Your channel excels in these up close and unbiased reviews . You've been fair and informative in all of the videos that I have seen. I think it's a nice niche to occupy when there are a thousand channels doing the same tired "IS THE ROLEX BUBBLE POPPING?!?" videos or just gushing over the same few watches. I appreciate the variety of watches you feature and your evenhanded commentary. Thanks for putting all of these great videos out for us!
Thank you for the kind words. Glad my “purpose” comes through in the videos. Appreciate you watching and hopefully I’ll have some more interesting reviews for you in the future!
This is the only Nomos I’m considering buying. I absolutely love it and it’s so unique. Great video. Love the longer length so we get to see and hear a thorough take on the watch.
Interesting that this is the only nomos that caught your eye! And appreciate the feedback. I consider making the videos shorter but plenty of other people have that format. Just doing my own thing for better or worse 😂
Thanks for the very complete and interesting video about a very unique watch. I have one of its cousins, the Tangente Gangreserve with the patented power reserve complication, which I absolutely love. I've always found the Metro very interesting and, as you said, unique, but until I saw the Silvercut version, couldn't quite get interested enough to buy. I'm saving up for it now. The attraction of Nomos is the superb workmanship, seen in the polishing, the dial and the movement, which at this price point, is impossible to find. If you like the Bauhaus style, Nomos is the penultimate.
I have a number of watches, Rolex, IWC, GS etc, and this watch has become my absolute favorite. Wearing it right now, quirky but dressy. I have the grey NATO and wear it with anything from a t-shirt to a suit. Love it!
My wife tried this on a few weeks ago at the AD and it’s an incredible piece. Frankly I didn’t get it based on the catalogue photos but it all really comes together in person. By the way I love the strap tests in the reviews - super helpful when one may not be super sold on the OEM or want to see how it may dress up or down.
First video I’ve seen of yours. Great review of my favorite and go-to watch. I love it because it is so independent but it is not independent for the purpose of being in others faces like an mb&f would be. I like this watch because I found it beautiful not because of the way I thought others would view it or me for wearing it. I get very few comments on it and only have seen one other in public since buying it six years ago. The only true downside to me is switching out straps with the weird sizing.
Thanks for watching and glad to hear you’ve continued to love the piece. It is something special in the catalogue. And I agree on the point of independent feeling without being too much. Haha ya the strap situation can be strange.
One small thing you didn't mention, at 45 past the hour, or at 9 o'clock, the hand perfectly underlines the "Nomos" text. The text isn't even vertically centered, for a reason. This watch is asymmetry done right, and taught me that symmetry is overrated. The asymmetry gives the dial a sense of dynamism and movement; the Metro without power reserve with its strict vertical symmetry looks rigid and sterile to me. The short and downturned lugs wear much better than the more typical Nomos popsicle lugs. It wears big; it's only 47mm, but visually wears more like a 40. They went to all the trouble of designing the power reserve, but only use it in like two watches. Why not do more with it? I don't get it.
Never knew that happened. Small details can escape me here and there haha but that’s a great point and I’m sure is intentional. And I agree it’s nice to have asymmetry because it’s such a breath of fresh air compared to everything. And absolutely they should do more models.

