Who daily drives their AMG? Actually who daily drives any Mercedes? List model and miles. Even though my daily is a Chevy Volt I've driven this car about 1000 miles in three weeks because it's just too damn fun.
Yep... W204 C63... and winter drive it as well (thanks to your vids, I've tackled lots of jobs I wouldn't normally try). I love your vids Alex. I don't what is, but you have about the most "soothing" and calm voice and demeanor of any auto vlogger on UA-cam. I love just having your videos playing in the background while working in my garage. It keeps me calm and reminds me I have to get onto my car maintenance!
Another great video Alex. My 2007 CLK 550 is just about to hit 101k, I love it more everyday. Comfortable enough around town, even on craggy LA roads. Wonderful on the highway, and lively enough for a regular canyon run. It would cost more than a car to get another parking space here... But why would I need another car?
I didn't have a car or license for 5 years and haven't owned a decent car in 20 years. Last year, I started looking at C-class; under $15k, just looking on Carguru at the listings over and over...and then I saw a C55 locally. Mint condition, 97k miles and as I read the description and did some research I said to myself, "This car is special". I never even heard of it before. Got my license back in June 2017, bought my ride the next day. I have driven 35k miles in the last 13 months and OMG Becky, I love my car. 90% of that mileage has been on the highway, mostly at night and I can't tell you how pleasureable it is to really drive a car, at 95, 105 110 mph for extended periods of time. Most people don't DRIVE their cars, they just ride around in them; I GET TO DRIVE!!...i really appreciate this series of videos
After watching your videos, I sold my E60 550i and went out and bought a nice low mileage 2007 CLS500. what a great car, Thanks for the great videos. No more Idrive issues ever again. lol
I absolutely love this channel. This guy is very clear and articulate. I am a BMW and Audi owner, however after finding this channel i'm very interested in owning a Mercedes Benz. This channel will grow, keep up the good work.
I bought my first Mercedes about 10 years ago. It was a little C Class and I fell in love. Since then I have owned 4 E Classes and in my opinion, Mercedes makes very reliable cars. If you can do maintenance yourself, it's cheaper to maintain than a Honda Civic.
Richard how do you figure that? I can see it being cheaper if you compare DIY on thtools Mercedes and take the Civic to a dealer for service but otherwise it’s definitely not cheaper. Mine takes like 8.5 qts of oil, a filter that’s 2x a Honda filter, 2x batteries that aren’t cheap. 2 spark plugs per cylinder and they are over 7 bucks a pop. That said, it’s not really a big deal, I’d much rather pay the extra and drive a Mercedes than save a little and drive s civic. I also realize a lot of people will be cheap and buy the cheapest plugs and oil and aftermarket parts to save some money but I’m not convinced yet that that is a great idea. I tried getting a cheap fuel pump and a lot of the parts didn’t fit right so I ended up having to do a lot of modifications on it and now I honestly don’t have a ton of confidence in it. I think in the future I’m going to try to stick with manufacturer recommended parts when I can, if there’s a significant difference in price then maybe I’ll risk it depending on what it is.
I drove a c240 97 model. I put 100k in that car. Owned it twice too. Thanks to you and a previous vid where you flipped three mercs, I got involved in mechanics during lock down. My engine was the m112, the baby 6v - I had to buy two Haynes manuals as this was the first model, 2.8 litre model that had this engine. I bought all the hits in the U.K. - I had that car working so sweet. Did regular oil changes, changed all o2 sensors. All spark plugs. The oil cooler gaskets that had plasticised. Torqued all engine bolts as over time they had worked loose, even replaced the intake fan clutch. Sorted an ignition coil. Patched up some exhaust holes. Tightened up the exhaust struts and supports. Even changed the serpentine belt. I remember doing all this work on it and I drove for three miles to test it, went round a round about, heard all this screeching. I looked about - it was just me on the road. It was like driving a comfortable couch. One that could easily hit 110mph. I miss that car. It was so easy to work on.
