It would be just one more branding sticker to cover up if I purchased it. I don't try to advertise stuff for numerous reasons. Nice new bike/bags. But, I like bright colors, so I'll keep what I have. I love my metro bag and brompton backpack bag. I put both on the front, so I can keep an eye on them :)
Isn’t it about time Brompton updated the conical roller wheels as standard, I recently got a C line and the roller wheels are pretty much useless, they work as a stand but don’t allow the owner to roll the bike around in a supermarket for example as they’re too small, as soon as the bikes tilted the suspension block catches the ground, being the iconic brand that brompton is I’d have thought you would want your customers to be able roll the folded bike around as part of its appeal
That's a very, umm, 70s colour palette going on there. Not really tickling my fancy at all, but no doubt coming soon to an eBay listing near you at twice RRP. Sidenote - I'd be genuinely interested in how the Barbour Brompton jacket is. No intention of every buying one, just a heavy cotton waxed jacket would be the very last thing I'd ride a bicycle in
I’m more interested in the bags. I have a Barbour Terras bag which is beautiful but the new hold-all looks like it’s really big and could be a great weekend bag, especially for someone who doesn’t like their Brompton bag to look like a cycle bag. But the price…ouch!
The 2017 Barbour Terras Bag is lovely which I own that came with the Brompton Barbour V1. I think the GBP170 Barbour X Brompton Wax City Bag is the smaller and nicer of the two. Barbour x Brompton Wax Holdall is GBP200.
Nice ! I’ll definitely be getting set of those tires when they become available. I think they’ll help a little with my off road excursions!😄 The seatbag is kinda nice also do you think that will be available separately?
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment We expect the Metro pouch to arrive with us tomorrow - end Sept 2022 We're waiting to see about the tyres - we agree they look like they will be great on canal paths etc (obviously we would never take them real off road ;-) )
I have never seen a Brompton Special Edition worth his Money... all just Normal Bikes with Different Colors but more Expensive. I rather buy a Normal one and tune it, to make it worth the Higher Price.
Last week there were two listed on eBay for £3,800 and £4,700. They look like they've reduced because today there are six listed between £3,500 and £4,250 - most at £3,850. That is a price hike over the standard C Line Explore of £2,500 (see edit). If we said the special clamps, bell cover, seat, seatpost, tyres, pump and bags were an additional £500 (being generous) then that's £2,000 for beige paint and some decals! It blows my mind that people would pay that, but I guess the Asian market will lap it up. EDIT: I have to take that back. Looks like this is more a criticism of those greedy people on eBay trying to sell before official release. It's £1,895 from Brompton and that includes the bags, so NOT any more expensive than a usual special edition.
They're probably hoping to sell one to a country where the model hasn't been released (probably Singapore or Malaysia) where special editions are prized.
Another BRILLIANT video (of course!🙌) and interesting to see the collaborative bling - love the colour and sure they’ll get snapped up… that saddle is definitely brown! 🤔😉
The exchange rate of Hong Kong dollar to gbp has raised by nearly 20% in few months! I bought a explorer in black lacquer which cost more than $2300usd. This version cost us less after exchange rate effects! There’s no extra money! All additional features come at zero cost to us. Of course standard version cost even less now
I find you have to tighten that pentaclip a huge amount to stop it slipping. The only thing I don’t like on my Brompton. You shouldn’t have to tighten it that much
A friend of mine wears a Bowler hat whilst riding his Brompton. It looks quite stylish ( he has the wherewithal to carry it off, I'd just look a bit of a plonker ) and is quite an effective safety helmet. I've getting the "Pith Helmet" vibe from the new colour scheme, I think it would go well. I think the brilliant Ms Brilliant Bikes should get hold of one and model it for us. 🤔😉
A bit off thread but on the subject of bags When I was a teenager(60s) I had a Brooks saddle bag. It was black It had a rod through the top that I slid through 4 points on the underside of the saddle to hold it. It also had a strap to fit to the post, but I never used it. I put my school stuff in it & when at school I just slid the rod out & released the bag in 2 seconds. I put the rod back in the bag & had a handle. The bag had 2 small pouches each end. It was brilliant & rugged, which it needed to be for a teenager. I really would like to buy another, but have never seen one. This one was about 15 inches wide ( from memory)Do you know of any please as all the ones I see are silly things that are narrow & extend out backwards. They have nowhere near the capacity of my old Brookes saddlebag? The seat bag that you show is- in my mind-- pointless- as being male, I can stick stuff in my pocket. Perhaps different for a lady , of course -- sorry about that!!!!! Great vid as usual though
Now you too can ride around looking like a countryside British aristocrat! The bike and the Metro pouch do look very nice indeed. The front bag and clothing however: terribly boring. In that dull posh style that Barbour does so well.
It doesn’t seem to be anything remarkable just a couple of different things but nothing you would write home about , what ever floats your boat would be nice to see a belt drive system on a Brompton but would probably years away, song = (Painting = Ocean Colour Scene).
So a heavy as lead C line with fashion touches that takes it to the price of the T line. No thanks, I'll put a job bonus towards desperately lightening my 2 speed instead.
😁 As an elderly man of 74, I had - absolutely no idea of what the "Barbour" Brand was, before looking it up! So don't expect to sell a Brompton bike to me!! I find it a lack of real ideas to make bikes like that, with only the color scheme as a sales point!
Retro styled bikes are horrible to ride, that seat will make you swear like a sailor in no time...and that colour is ghastly in my view, a new shade of green would have been so much nicer for this collaboration... BROMPTON should do more collaborations with other brands, unfortunately this collaboration does not tickle my fancy...

Lol! Always to good to bin!

I think that's gorgeous. And it's my birthday in 2 weeks - oh dear! My poor family! 😄
It would have been nice if the grips matched the saddle. Perhaps you can do a video to customize the grips? The bike is beautiful.
Very true! And a great idea! Thanks
I like their new trend of making all bikes black edition.
Luckily I have one....nice and smooth and also looks so chic
We think they are awesome!
What a lovely colour
We think so too!
interesting tyres. they should have put something like that on the 'Explore' models
What a beau, classic.

Well the Barbour branding and the bags are all very well, but where do I put my 12-bore?
Thank you for the super early review

Nice colour and tyres. Seat colour is nice. Would be fantastic if it is a superlight? The bell is still crappy. The small saddle pouch is lovely.

I wonder too.
great idea
Good luck with the Cambrian saddle. I found the C17 to be the most uncomfortable saddle I’ve ever owned.
So far I’ve loved the C17 and had it on a mountain bike. I guess saddles are such a personal preference!
Why they did not match the grips with the saddle and tires? 🙂
That’s a very good question! I can think of some that would match as well!
With the strength of the dollar, now is the time for all Americans who ever wanted a Brompton to jump on it!
Yes! Must be a lovely thought!
How about a comparison between this and the previous 2017 edition.
We’d love too but don’t have the previous version! If someone does have one we can borrow to compare that would be amazing!
Aha! Filmed at the new shop, I think. (err.. another embargo?)
😂 yes, filmed at the new shop! That we need to reveal! 😀

Can we purchase that bell for our standard Bromptons?
The stock bell sucks! 😝
Fingers crossed for new bells….

Thanks for watching and for the question.
No it is a 6 speed, 3 hub gears and 2 derailleur gears

Ah shame! Maybe the next one might? Who knows! Thanks for watching!
