I was at the premiere at AX as well, even got to the front row by staying through the previous panels. This was such the right call by the director to have this a 90 mins episode because it felt like a movie instead of your every day anime episode. The tension leading up to the scene with Sirius was so palpalable I was shaking so much in my seat.
@@GeneralxGrievousxalso another thing is the amount of talking and setup done at the beginning, there wasnt very many places to end episodes before this. they got thru all the necessary pieces and we get basically back to back action every week from here on out not saying this part is boring or anything, i absolutely love the slice of life moments we see. more characters interactions and lore.
I just wanna say how much I miss reactions from your channel. They’re so full of effort and quality. I've checked out so many other channels but barely any of them care about character names, story details or even trying to guess theories. I seriously can't handle other reaction channels anymore. They just watch without really thinking anything. In the ep 4, almost 100% forgot even the names and looks of the characters. It really made me realize just how amazing and top-notch your channel is. About the Regulas thing, the author describes him as very average looking to the point where you couldn't pick him out in a crowd, but the illustrator decided to drip him TF out and make him handsome, which is why it's a bit confusing
Yeah, I really like his LN design, but the point of Regulus's design in the WN is that absolutly nothing about him stand out, he is the type of guy you see on the street and instantly forget about.
keep this in mind too that tappei literally never describes regulus again after the first time in arc 4 (as far as the WN goes). in all of arc 5 regulus is not at all described physically. this made it really easy to end up making some other design for him along the way. however, it still makes sense even with his drip. the focal point of emilia's trial, in her own eyes, was mostly the events surrounding her mother and geuse. regulus was sort of secondary to that. even when she's watching a scene with regulus in it, she's mostly focused on what happens to geuse and fortuna rather than what regulus or pandora are doing. i wouldnt put it past her to muddy the memory of regulus after a year of not thinking much about those things. id also understand if she would like to put some of those less desirable memories of her past aside and not relive them from time to time.

I'm actually surprised Regulus didn't kill Subaru on the spot as he violated his rights by stopping him from touching Emilia. Given the fact that he's here surrounded by people breathing the same air as him, I fear there's more trouble to come
the fact that there was one hour and a half of just wholesome moments, people having fun and in general a good time (excluding the whole Reinghard´s dad thing) should have been a indication that Re zero was gonna take that happines back with interest, man and those final 10 minutes of the episode didnt disapoint
I wouldn't say it was one hour and a half of "just wholesome moments, people having fun and in general a good time". There were plenty of serious scenes. Garfield's doubt about his strength and the sequence with Elsa in his mind, which then led him to seeing who is potentially his mother, and that's obviously giving him some conflicting, negative feelings. There was the conversation between Willhelm and Subaru immediately after that, which was also a serious scene, if heartwarming. And then of course the entire scene with Heinkel which you already mentioned. And then the fallout of that scene with the conversation between Subaru and Julius.

It's not that surprising that Emilia doesn't directly remember Regulus. She saw him in what was essentially a vivid dream, for about 2 solid minutes, a whole ass year ago. She didn't even see most of the moments he was involved in, because she was following her own younger self as the POV for the sequence. Most of that was just for the audience.

In the pride if story, after Wilhelm is wiped from history after his death to the white whale, Heinkel and Reinhard have a better relationship. Heinkel also defended Reinhard from Wilhelm’s accusations too. Why he ended up changing is hinted at, but I won’t go further simply cuz the side content didn’t explain it fully.
That ending scene was so horrifying it gave me chills. Seeing Subaru and the crowd smile tears of joy clapping as this poor kid is dropped from the tower was so unnerving. Idk if its just me but did Subaru's smile look forced? Almost like somewhere in there he was trying to fight the spell and was deeply horrified watching what was happening. After Returning by Death and hearing Subaru say "I feel sick" is pretty fitting for the feeling he must be going through. Not only has he just RBD for the first time in a year, but that whole ordeal of being under a trance must feel sooo violating. His pose of wrapping his arms around himself to hug himself is usually a pretty big sign of trauma connected to being violated. Being made to do, say and feel things you wouldn't normally do against your will. Sickening. Welp, this definitely was the ultimate welcome back to trauma with Re:Zero