I love to watch your educational videos on Mercedes Benz, I have owned W210 E200 and E430 and now ML320. From now on I will be doing the DIY, because I now have knowledge from your videos. You are very clear and great in your presentation easy to follow you step by step. Thank you my brother.
Thank you very much for the video! I daily drive a w210 E55 AMG and love it everyday. I need to do all of these repairs and I obviously have the 5.4l m113 V8. I found the valve covers, it would be super helpful for the names of the rest of these parts ideally part numbers. Thanks Alex!
I just did the Oil cooler and Oil filter housing on my R500. I followed exactly what you said to do. THANK YOU for the directions and all the torque specifications. You Dah Man! 👍🏼
Thanks for listings torque specs and exact tools needed. You sir are a boss. I often do a lot of side work and I can’t take my whole tool box with me so I will often watch videos for repairs that I can’t quite remember so I know exactly what to take with me. Thanks again.
Very helpful video! When we took the 400k mile E55 in to have the valve cover gaskets replaced, the mechanic was completely shocked by how clean the inside of the engine was. He was so shocked that he had to double check and make sure it was the original engine lol.
Alex - Thanks to the video, I just finished all of these fixes on my a209. I also did a water pump and thermostat. This puts me one step closer to daily driving my AMG.
Nice job bro. Love the videos. The wife says I should do videos when I work on my Mercedes. No patience on my end. And you even post your mistakes so we out here don't do the same thing. You the man!!
Alec , you make awesome informative videos . I watch The adds completely hoping you get more $$$ . Thank you For the editing and pace of your videos. Easy and Enjoyable to watch.
1998 E320 W210, with 137K miles, daily driven. I bought it from the original owner seven years ago and love it. Keep up the good work, Alex, love your videos.
Thanks to this video and specifically only because of this video I decided to change the rubber gaskets on the oil filter housing on my CLS55 because they were leaking. Thanks to Alex it went magnificently. And then.....I discovered my oil lines leading to it were leaking....bad. LOL seems I can't win for losing. Anyway...Thank you so much Alex!!!!! I recommend you to anyone who will listen, and many who don't!
I really appreciate the detail you went into changing the valve covers and oil filter housing! Please also show such detail on other stuff like the EGR and the MAF bc those are projects I personally have given up on in them in the past out of fear for breaking them.
Great video as always, thanks for the information and understanding. Never realized how simple and possible these Mercedes were to work on yourself. Great channel.
So glad the oil filter housing, etc. is same design as on the m112 in my w220 s320. My mum "broke down" tonight and I believe it's the massive amount of oil on the drive belt that is causing it to slip and not power the alternator. I believe the leak is one of these common ones.
Your channel is my first look at Mercedes... even with years of experience working on 2000s Volvos, they look complicated... they def do things differently.
I have a massive oil leak and it looks like it is coming from the oil filer housing/oil cooler seals! Got the parts on order now to try to fix it. Thanks a bunch!
1999 E55 AMG in astral silver. All original and I've put 13k miles on her in the last 7 months of the year+ I've owned her. Such an amazing car and I can't see myself letting it go. Will just have to make room for an E46 M3 :)
Recently got this done on my W211 E550 the oil filter housing and oil cooler gasket you also somewhat give it a coolant flush and power steering fluid as well as you have to remove these as well.
My oil cooler and oil filter housing started leaking. The independent MB shop quoted me $1024. Yep, ordered parts and socket for $40 will do it next week myself. Thanks for the video.
great having the hoist and the equipment,, one thing im particully interested in the torque applied the bolts, im working on an OM642 aluminium block. changing the seals at the oil filter, and where it attaches to the block.. concise vids are the best, good job mate
Bravo Alex! Makes you want to buy any of the MB Cars with the M113 engine to replace the gaskets. Let’s us know your PO Box so we can send you a some new rubber work gloves! If not your own show on Velocity, how about a segment on Jay Leno’s Garage? Send Jay the links to your UA-cam Channel so he will invite you to join him. All the best.
