I got to see 28 in operation myself when I visited railtown 1897 during Fourth of July weekend 2021. While I kinda wish I saw number 3 in operation as she's my favorite engine on the roster, but getting to see 28 in operation was still great as getting to hear her cannonball whistle was amazing. I hope to make another back someday once 3 is running again, but for now at least 28 is running for all visiting or railfanning the line that's seen many movies and tv shows filmed within the last century.
Awesome! The Sierra Railroad has always been a favorite. Never been there in person (yet), but I know it from so many movies and TV shows. #28 looks good as new here! Another great video- thanks!
@eatmorebugs Sierra #3 has been down for an overhaul during the past year or so. From info I heard recently, the restoration will be done sometime about late August of this year, give or take. Thanks for commenting.
@@thetraintrackernot an overhaul or restoration. The locomotive is down for its FRA 1,472-Day inspection, that’s it. That does not inherently mean that an overhaul or repairs are necessary. The locomotive is in excellent condition due to the 2008-2010 overhaul; the 1,472 is more or less a formality/insurance to verify that it is safe to operate and compliant with federal regulations.
Good one.
