    This movie is one of my favorites, because of little Drew =)
    Firestarter, Irreconcilable Differences... And also some other movies with her, like "50 First Dates" and "The Wedding Singer"... Drew Barrymore is an amazing actress!!

    I have a hunch that this movie is a parable on the "New Hollywood" of the 1970's. He starts out as an east coast academic, gets into making movie just by accident, directs a low-budget and very personal small-scale drama that makes him a top director. Then he becomes an out-of-control egomaniac, directs a mega-budget that flops, and loses everything. It could be based on Francis Ford Coppola, Mike Cimino, Bob Rafelson, or any of the other 1970's directors who flopped in the 1980's.

    • @joel8583
      @joel8583 6 років тому

      It's based on Peter Bogdanovich and Polly Platt.

    • @natalieps2387
      @natalieps2387 5 років тому +1

      @@joel8583 yes it's based on peter bogdonavich & polly Platt & the sharon stone character is cybill shepherd. He left his wife for cybill & just like in this movie when he starts making big vehicles for shepherd. They bombed & I think she left bogdonavich bc of it . Then he met 18 year old dorothy stratten & the rest is history.

    The movie had a stupid premise but was sadly realistic in that both parents were selfish and self-centered and made their daughter parent them.

    • @BarkleyConners
      @BarkleyConners Рік тому +3

      The premise isn't really stupid when you consider the fact that many child stars have brought their parents to court to become emancipated minors.