Oil housing is so simple to remove here!!! Compared to CLK models of the same year, for which you gotta remove thermostat, pulleys, belt just to reach the oil housing bolts. Such a pain. Much easier on your model!!!
Great channel thanks Alex I am on the look out for a c55 here in cape Town. Currently have a 560sel and a 123 series 200 my daily. Time for some AMG fun!!
Thank you very much for the tutorial it helped me a lot on my c240 i had 4 times belt ripped because of the oil leak. Now it's done, but man, that 46mm bolt was a bit sketchy to put back on.
I don't even drive a Mercedes or anything German (On purpose) but I'm subscribed because I seem to take the same approach with my car (91 LS400, 350k ish miles). Fixing stuff right, in detail, the first time. Great stuff Alex, and go Cubs.
you can also replace the MAF seals, the come cheap and there are three different versions, each one with increase number of grooves so it will seal better. And finally do a vacuum leakdown test. Just to make sure. And i would be using a wooden pry tool so i won't be risking damaging the covers. But then again i did this on the E not on the C class, so more room to work.
Hi Alex, keep up the great work... I assumed modern Mercs were far too complex, expensive and so forth for just about any home repairs.... Even moreso for AMGs! Mercs had been automatically no-go cars for me for that exact reason - "if anything needs fixing, it'll need to go to a dealer and cost thousands"... Your videos and referrals to affordable parts are pretty incredible. It's not quite a mid-90s Toyota........... But it's all WAY easier and cheaper than I'd ever have thought; not really any special tools, and many parts available cheap.... It's obviously all easier than working on any Subaru ever made!!! All of your videos make me want to go buy a 15 year old AMG :D
Love your channel. Just discovered it. I'm still working on my w163 ML430 restoration project. Just completed Timing Chain and around 200 other items. Looking forward to follow your channel
Wishing I had a m112 or 113 right now instead of an m272 for the fact there's very little info on the m272's sealant in place of a vcg. No weeping/leaks anywhere else, but oil on my 1-3 coils. 4-6 bone dry. Zero info on spark plug tube seals (possibly o rings?) but wondered if the built in gaskets on the coils could've failed? Gonna pull plugs to inspect tomorrow. Either way, great channel, great resource. Large part of why I feel comfortable doing what I can on my Benz
I would have liked to see the step by step of the whole process of removing the parts as well as some technical explanations for some the parts such as the breather chamber and oil cooler. Other than that great channel .
That’s a very helpful video. I definitely need to do this on mine, I got a few oil leaks, I think most of them are from the valve covers. I just did the spark plugs today, they were probably long over due. I’ll probably wait till spring at this point as I no longer have a garage right now.
Tanner Peavler Oh man we would all starve if it wasn't for my day job, Haha. But to be honest I couldn't even make one video a week if my wife didn't stay home with the kids. It's super hard to fit these in. This was 3 days including editing.
Great video as usual My daily is a 1998 W202 with a M111.970 ( it originally came with a M111.942) and i swapped it, too bad where i live it’s very rare to find a 6 cylinder and not a single AMG in the whole country!
About to change seals on my Nissan. You’re so lucky that they’re located up top like that. Illl have to be on my back and maneuver around the control arm and muffler plus I have to drain all the coolant.
glad you got a parts cleaner, but you definitely need an ultrasonic cleaner(with a temperature control) to get those upper engine parts looking like new
I just did my valve cover gaskets on my M113 and my breather covers are already leaking again. One of the small bolt holes is stripped, but I can't imagine that's the problem with all of the torque the valve cover bolts have. I'm considering getting new valve covers, but that's a lot of money just to fix a minor leak.
Steven...consider yourself lucky. Overpriced troublesome brand, Stick with USA..Japan & Korean makes.. most give trouble free service and you don't take a $$$$ beating when you buy /sell / trade.
