- The Nomos Orion is a classic minimalist Dress watch that's a GREAT value. This model is an earlier version, where they still had screw bars versus springbars and the ETA 7001 Movement before they made their own Alpha movement that's based on the 7001.
Love the Orion , the no date version is the perfect dress watch
Im a big fan of hand wound watches, when the watchmaker worked on mine he wanted one and asked me where he could get one he said the quality was extremely good. Sometimes quality is not flashy and Nomos is one of the best brands just not for everyone.
There are two Nomos ADs in my area and one of them (Shreve & Co) even claims to service Nomos watches. I don't know how much they charge, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out if you send the watch straight to Nomos in Germany it only costs like $280 for servicing. That's decent for an in-house movement.
That's great! Glad to hear it!
When you change out your strap on the Orion you could just replace the screw in type bar with a traditional spring bar. Personally I like the screw in type for the added security it offers.
I like it. Elegant. Minimalist. Modern with a hint of vintage.
I've talked to some collectors that think one of the most important charactertics of a dress watch is to be plan/minimalistic/boring. Not sure I agree, but still.
Wow how fitting! Literally two days ago I started considering this watch! Curious to see what you will have to say about it!
Just subbed. I own the Nomos Club Datum in 38.5mm love it so much that I want another Nomos and this seems to fit the bill rather nicely. I’l be taking a look at a used one today the asking price is $1100 usd but I’ll try talk him down a little mainly because it is a closed back rather then a display back. Oh congrats and hope you had a awesome honeymoon
I don’t blame you. They’re great pieces. Thanks for the kind words!
The watch that got me started down the dark horological path, and I still cherish and wear it. The later version is far better, imo by the way. Nice in-house movement and open caseback to see a pretty well finished movement.
It’s certainly a great piece. Not surprised it started this addiction!
Thanks for the review!
Anytime!
Thanks for the review. Been a fan of Nomos. But will not be in possesion since I seldom attend any formal events. Nomos has this long lug hands that might not be a fav. But, maybe this is their one unique traits, like those snowflake hands of Tudor

Working my way through day by day! Thanks for subscribing!
Yes.
I own one and my only complain is its a bit boring for daily wear. Other than that all positive.
Agreed. It's a little one dimensional sometimes.
I like their watches, but the long lugs just kill it for me.
Isn’t their Alpha a clone of ETA 7001!?
I owned this watch, with the sapphire case back, for a little while. I loved it but it’s super dressy with how thin and fragile it seems. I didn’t find myself wearing it that much so I’m actually selling it.
You still selling? I’m interested
@@canadianwatchmonkey3992 I sold it awhile ago sorry
Rather get a Rolex Cellini.
Fair enough!
I can never pull the trigger with Nomos. It just too simple for me. It doesnt feel special. When I spend thousands of dollars on a watch, I want to feel that the watch is speical. Spec arent that good too. Low power reserve and not really that accurate. I would spend a few hundred dollars on this piece, but not in the thousands, but to each their own. I'm looking into the G Shock MRG squares which is niche, so I cant tell people how to spend their money. Buy what makes you happy
