Sir, you were just SCHOOLED for your sass! kd lang is one of the best voices to ever have graced this earth. That is why Roy Orbison had her duet the song with him in the '80. Please, dive deeper into the kd lang rabbit hole. You will be amazed.
k.d. lang is a Canadian treasure... she is widely known as a singers singer and has won 4 grammys. Tony Bennett which she did several duets with called her the best singer in the world. Her album Ingenue is one of the best ever according to Rolling Stone and several other publications. She started out as a honky tonk country singer who worshipped Patsy Cline but with her extremely powerful voice soon mainstream took notice. After her first appearance on the Tonight Show she quickly became one of Johnny Carson's favorites and he had her perform regularly. If you want to hear her range and control..her performance of Hallelujah at the opening ceremonies in Vancouver 2010 Olympics is iconic. I have seen her live many times and she is better live than on record. My favorite song of hers is Barefoot which is hauntingly beautiful. She had a #1 hit with Constant Craving. She is an amazing song writer and unmatched vocalist. Glad you got introduced to her.
Constant Craving was on her Ingenue album. My parents came to visit me while k.d. was in town for that tour. I had to run down to the Opera House to get 2 more tickets. Third row, center! My dad left in love, my mom walked out enthralled. They both told me they never thought I had the best taste in music (back to my Janis Joplin days). It was a night we talked about often before they died.
I saw K.D. At Walden’s lounge in Edmonton when she was in the very beginning of her career! She was wearing a dress and cowboy boots! Hair in pigtails. I love how controversial she is. She is from Southern Alberta, Canada. She’s a vegetarian that used to piss off the ranching community in Southern Alberta, when she would denounce meat. 😂😂😂 Her voice goes straight to my soul. Love K.D.❤❤👏👏👏💫💫🥮🥰🇨🇦🇨🇦
I'm a Canadian woman the same age as k.d. and my appreciation of her in every aspect has only grown over the years. She is exceptionally talented, brave, and intelligently outspoken on matters of importance.
That's real talent right there, no embellishments, no ear pieces, not fake anything. Just music and her voice, exactly what is missing with many of today's "talents".
@@KindCountsDeb3773 she came out as a lesbian in 1980s. That's why she's not a superstar, and everyone knowing her name. It was different in those days. She was friends Ellen Degeneres and Melissa Etheridge. Her voice is unmatched.

Made her a star. Already a star. Of all the singers in the world, he asked Kd to record Crying as a duet with him. Love how she looks to the sky and said thank you Roy.
K.D. showing her chops here for the one and only Roy Orbison - she sang in concert with Roy backing him up on this and this time she let's it fly ....... strong vocal indeed.
I remember being a teenager when k.d. & Roy’s duet came out and I have been hooked on k.d. ever since. I remember the concert where k.d. sang backup for a Roy Oribison special (with so many other well known music artists) as a highlight of their collaboration. Thank you for taking me back to when the world first discovered k.d.lang and her superb voice
I remember when she was just starting out . Used to go see her perform at a local watering hole when I was in college in Alberta, Canada. She had a brush cut and a square dancing skirt , did wild rocking rockabilly with an edge and ballads that did Patsey Kline proud.
Oh she sings so much!!!! KD is Canada's gem. I've been listening to her since day one when it was "KD Lang and the Reclines". she had that voice!!!!! and it's not at all surprising she went on to a successful solo career. Listen to her doing Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah". You won't be disappointed.
I am so happy that Kd Lang is being [rediscovered]? by as many people as possible. I am writing this from Calgary Alberta Canada. at 12:30 am after a Beethoven concert. I first saw KD in Vancouver in a tiny, and I mean tiny bar in Vancouver called the Railway car in 1978. We all knew she was destined for stardom. I have been listening for 48 years now. The reason she is great [and this is from an interview with her] is very simple. She LOOOOVES to sing and you can't fake that. Chills every time. She is from a small Alberta town and has not forgotten her roots.that's part of who she is but she really belongs to the world, generation after generation. You must listen to her live performance of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah at the Canadian Juno awards in 2005 [still on line.] honouring his lifetime achievements. . He was in the front row and she sang directly to him and once again brought the house down. So this is the long of it to let you who she is and where she comes from. Great to see your reaction if a little sceptical at first. Thank you for that version of crying. Take good care now PS used to live in NYC
Had the opportunity to see her live in Providence, RI several years ago. After a remarkable show featuring a selection of her own tunes, “ Cryin’ “ came along. What occurred next was, in my opinion, the performance of a lifetime. Not only were the background singers and band first rate, KD Lang’s voice was sublime. During the song her tone started like a smooth fine wine and as the song progressed her voice grew until as the song approached its’ climax, looking around the audience there honestly was not a dry eye in the house along with many couples in warm embrace and weeping. Truly an incredible experience and surely one not to be missed. One of the most remarkable singers of our time.
Four minute standing ovation. The audience was full of talented musians, bands, singers etc who knew the song and appreciated. Listen to "constant craving" and Hallelujah.
to me, the worst of his self-congratulatory hype (I was there! It made me big!) was saying this made KD a star. She was ALREADY an enduring star or she wouldn't have been performing there.

No argument here.

One of the best vocalists of the last 25 years. Control, power, tone, delivery. She is the envy of every singer.
You said it true!
Her voice is beyond description, she gives me goosebumps from start to finish, simply amazing!
k.D.Lang just got inducted into 2024 Canadian Country music Hall of Fame.
Love how she looked up and said "thank you, Roy." Never saw a combination of raw power and total control like that before. Brilliant!

There's a video of her & Roy doing a duet, which is brilliant.