Fantastic video, this watch was on my shortlist for a while now and I just pulled the trigger on secondary. Curious, you mentioned popping 16mm springbars into 18mm straps - have you had luck removing and replacing the 18mm springbars with 16mm quick release to make it compatible with the metro? I’ve looked at a couple of my straps and it seems like I’d have to stretch the ends open by quite a bit to work the QR springbar out.
Congrats on getting Nomos to send you the watch ! I hope other brands follow suit. Like you pointed out those hands look very cool. I couldn't quite figure out how that power reserve works. Does it rotate around? Oh and I'm curious: what was that fantastic strap you have on the Zodiac?
Thank you! It was a nice surprise. And it’s interesting. The entire power reserve disk rotated around. When it’s empty there’s a red portion that’s shows, and as you charge it the red disappears from that little portion of the dial window. And the strap is from delugs. The nubuck denim ostrich
It doesn't have AR coating indeed(most Nomos don't either). The date module is added by Nomos to the base movement, so lack of quick-set is understandable. This is one of the icons in their portfolio in my opinion. Not sure why they don't make more color variation of it but I have no complaint against this one.
I love Nomos and just about every watch they make, if not to own at least to look at. However, I really dislike this watch. I suppose it’s a very acquired taste. I would label it as sterile.
That’s fair. I do think in person it feels less boring then online. I wasn’t too different in opinion from you before wearing and spending time with it. Not the most interesting nomos but not the most sterile either
To be fair a wristwatch, unless it’s a gshock, isn’t very practical in modern times. I’ve personally never taken a watch in water so the wr is a nonissue for me.
This particular watch has earned loads of design awards. Definitely not a design mess and definitely not a cheap fashion watch. Are you sure you're not just butthurt you couldn't afford one?
Why not? In house movement, in house battery indicator, proprietary nomos escapment module, great dial, thin case, date... An oris with sellita movements and custom rotor can go up to 2, 2.5k. I would rather buy an in house movement over a Swiss made watch that just slaps a sellita inside and charges a premium...
Sorry for the very late reply! I would say probably the nomos club or Orion whichever you prefer stylistically, then Baltic mr01, and then really any Seiko of choice. Seiko srpb41 I think is still one of the best dials and dressier pieces irregardless of price. Honorable mentions Junghans max bill Mido baroncelli Stowa marine 36(or whichever size fits best)

@@bryandinner1830 one day! Probably next year.
I absolutely love my 1101. I highly recommend it.
Great to see brands are noticing you! Well deserved. Great review as always.
Thank you I appreciate it. Always helps not having to buy pieces myself 😂 thanks for watching!
@@theknightswatch Yeah the amount of money you put into the channel makes me feel bad for you sometimes haha.
@@owl23452 haha thankfully I like being able to experience so many watches.
Great to see such a thorough strap and size review. Well done!
Thank you!

The silver cut is particularly special, always a treat to see that one. Companies need to do dial patterns and textures more often not just colors!

Nice to hear this one is getting so much love. It’s a fun one without a doubt
I've placed an order for my first Nomos Metro First Date, and now I'm in for a 6-month wait. I believe it'll be worth it😊
Hope you love it!

I couldnt agree more! Your point on the non-power reserve version is spot on.

Great review. Keep doing what you are doing, your channel will grow.
Appreciate ya 🙏🏻 thanks for watching
I strongly believe that Nomos ia one of the best if not the best points of value under 2-3k bucks. Thanks for the vid!
One of the watches that I love at the first sight.
I have tried on this watch. It wears well. The power reserve Tangente also looks nice.

Absolutely, and thank you for making a interesting watch to review!

Awesome that they can keep the watch so thin with even with a module. And absolutely is an icon in the catalogue
Dial looks particularly attractive with the oxblood strap, imo.
Agreed it paired a lot better than I expected
Is there any risk posed to the date module when being set like that? (Going back and forward between 11 and 12?)
What are your top 3 dress watches under 2k?
Hi, can I ask where I can get the yellow and green strap?
All straps linked in the description!
Imo the power reserve circle is a bit too small. The 38mm version looks better
Finally, lug to lug length that's not crazy long.
Haha right. Companies listen sometimes
I really wish you wouldn't show the watches on the bony part of your wrist. Who does that? Just looks wrong! Great reviews though.
Unfortunately that’s just how I wear them 😂
compared to other watches of that price point it's a great deal

Please do not shadow the watch with your left hand
A nice watch but expensive with a very poor water resistance. I don't like the small second. This is not very practical.
To be fair a wristwatch, unless it’s a gshock, isn’t very practical in modern times. I’ve personally never taken a watch in water so the wr is a nonissue for me.
The date window is an abomination on this otherwise beautiful watch
This watch is a design mess. I recently handled one at Bhindi Jewelers in Glendale, CA, and it just looks like a cheap fashion watch.
To each their own! I like it and think it’s unique but I can see how it won’t please everyone
maybe it was a fake
This particular watch has earned loads of design awards. Definitely not a design mess and definitely not a cheap fashion watch. Are you sure you're not just butthurt you couldn't afford one?
Absolutely not worth the price 🤦
