CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Addie (Tatum O'Neal) puts Moses (Ryan O'Neal) in a tough situation when she demands the $200 he owes her.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
The year is 1936. Orphaned Addie Loggins (Tatum O'Neal, in her film debut) is left in the care of unethical travelling Bible salesman Moses Pray (Ryan O'Neal, Tatum's dad), who may or may not be her father. En route to Addie's relatives, Moses learns that the 9-year-old is quite a handful: she smokes, cusses, and is almost as devious and manipulative as he is. They join forces as swindlers, working together so well that Addie is averse to breaking up the team -- which is one reason that she sabotages the romance between Moses and good-time gal Trixie Delight (Madeline Kahn). Later, while attempting to square a $200 debt that Addie claims he owes her, Moses runs afoul of of a bootlegger (John Hillerman) and is nearly beaten to death by the criminal's twin-brother sheriff. Painfully pulling himself together, Moses gets Addie to her relatives, whereupon she adamantly refuses to leave his side. Photographed in black-and-white by Laszlo Kovacs, the film was made largely on location in Kansas and Missouri (an experience colorfully recalled by director Peter Bogdanovich in his 1972 book of essays Pieces of Time). 9-year-old Tatum O'Neal won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar, beating out costar Kahn. Paper Moon later became a short-lived TV series, starring Ryan O'Neal lookalike Christopher Connelly and future Oscar winner Jodie Foster.

R.I.P. Peter Bogdanavich. I'm grateful he made this timeless masterpiece.
And RIP Ryan O'Neal
@@LPJack02amen 🙏
Tatum O'Neal was amazing, but Ryan O'Neal was also very good.He never got the credit he deserved because he was so good-looking.
Totally agree, he wasn't given enough credit for he's acting
I fell in love with Tatum O’Neal after this scene. I have played it again and again and again. Can’t stop laughing how wonderfully she acted. Love it love it love it forever
It is amusing the real life father and daughter arguing about how they aren't father and daughter in the film.
The whole family went to see this movie in 1973, and through the years, my Mom loved to say "Then GIT it." (RIP 2018)
Josh Max I'm sorry for your loss of your mother. 😢💔 I know it was 2 or 3 years ago, but the pain never really goes away. We learn to cope, eventually. I _know._ I lost _my_ mom in 1988 when I was 16. (She was 53.) She had a stroke while I was still at school that day, & she was in a coma for 6 days afterwards that she never came out of. I never got to say goodbye to her (while she was still conscious) and that's always haunted me. Anyways, the last movie we ever watched together was "The Sound of Music", so I can relate to the association between a lost loved one and a movie/line from the movie. ✔ Once again, I am sorry about your mom. I hope you're doing better. 🙂💪🏻🕊️
I love how she never lets him get away with anything in this movie lol
YES!! SHE IS THE BEST OF THE BEST, WINNING AN OSCAR, AND THE OTHER NOMINEES WERE SO MUCH OLDER THAN TATUM! I SAW THE EXORCIST AND I COULDN'T SLEEP FOR MONTHS, BUT THIS BEAUTIFUL CHILD WAS THE ULTIMATE ACTRESS, SO FAR SHE IS STILL THE YOUNGEST ACTRESS AND THE REIGNING QUEEN!!!! LOVE YOU TATUM O'NEIL.💙
One of my all time favourite movies.
@@alexanicolejoel2168 Is not the youngest actress Baylee Madison is the youngest actress in the world because she only started acting when she was only 1 day old
@@mckenna.grace_fanpage3286 Youngest actor to win an Oscar, I believe the poster meant to say...
@@ianwartist the youngest actress**
"then git it" a lot of Oscars given to children appear to be given to childre, because they're cute, but Tatum was brilliant, as was Anna Paquin.
Then get it! My favorite scene in this movie. Tatum deserved the Academy Award she got!
ABSOLUTELY. 💯
no, she didnt. she deserved the one for best actress, for having carried this movie from start to end.
@@HiggsBosonBlues2020 You're absolutely correct!!!
"Anything is possible, but possible don't make it TRUE."
XD love that line delivery
one of my favorite scenes from this movie, RIP Ryan.
R.I.P. Ryan O'Neal. This scene always makes me laugh with him saying "eat your Coney Island and drink your Ne-Hi!"
This movie has so much heart. One of my all time favourite.
same. it's SO well made and well written/acted
Such an enchanting film, R.I.P Ryan
I can't stop laughing on this scene. Brilliant acting by Tatum and Ryan.
That $200 would be worth over $3,000 today!
I haven't seen this film yet but this scene alone is cracking me up. This little girl is not easy, seems like she gives as good as she gets. What a great little actor and I know she got an Oscar for this, so I have to see the rest of this film.
That is her real father.
Big call out to the late great Polly Platt, the art director on this film, who MADE this remarkable look. Polly Platt died tragically of Lou Gehrig's Disease, a terrible disease. But she was a genius, and Peter Bogdanovich NEVER made a film this good, after he stopped collaborating with her.