If I could, I would definitely get an AMG. The problem is affording the insurance. I got a quote from my insurance agent for a 2012 C63 and it's damn near tripled compared to my 2003 Acura TL!
I love your vids, very informative, i have had many mercs with issues and your vids have given me very good repair guidance. Now looking at q7 as I have a expanding family can't afford a gl. Lol wish you would do some vids on Audi's too.
Thanks for your videos, Alex. Would you please make a video, if possible, about timing chain replacement and give us some info how to check timing chains for ware, common issues and at what mileage they usually fail on Mercedeses?
great video. I've done the same leak fixes on mine. It really isnt that complicated to work on most things, and videos like your are a huge help. Also, when are you gonna swap out those awful wheels? haha
From what I know, on rubber seals it is recommended to put silicone grease, because other types of greases like lithium or petroleum based will damage the rubber!
I’m having leak issues with my c240 2005 there oil all over the driveway and I took 2 spark plugs out and they were drenched in oil.The car doesn’t start anymore but you hear it crank for a second a die out.I put the scanner on and codes came up about leaking.Should I try this ?
I have to admit, this makes me want a c55 amg. What a perfect balance of performance, size, class, and reliability. I have a close friend with a 2007 E63. It’s an awesome car but the parts are pretty pricey. This is 90% of the performance with none of the drawbacks. Now my friend wants to look for one for a daily after watching your videos. Any other critical things to look for? You’ve covered a lot, but is there anything symptom wise to consider when purchasing? Thanks!
Who daily drives their AMG? Actually who daily drives any Mercedes? List model and miles. Even though my daily is a Chevy Volt I've driven this car about 1000 miles in three weeks because it's just too damn fun.
2003 E320 CDI w211. 186k miles. Daily driven.

One of the best diesel engines Mercedes has made.
2003 SL 500, 148k miles daily driven..

03 c240 150k Miles. First car and learned everything I know on it. Feel proud learning how to take apart/fix on a German car!
Can u message me I have one and it has some issues
I absolutely love this channel. This guy is very clear and articulate. I am a BMW and Audi owner, however after finding this channel i'm very interested in owning a Mercedes Benz. This channel will grow, keep up the good work.
you should look for a 2008 E500 if affordable,NA V8 glory.
Hi - Whats the square thing he removed under the oil cooler housing called? I need that O-ring
Oh, so you must be a masochist!

2022, this video saved my life. Im doing oil filter housing gaskets this weekend, now I see this is a totally diy job. Thnx Alex

You need & deserve your own show on Velocity !!!
Alex, I do not own a M113 engine or a Mercedes for that matter but you make watching these videos fun and informative!
Poor guy is “forced to drive the E55 to work” ;) great videos Alex
1st world problems 😂😅
Thank you very much for the video! I daily drive a w210 E55 AMG and love it everyday. I need to do all of these repairs and I obviously have the 5.4l m113 V8. I found the valve covers, it would be super helpful for the names of the rest of these parts ideally part numbers. Thanks Alex!
Great video, i highly doubt most mechanics would be so meticulously and detail, you are awesome
I really like how you showed how to replace the oil filter housing seals. You took some of the fear away!
I just did the Oil cooler and Oil filter housing on my R500. I followed exactly what you said to do. THANK YOU for the directions and all the torque specifications. You Dah Man! 👍🏼

The Conforti Brothers what exactly did you to maintenance wise to keep the wear so minimal? Did you ever drive it hard or race
Brannon Barakat the first owner put 401k on it. It was dealer maintained basically it’s whole life. Not sure how hard it was driven
Nice to see people working on proper cars for a change.
Alec , you make awesome informative videos . I watch
The adds completely hoping you get more $$$ . Thank you
For the editing and pace of your videos. Easy and
Enjoyable to watch.
Thanks Rob, means a lot.
Alex
I will apply little drop of sealant to the V corners on your valve (look 13:35 half moon shaped side). Oil usually leak from such places.