I do believe she can control what people say and do, but i don't know if she can ultimately control what people THINK. At least we don't know that yet. Especially because these smiles look so desperately forced and we know that the Archbishops are degenerate in the worst ways possible. So letting her victims know and feel, what is happening, while they are acting against their own will, would make sense to me. So until we have any other proof I will keep with the tears of terror.
As an anime only, I am extremely hype for this arc. I loved the slow build up of tension. From the moment Regulus showed up on the street, something immediately felt off to me. I love Regulus. But him appearing anywhere is almost never good. The worst part is, we as the audience know how dangerous and powerful he is. But none of the characters do. Well, Emilia technically knows from when he showed up in her past. But she seemingly doesn't remember him. It must feel so awful for Subaru. Having a year of relative peace and quiet. Only to suddenly be thrown back into the horror of death. And you guys are definitely right. Subaru usually goes back a few days beforehand. Hours has probably been the least amount of time he's gone back like when he tried to save Rem at the beginning of S2. But he only seems to have gone back 10-20 minutes at best this time Something I immediately noticed was Sirius has the same last name as Petelgeuse. I only picked up on it because our Sloth boy said his full name constantly when introducing himself to Subaru. So it definitely stuck out to me. Whether she's related to him or worshiped/loved him, I don't know. But something's off. And she has a very similar eye color to Emilia and Fortuna. Her ears look very sharp under the bandages. I wonder if she's an elf as well.
Rewatching the old seasons after new content is great because they hint at so much stuff. All of Betelgeuse ramblings make sense with the context of his past, and when Emilia kills him in one loop, a tear falls down her cheek because subconsciously, she knows who he is. Learning how contracts work and seeing them accidently made early on. Knowing Roswaal was responsible for everything and how often he goes out to set things up, also probing Subaru for info he shouldn't know unless... A lot of stuff being mentioned before it becomes relevant. I can't wait to rewatch after S3 to see what else was set up. Already in this episode, I see potential connections.

There is no indication that Majin was being used as an insult and it's not unlike "devil"/"demon" in English, Japanese Majin is not commonly used as an insult. The way it brakes done in Japanese is Ma "magic, evil" and Jou "woman"/Jin "man", it sometimes depending on the usage can mean "Devil" or "Evil Spirit" but it's not the usage in Re:Zero at all.
Witch is a gender neutral term both men and women are Witches, there is a difference in name in Japanese. But in English witch only became a woman-only term due to more recent media like Harry Potter.

2 things worth pointing out: The Nickname was made because most people don't know Beatrice is a spirit, so when they see Subaru bringing her to fight they got the wrong impression, hence the "little girl user" As for Regulus, Emilia had her memories messed up by Pandora, she barely saw him during the trial and that trial was 1 year ago, so it kinda makes sense she doesn't recognize him immediately. Beako is pretty with a Yukata, not gonna lie. The episode's end was basically a reminder to us: This is not your usual isekai, this is Re:Zero

That ending scene was the most I've been affected by a horror scene in Re:Zero. It created so many difficult to describe feelings in me, and those feelings lingered for quite some time. Haunting stuff.
Do we know if they'll react to Re:Zero Breaktime Season 3? This season of the chibi shorts actually has some pretty important lore and character reveals that will matter a lot in the coming seasons, so it'd be a shame if they weren't aware of them.
yes its popular theory for sirius to be fortuna, the purple eye, white hair and (spoiler) elf ear, she is dead then frozen but revived by pandora coz she is compatible with wrath witch factor, but coz of the reviving its messed her mind, and the bandages is for burn damage received when she was frozen.
The best part about reaching Arc 5 of the web novel is that we’re almost at Arc 6. Arc 6 is utterly peak fiction. It was so captivating that at one point I read for eight hours straight, on the edge of my seat the entire time. I can’t wait for the next season.
Wrath here is the letting your emotions completely control you, not anger. The anger version of it obviously is wrath, like anger possessing you to do things you regret. But it can be any emotion and still included in the definition. Also Subaru chose to be more greedy in arc 4 so don't assume a sin is treated as definitely a sin by the narrative. It's more a being human and balancing sins and virtues kind of theme. Recent thought I had is that Petelgeuse hypocritically judges people for slothfulness because he was meant to take care of the witch factor but betrayed his role to fight Regulus. He's in denial about his actions and the literal sloth witch factor was his downfall so he has personal reasons to hate "sloth", though it was originally the factor not some ideology. Even relying on the witch factor in hopes that he could defend them was slothful in his mind probably. So all these factors make you realise his behaviour might not be generally applicable even if the cultists all attack like that.
Another fortuna-sirius connection is, we see in the trailer that she uses fire magic, which is also used by fortuna and emilia. See, in the world of re;zero, ice magic isnt a subset of water magic, its a subset of fire magic.