Wow! Never saw Paper Moon but now I can see WHY she won the Oscar for this!!!
Tatum was so freakin adorable in this movie… one of my all time favorite movies🥰
Oh, yeah! Such a great scene and great acting. Awesome. The director made the film of his carreer. I love this movie.
ME TOO!!
This and Last Picture Show are masterpieces
this movie was filmed in the town I live in (st Joseph Missouri) this town is FULL of history! including this movie
"I'm not riding in that car with that cow!" LOL!
Fabulous movie. I loved ever second of it. "Then get it!"
'Her name aint precious.'
It sucks to know that they didn’t have a good relationship in real life. They are so well in acting together.
"I want my 200 dollars!" RIP Ryan O'NEIL. I loved/love this movie! ❤😢
This is such a great movie. Tatum is so cute and talented. I love how the straw in her Nehi just keeps changing in every shot..
+bacuss2112 Good eye.
A good prop person would have glued that straw in place...but then, who could anticipate it moving around like that. (.....only 5 years later.)
OMG, this is the inspiration for the paperboy in Better Off Dead! "I want my $2!"
Rest In Peace Mr Ryan O'Neal
RIP Peter Bogdanovich.
Paper Moon is a brilliant film.
And RIP Ryan O'Neal
this was an awesome movie, and little tatum oneil deserved that oscar she won!
“Then I want my MONEY!” 🤣🤣
Watched this the other day. Love this movie.
this movie has become one of favorites after only watching it once. Ryan'real life daughter Tatum O'neal is excellent as his non on screen daughter who did won an academy award for it. She is such a slickster as he is and maybe even better cause she won his heart even after he didn't want to be wirh her. Didn't She? I will definately watch it over and over again. My favorite Addie line - "I want my two hundreds dollars" it cracks me up everytime.
RIP Ryan O'Neal (April 20, 1941 - December 8, 2023), aged 82
You will be remembered as a legend.
I love this movie. In 1973, I saw at the movie theatre. I want my 200.00. Tatum was awesome!!
My favorite movie of all time
rest in peace Mr. O'Neal
CLASSIC... 👍WELL DESERVED OSCAR 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
"It ain't possible!" "Then I want my two-hundred dollars!" LOL!
Who got you a Nehi and a coney island...😄
I think its great that Tatum works with his own daughter acting like he isnt her father but at the end he is always her dad
Wha? Tatum is the daughter.
Kimber Saunders _Tatum_ is the daughter. Ryan is her dad. 🙂
Rest in peace Ryan O'neal
this movie captures the feel of 1930s. mr bogdonavich created a gem. thank you sir always loved tatum in this. she sold it
SHE IS THE ENTIRE MOVIE, WITHOUT HER, NO MOVIE!!
the production designer was polly platt, bogdanovich took all the credit
My fav movie except for the ending. I wish he would have been a little happier. I'm not saying he had to run to her and embrace, but at least make her feel more wanted. I know that in a deeper sense she was. I just wish it had ended a little "shallower" then.
Maybe cuz I have 2 little girls.
@@tboda2621 that’s a sweet sentiment, I’m sure having children gives a whole other kinda perspective on a film with a story like this. I do think they could have played his character to have softened up a little bit more, gradually, to play it like that. But his character is also played so consistently that I think his reluctance to embrace his child and his letting her come with him at the end, with subtle signs of gladness, was just a perfect character arc for the way they wrote him
@@nuffzed2001 no he didn’t, he gave her credit as the production designer and he is still the director of the film
R.I.P. Ryan O'Neal 🙏🙏😔.
R.I.P. Mr. O’Neal.
One of my favorite movies everybody in here was terrific the little girl that play tricks he's made was especially good she should have got more recognition
I LOVE this clip. Always have...
"Then git it". 😄
A great film. The ending is wonderful.
"I want my $200.00!"..
"Shut up and drink your Ne-Hi and eat your Coney Island"...lol.
1:45: Now eat your Nehi and drink your Coney Island!
I love this scene
So timeless...
R.I.P. Ryan O’Neal (1941-2023)
"You ain't my pa!" LOL
She looks identical to him 😂
I am so sad Tatum is still going through such a rough time with drug addiction. She had such power as an actress. If you would put her in front of a camera today, I know that with her beauty & talent, she would still knock it out of the park! Like father like daughter......Ryan was such an underrated actor.
You met my maw in a BAR ROOM!
Actually how many a couple has met in the last century and beyond
2:06 priceless conclusion to clip as Moses Pray played by Ryan O'Neil says for the final time, "But I don't have it" [$200 'owed' to orphaned Addie Loggins played by Tatum O'Neal] and her stubborn reply; "Then get it"...
In retrospect, I no longer think I should root for them to stay together in the end.
