I kind of missed this because Ryan Laukat games are generally not on my radar, I enjoy them but never loved one really. But when I saw the art of these cards I instantly fell in love with it and LatePledged it. Now that I have seen the gameplay and it gives me Marco Polo (II) vibes with the dice placement and traveling, one of my favourite games ever, I am really excited about it, even if your FinalThoughts almost seem to lack your enthousiasm you have for games that you REALLY love. :D (I think there was no "Oh my god this is so good" :D)
That was exactly what I was thinking. I'm a big fan of Fantastic Factories, and I wonder if adding this to my collection is worth it. It feels like it has maybe more elements involved?
I really thought I was crazy to like Artifact Inc and now I’m really excited for this title 😁 I saw they were getting a new version of Islebound as well… I just hope the changes are significant enough to justified replacing my old one 😅
You might have already seen this on the Gamefound page, but they have an option to add-on just the new components that make the new Emerald edition different. I already own the original, so I'm just adding on the extra bits.
I like creature caravan world and mechanic and overall I think game is great. However I think game does not have clear and fun objective. I mean some other target to chase except of points. For example: to reach safe zone as hords of orcs are coming from the west (insta lose when you are being catched) and then as a secondary to gather points. Maybe it can be a subject of an expansion 😀
I was also able to play this 4 times as a tester. I like the game, but not sure if I pick it up. I really liked the gameplay, but felt like not fighting the zombies was really not that big of a deal.
@@rahdo what I mean is the penalties for not fighting the zombies really did not seem that big of a penalty. One or two negative points never seemed to effect the final outcome.
yup, fairly minor. enough to make you think about how to avoid if you're not fighting, but not enough to lose you the game single handedly. if you completely ignore them, you'll lose maybe 10 or 12 points in the end? that might be 10% of your final score, so worth paying attention to :)
I haven't watched much of this but is it a re-themed Oregon Trail? I usually watch your final thoughts to see if I like the game and if I do I watch your whole series. Great video I'm watching the rest of this series for sure.
i think mode people consider "light" to be in the realm of ticket to ride, and he's definitely crunchier than that. defining where the middle of the light/heavy spectrum is can be tough though :)
sort of. if youre not moving forward and your opponents are, you feel the panic. but crossing the finish line isn't what will win you the game... the cards are where its at :)
I recently bought an Artifacts Inc copy and immediatelly added 7 dice based on your tip from the review, thnx! 😊

From watching your video this felt like Fantastic Factories with an added map you need to cross.

well yeah, this isn't a combat game. the zombies are another avenue to score points. if you're looking for epic combat, this isn't the one :)

I'd say he's known for light euro games. Crunchy is not what I think when I think of his games. They are usually light and smooth.

@@rahdo True that
Thnx for the review! ❤ Does the game feel like a race game? Because you said that you see eachothers progress. thnx again😊
