! But then kd Lang comes on and just nails it. What a voice! The tears rolling down my face! And ya' man. I could get used to your dialect...in a very long time.
What a voice and not one ounce of ego - its so heart warming compared to most singers nowadays - differen class - money can't buy class - you either got it or you aint - simple as
One of the most beautiful and powerful voices you'll ever here... K.D. Lang
She was the only one to hold this song like that and pay tribute to Roy Orbison..,
Just love how she looks up to the sky and said "thank you Roy."
One of my all-time favorite female voices. Such fun in concert. Ridiculously talented. 😊 🔥
Isn't she bloody amazing? ❤🇨🇦
That’s it. ❤️🇨🇦
k.d. Lang’s vocals are spectacular! So much control and her tone is mesmerizing! I’d swear that she and Wayne Newton are DNA cousins.
So, so beautiful. There are no words to describe. Love her.
WOW!!!🤩 ❤
I think 'ethereal' might be the word you're fumbling for. Out of this world; beyond beautiful; indescribable - all of those, and more.
Stunning!!!
That last note is insane. She held it from “over you” all the way to the end. Crazy incredible. Wow!
The standing ovation was longer than the performance & hear how long she hold the last words
Thanks, Rory.. this is beautiful (she really sounds like the female incarnation of Roy!) but she has some great originals, as well... such a gorgeous and clear voice... appreciate your reaction, as usual!
The MTV Unplugged version is even better. She is amazing. She brings so much emotion to anything she sings.

My favorite version of her singing this song is live on MTV Unplugged--amazing voice control.

Your reaction brought a lump to my throat. She’s beyond amazing🇨🇦🇨🇦❤️❤️

Flawless 😭😭 What a voice! ❤❤

roy orbison was definitely smiling down on her.a wonderful job
KD was known in Canada but this was her introduction I think in the USA.
Her vibrato is heavenly but when she hits those big notes I get chills no matter how many times I hear it. She's amazing. Good reaction.

The fact that KD is so humble and unassuming endears her to you even more.

She always at the end of that song she thanks Roy Orbison for that song she is brilliant ❤❤
PLEASE check out her performance of Hallelujah at the 2010 Winter Olympics... it's incredible!
She always was in Canada...i think that meant globally❤🇨🇦
K.D. is amazing. She can sing anything with such emotion. Roy would have been so proud of her. Eva Cassidy was also a beautiful singer. Songbird was out of this world. So ethereal. Sadly she was gone way too soon. And she probably never reached her full potential.
I thought Constant Craving came out before Roy’s passing!! It was played so much here in the USA, you couldn’t get away from it.
Hallelujah.
There is a video of her singing with Roy Orbison out there.
She very much holds back in that... it's lovely but doesn't show her vocal abilities to the same extent.
When they say 'household name' they mean in the U.S. She did have a big international hit with Constant Craving
Check out Hallelujah. It's awesome as well.
Fluidity and or color ? Like warm liquid and different shades and emotions . That’s how I think about great vocalists
k.d. Was already well known in Canada, but not as well known in the U.S.
she is truly Amazing...but you really should hear the rendition by Rebekah Delrio in the movie Mulholland Drive...

K. D. is a very interesting person, check out her interview with George Strombo