Saw this for the first time this week. Turned over an it was at the burial part, And I thought this was going to be a good film and I wasn’t disappointed or wrong.
RIP Ryan O'Neal
I loved this film when I was a kid
great movie oldie but goodie farther and his little girl shes a good little actress hes very good allso they should of did more movies together paper moon a real clasic
They cut away at a funny part!
Waitress: How we doin', Angel Pie? We gonna have a little dessert when we finish up our hot dog?
Addie: I don't know.
Waitress: What do you say, Daddy? Why don't we give Precious a little dessert if she eats her dog?
Moze: Her name ain't Precious.
Lol
It is just fantastic how all his flim flam doesn't fool her for a minute. I love how he keeps looking around worried that the other people in the restaurant might hear her.
Give me 1,000 Coney Islands
I love this movie
Olive Putnam brought me here when he was talking to Mabel while they were picking locks 🔒
This movie was shot in my hometown of Saint Joseph, MO.
COOL!!!!
This scene was filmed in McCracken KS, in Rush County... my home!
They were so magical together.
I loved this movie as a kid ,I ain't seen this in 3o years ,👌👍🙂
brilliant movie.
This movie makes me happy.
then i want my MONEY
Will you quiet down!!
@@joel8583 you know what the problem is with you? You got no appreciation
I love this film! Merriam-Webster defines “Scene Stealer”, see Tatum O’Neal, haha!! She was so wise beyond her years. My favorite part is when they’re arguing in the car about finding a train depot. Absolutely hilarious! One thing that really amazed me regarding Tatum’s performance, if you watch closely, she’s really inhaling her cigarettes, that’s straight up dedication right there!
TATUM O'NEIL, DID PAPER MOON AT 8 YEARS OLD, SHE WON THE OSCAR AT 10 YEARS OLD. BUT TO ME SHE WON THE OSCAR AT 8 YEARS OLD, STILL IS THE REIGNING QUEEN FOR BEING THE YOUNGEST CHILD ACTRESS EVER TO WIN AN OSCAR, EXCEPT ANNA PAQUIN SHE WON AN OSCAR AT 11 YEARS OLD, YOU GO TATUM, I LOVE YOU, BUT LOOK AT WHAT YOUR ROTTEN FATHER DID? HE DIDN'T EVEN GO WITH YOU TO THE OSCARS, THAT SHOULD TELL YOU SOMETHING ABOUT RYAN O'NEIL, SHE THANKED PETER BOGDANOVICH AND HER FATHER THE LOSER,SHE WAS ONLY ACCOMPANIED BY HER GRANDFATHER, BECAUSE IN THE WORLD OF RYAN O'NEIL LOOK AT HOW PATHETIC HE WAS, AND LOOK AT ADORABLE TATUM O'NEILWAS IN PAPER MOON, SHE TALKED LIKE A BABY, BECAUSE SHE WAS A BABY WITH AN OSCAR. CONGRATULATIONS TATUM, THAT TIME WAS THE ONLY TIME THAT YOU BEAT YOUR LOSER FATHER. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💯
why are you shouting?
nie można się na Nią napatrzeć - jest genialna. Oboje są genialni :)
RIP Ryan
I was very young when I saw this but I can see why Addie was pissed. She just lost her mom is an accident, losing practically everything, and some stranger was profiting off it and wasn't planning to give her any.
Great movie Tatum was awesome!
The director of this movie also directed Mask and he was Dr Melfi shrink in Sopranos
His acting gives me Saul Goodman vibes
Ahhhhhh. Pure beauty. Truly a profound moment. I thought I was in love with Kahns performance.... where does it end? This movie is astounding
Aw, it should have gone on to the end of the scene. They left out the best part. "Her name--ain't--precious."
That whole bit of dialogue was hysterical esp how Addie says, “I don’t know”
If I want cheering up this is what I watch. Hilarious but cool.
"Then, git it." The Authority, lol! All I could say would be "Yes, Mamn!"
Love this movie.
My favorite line is that about a lady who looks like a bullfrog but she ain’t the damn thing’s mother. I thought that line during many a Maury Povich episode.
Wot a brilliant actress
Ryan is the GOAT
Masterpiece.
Ron Burgundy is AMAZING in this.
My absolute fav childhood movie :-D
Then..Git it.
BANG!!!
great movie,,,
R.I.P. Ryan ONeal.
I recently did a podcast on this. Dr. Zeus Film Podcast. Btw Tatum deserved that oscar, she’s so brilliant.
It's my all time favorite film ❤
Moses Pray:
I got scruples too, you know. You know what that is? Scruples?
Addie Loggins:
No, I don't know what it is, but if you got 'em, it's a sure bet they belong to somebody else!
0:00 Then if you ain't my pa I won't ma two hunnit dollas.
We have the same Jaw! LOL!
Yeah, we all saw that at the beginning of this video.
NOW EAT YOUR NEHI & DRINK YOUR CONEY ISLAND!