1998 E320 W210, with 137K miles, daily driven. I bought it from the original owner seven years ago and love it. Keep up the good work, Alex, love your videos.
HELL YEAH! Finally good filming, English, and explained! Please keep up the diy's thanks brotha! Go Bears
Thanks so much Bob. So glad you knocked out your own oil leaks and saved some cash in the process. Pretty fun and rewarding job if you ask me.
Alex
I really appreciate the detail you went into changing the valve covers and oil filter housing! Please also show such detail on other stuff like the EGR and the MAF bc those are projects I personally have given up on in them in the past out of fear for breaking them.

What a great guy! So friendly...

I really like your attitude and approach to doing the job right. Good for you young man!
VW, Audi guy here but your starting to sway my decision to go for a Merc next time round keep up the awesome vids dude.
Great info because oil leaks are a problem and a messy engine compartment and floor 👍🏽👍🏽
No you don’t have to remove either of those items you just mentioned
My oil cooler and oil filter housing started leaking. The independent MB shop quoted me $1024. Yep, ordered parts and socket for $40 will do it next week myself. Thanks for the video.
great having the hoist and the equipment,, one thing im particully interested in the torque applied the bolts, im working on an OM642 aluminium block. changing the seals at the oil filter, and where it attaches to the block.. concise vids are the best, good job mate

I’m a bmw man, but I’m hooked on these videos 😎👍
BMW coil packs removal seems alot less involved, just un clip and pull out.
Same!
Very informative, now , I'm getting the courage to do this job on my 2000 Mercedes S500. Great Video
First!! Great video Alex. I don’t drive a Benz but I sure like watching these videos about them.
This is a legit channel. Love it more everyday.
I don't even drive a Mercedes or anything German (On purpose) but I'm subscribed because I seem to take the same approach with my car (91 LS400, 350k ish miles). Fixing stuff right, in detail, the first time. Great stuff Alex, and go Cubs.

Life is so much easier with a lift.
No way in hell am I trying this. Nothing works like you should. This dude makes these videos and thinks the every day Joe can do it. Get reallll!
The everyday Joe can do this I did all of these no lift no special tools and I'm not a certified mechanic
Righty tighty my dude 👍
I just did it on my e55 lol
@@jasonhitch660he does make it look easy but most of these projects are doable. Take your time watch the video a million times. Get’em done.
Genius..thanks a lot
Wished if all mechanics having your passion and integrity

Love your channel. Just discovered it. I'm still working on my w163 ML430 restoration project. Just completed Timing Chain and around 200 other items. Looking forward to follow your channel
Did you restore it?
Do you need to drain the oil when doing the valve covers? (I just changed my oil)
Daily driver : 2002 S430 w200k miles (owned since '05)
I have a oil leak coming from the main on my CLS 550. About to get the work done great video and that black widow sink was 🔥
Would love to see a power steering video! Need some help finding the leak and replacing what's leaking :)
Looove the modified screwdriver trick !
Many thanks.
This is a underrated channel.you give some sound mechanical advice.
I would have liked to see the step by step of the whole process of removing the parts as well as some technical explanations for some the parts such as the breather chamber and oil cooler. Other than that great channel .
The very best DIY available anywhere
I honestly love how consistent you are in all of your videos. Kudos man, keep up the great content👌🏾
It would be great to get part numbers for these seals.
thanks to you and your friends at fcpeuro was able to fix all the oil leaks on my ml320 myself and save a ton of cash keep the great videos coming
That’s a very helpful video. I definitely need to do this on mine, I got a few oil leaks, I think most of them are from the valve covers. I just did the spark plugs today, they were probably long over due. I’ll probably wait till spring at this point as I no longer have a garage right now.
I don't even need to watch the video to hit the like button because I already know the video will be great!
Thanks so much!!! That really helps the video get noticed so I appreciate that.
Alex
I like the part when you say I got to go to work in a few hours. Good to see just because your on UA-cam doesn't mean you need to quit your job.