I'm actually kinda excited about this with all these Sin Archbishops here, he could avoid one only to stumble into another and then find himself back at this same starting point, he puts together a plan and squad to deal with the two archbishops when finally he realizes...there's yet another one, just right there that he needs to handle! And then he needs to restart again and try to figure out what's going on and he realizes that although there's all these people around, Reinhard can only be in one place at a time and when he figures out what to do next, then all of a sudden there's another complication!

the fact that there was one hour and a half of just wholesome moments, people having fun and in general a good time (excluding the whole Reinghard´s dad thing) should have been a indication that Re zero was gonna take that happines back with interest, man and those final 10 minutes of the episode didnt disapoint
I wouldn't say it was one hour and a half of "just wholesome moments, people having fun and in general a good time". There were plenty of serious scenes. Garfield's doubt about his strength and the sequence with Elsa in his mind, which then led him to seeing who is potentially his mother, and that's obviously giving him some conflicting, negative feelings. There was the conversation between Willhelm and Subaru immediately after that, which was also a serious scene, if heartwarming. And then of course the entire scene with Heinkel which you already mentioned. And then the fallout of that scene with the conversation between Subaru and Julius.

It's not that surprising that Emilia doesn't directly remember Regulus.
She saw him in what was essentially a vivid dream, for about 2 solid minutes, a whole ass year ago.
She didn't even see most of the moments he was involved in, because she was following her own younger self as the POV for the sequence.
Most of that was just for the audience.

Subaru turns into a child, Subaru goes and meets Emilia, Emilia DOESN'T recognize Subaru (in fact she when asked she thinks he looks familiar, and suggest that he might be a family member, but that was a guess at the moment of being asked), everyone else does recognize Subaru, there's multiple instances of Subaru putting a disguise, almost everyone notices it's him, but Emilia never does (of course there's some exceptions where others don't recognize Subaru because he disguised himself REALLY well) but 100% of the time Emilia won't recognize someone if it looks slightly different.
Also before you ask, kid Subaru looked exactly like Subaru but small.

In the pride if story, after Wilhelm is wiped from history after his death to the white whale, Heinkel and Reinhard have a better relationship. Heinkel also defended Reinhard from Wilhelm’s accusations too. Why he ended up changing is hinted at, but I won’t go further simply cuz the side content didn’t explain it fully.
That ending scene was so horrifying it gave me chills. Seeing Subaru and the crowd smile tears of joy clapping as this poor kid is dropped from the tower was so unnerving. Idk if its just me but did Subaru's smile look forced? Almost like somewhere in there he was trying to fight the spell and was deeply horrified watching what was happening.
After Returning by Death and hearing Subaru say "I feel sick" is pretty fitting for the feeling he must be going through. Not only has he just RBD for the first time in a year, but that whole ordeal of being under a trance must feel sooo violating. His pose of wrapping his arms around himself to hug himself is usually a pretty big sign of trauma connected to being violated.
Being made to do, say and feel things you wouldn't normally do against your will. Sickening.

Especially because these smiles look so desperately forced and we know that the Archbishops are degenerate in the worst ways possible. So letting her victims know and feel, what is happening, while they are acting against their own will, would make sense to me.

