They casually toss them out but both Grethe and Willem’s nicknames are given a bit more backstory in one of the later novels as well as some hints as to why they and Richard (The eyepatch general) seem either invested or cautious about the 86. Grethe lost her fiance in the beginning stages of the war and took to piloting a Vanagandr (the dual pilot mech) solo and wracking up insane amounts of Legion kills while Willem was a bog standard footsoldier…except he was destroying Legion units with only a machete, which people rightfully thought was absolutely insane and suicidal. Both of them were lost to revenge for awhile and it’s why Richard tried to downplay the 86’s achievements when they first arrived in the Federacy. He knew a thing or two because he’d seen a thing or two.
It’s actually wild to see there seems to some higher consciousness that also seems to stem from a human brought assume that’s able to overwrite kiris free will
Week 14 of asking for the full versions of ep 22 and 23 be released on YT. This is the last week of saying this without them caught up to the last eps, so maybe the last time i comment this?
Question for those who've read the source material: Can Shin hear Shepherd comms properly, or is it just their original dying thoughts like with the Black Sheep? We see from Shin's perspective the only thing audibly coming through from Kiri is "I'll kill you," and there's a thing in a later episode that I'm curious about that relates to this.
He only hears their last thought. So, in Kiri's case, it's the "I'll kill you." For Kaie it was "I don't want to die" and Rei just saying "Shin" over and over. The actual comms among the Legion aren't in a human understandable language. If you could hear it, it'd probably sound more like the tones from an old computer phone modem. Plus, it's heavily encrypted.
I really like how they give this unhinged side of character to Ernest. It makes Ernest much more interesting as a character and gives a little bit more depth and potential for character development. I would really want to see Ernest being targeted in a coup, and how the eighty sixes would act
I'll throw this behind a spoiler, although I doubt we'll ever get it in the anime...... When Shin was approaching his first year, another 86 recommended Baleygr for his personal name before he went with Undertaker. That 86 became a Shepherd. The Legion has code names for 3 people they are actively looking for.
16:15 Damn that hit close. As of Volume 13 (Anime adapted the first 3 volumes) We only know of in total 3 special targets like Shin (Where they are designated code names). If you were told that them getting assimilated would be a game changer would you be able to guess the 1 we actually know? (It´s not Lena).
@@legoboy468 I was actually hoping no one would ride the answer to be honest. One thing I’m not sure of. If the legion stops assimilating brains will they shut down? Or have they permanently solved that problem? If not then the legion are fighting to stay alive while also trying to destroy humanity. It makes peace between humans and the legion impossible.
once the expiration date come up, there will be no more sheep (regular legion drone) the only unit that will still be around will be Black Sheep (dead brain legion), Sheperd (living brain legion) and [Redacted] which would kill the number of legion massively and the Legion know that
@@sketchystruggles5361 no they cannot well . . . not yet anyway, cause remember, they just invade a nation and got all those juicy brain, they got ton of them to experiment on once again the Alba have continue to contribute to humanity enemy, how wonderful of them
@sketchystruggles5361 Shepherds are a one time deal. Because they have a lot of the original personality, having more than one copy of that mind on the network causes it to essentially go crazy and shutdown. While there can be multiple copies of a damaged brain for blacksheep, I think there's still a limit to how many successful copies they can make.
I hope you guys watch 22 and 23 in one sitting for the best experience
Definitely
Narratively maybe. But 22 and 23 are DENSE. I think they stand just fine on their own.
also wait 86 days before watching them, as that how it was released when airing