Tanner Peavler Oh man we would all starve if it wasn't for my day job, Haha. But to be honest I couldn't even make one video a week if my wife didn't stay home with the kids. It's super hard to fit these in. This was 3 days including editing.
I’m replacing the engine in my c32 right now and people think it’s so complicated. I find Mercedes to be extremely easy to work on!
Great video as usual
My daily is a 1998 W202 with a M111.970 ( it originally came with a M111.942) and i swapped it, too bad where i live it’s very rare to find a 6 cylinder and not a single AMG in the whole country!
About to change seals on my Nissan. You’re so lucky that they’re located up top like that. Illl have to be on my back and maneuver around the control arm and muffler plus I have to drain all the coolant.
glad you got a parts cleaner, but you definitely need an ultrasonic cleaner(with a temperature control) to get those upper engine parts looking like new
Hey man, just recently bought an 04 Mercedes E240 2.6L V6 M112 RWD Wagon and love these videos!!
You deserve way more subs and views that you have right now. Keep it up man I love your videos 💪💪
Thanks so much!!
@14:26 - 14:28 I sincerely hope you got the small piece of material! Nice video.
It wont matter
@@DouEditz kool!
I love the way it is presented
Make sure to be GENTLE when scuffing off the old gasket from the soft aluminum valve cover and other parts
Pure Gold!!!!
You just saved me literally $$$$
Thanks
Always a pleasure watching your videos man. Keep it up!
You are stepping up your game! Great video!
Great video, you saved me so much money. Love it !
rip to one of my flathead screwdrivers.. Thanks for the quick tip!
I'm not sure why I'm watching this. I don't even have a Mercedes!
Steven...consider yourself lucky. Overpriced troublesome brand, Stick with USA..Japan & Korean makes.. most give trouble free service and you don't take a $$$$ beating when you buy /sell / trade.
Steven don’t listen to that comment^ get a benz 😁
If I could, I would definitely get an AMG. The problem is affording the insurance. I got a quote from my insurance agent for a 2012 C63 and it's damn near tripled compared to my 2003 Acura TL!
Steven ahhh yess understood☹️ insurance is a bitch mate
Yup! Especially if you're man under 30 and not married :(
I daily drive my 2005 w211 E220 CDI with 837.000 miles!!! It runs very well after the engine replacement on 637.802 miles
One of the best channels.
Keep it up Alex
Rami Thanks so much Rami. Really appreciate you watching
Hey Alex, at 14:25 a clip falls off the RHS into your engine, you may be looking for it.
I with part #’s were listed. FCP no longer offers some of these parts or breather repair kit.
Excellent Excellent Excellent Video!!!
Thank you, Thank you!!! Great video!! This is what I needed...
Thanks for this video much needed right now!
great video. I've done the same leak fixes on mine. It really isnt that complicated to work on most things, and videos like your are a huge help. Also, when are you gonna swap out those awful wheels? haha
Great video! Wonder if you have a video on replacing Mercedes intake manifold? Thanks
Thank you Alex for how to and torque specs I'll be around this to me c55 soon
From what I know, on rubber seals it is recommended to put silicone grease, because other types of greases like lithium or petroleum based will damage the rubber!
I’m having leak issues with my c240 2005 there oil all over the driveway and I took 2 spark plugs out and they were drenched in oil.The car doesn’t start anymore but you hear it crank for a second a die out.I put the scanner on and codes came up about leaking.Should I try this ?
So glad I fond your channel 🖖🏼
I have to admit, this makes me want a c55 amg. What a perfect balance of performance, size, class, and reliability. I have a close friend with a 2007 E63. It’s an awesome car but the parts are pretty pricey. This is 90% of the performance with none of the drawbacks. Now my friend wants to look for one for a daily after watching your videos. Any other critical things to look for? You’ve covered a lot, but is there anything symptom wise to consider when purchasing? Thanks!