As an anime only, I am extremely hype for this arc. I loved the slow build up of tension. From the moment Regulus showed up on the street, something immediately felt off to me. I love Regulus. But him appearing anywhere is almost never good. The worst part is, we as the audience know how dangerous and powerful he is. But none of the characters do. Well, Emilia technically knows from when he showed up in her past. But she seemingly doesn't remember him. It must feel so awful for Subaru. Having a year of relative peace and quiet. Only to suddenly be thrown back into the horror of death. And you guys are definitely right. Subaru usually goes back a few days beforehand. Hours has probably been the least amount of time he's gone back like when he tried to save Rem at the beginning of S2. But he only seems to have gone back 10-20 minutes at best this time
Something I immediately noticed was Sirius has the same last name as Petelgeuse. I only picked up on it because our Sloth boy said his full name constantly when introducing himself to Subaru. So it definitely stuck out to me. Whether she's related to him or worshiped/loved him, I don't know. But something's off. And she has a very similar eye color to Emilia and Fortuna. Her ears look very sharp under the bandages. I wonder if she's an elf as well.
Rewatching the old seasons after new content is great because they hint at so much stuff. All of Betelgeuse ramblings make sense with the context of his past, and when Emilia kills him in one loop, a tear falls down her cheek because subconsciously, she knows who he is. Learning how contracts work and seeing them accidently made early on. Knowing Roswaal was responsible for everything and how often he goes out to set things up, also probing Subaru for info he shouldn't know unless... A lot of stuff being mentioned before it becomes relevant.
I can't wait to rewatch after S3 to see what else was set up. Already in this episode, I see potential connections.

It’s both. It’s like comparing demon and ogre. In Japan it’s like the same. They refer to him in actuality as a warlock, but the way it pertains to Roswaal is him taking on an inhuman position.

There is no indication that Majin was being used as an insult and it's not unlike "devil"/"demon" in English, Japanese Majin is not commonly used as an insult. The way it brakes done in Japanese is Ma "magic, evil" and Jou "woman"/Jin "man", it sometimes depending on the usage can mean "Devil" or "Evil Spirit" but it's not the usage in Re:Zero at all.
Witch is a gender neutral term both men and women are Witches, there is a difference in name in Japanese. But in English witch only became a woman-only term due to more recent media like Harry Potter.
Al (Priscilla's knight) is an extremely important character who got some of his scenes cut from season 1. I hope they do him justice in this arc

2 things worth pointing out:
The Nickname was made because most people don't know Beatrice is a spirit, so when they see Subaru bringing her to fight they got the wrong impression, hence the "little girl user"
As for Regulus, Emilia had her memories messed up by Pandora, she barely saw him during the trial and that trial was 1 year ago, so it kinda makes sense she doesn't recognize him immediately.

I cannot figure out a way to start this post, as everything I am typing feels tired, over said, another excuse and stupid.
The past few months I have been doing okay mental health wise after my Bipolar episode. After Anna and I got sick, I was hit with another wave of an episode. I haven't had the clarity to figure out the best way to convey what I am feeling because at the end of the day, I don't think that it will make sense. However, saying nothing was and is the absolute wrong answer.
When I am at the low point with my Bipolar, the only thing that I can focus on is that I am letting you down. Not meeting the schedule that I am creating for myself, and then hating myself for various different reasons. If the situation wasn't as severe as it was, I would have acted differently. When it is severe, I get to a place where it feels like saying anything will make it worse on myself. It is selfish and not fair to do that. And that is why I am writing this, even if its tired, over said, another excuse and stupid.

The best part about reaching Arc 5 of the web novel is that we’re almost at Arc 6.
Arc 6 is utterly peak fiction. It was so captivating that at one point I read for eight hours straight, on the edge of my seat the entire time.

Wrath here is the letting your emotions completely control you, not anger. The anger version of it obviously is wrath, like anger possessing you to do things you regret. But it can be any emotion and still included in the definition.
Also Subaru chose to be more greedy in arc 4 so don't assume a sin is treated as definitely a sin by the narrative. It's more a being human and balancing sins and virtues kind of theme.
Recent thought I had is that Petelgeuse hypocritically judges people for slothfulness because he was meant to take care of the witch factor but betrayed his role to fight Regulus. He's in denial about his actions and the literal sloth witch factor was his downfall so he has personal reasons to hate "sloth", though it was originally the factor not some ideology. Even relying on the witch factor in hopes that he could defend them was slothful in his mind probably. So all these factors make you realise his behaviour might not be generally applicable even if the cultists all attack like that.

with all these Sin Archbishops here, he could avoid one only to stumble into another and then find himself back at this same starting point, he puts together a plan and squad to deal with the two archbishops when finally he realizes...there's yet another one, just right there that he needs to handle! And then he needs to restart again and try to figure out what's going on and he realizes that although there's all these people around, Reinhard can only be in one place at a time and when he figures out what to do next, then all of a sudden there's another complication!
