His mistake was overestimating Thiaw, but otherwise, it was major individual mistakes: Jovic (which as a coach you can't plan for) and two massive mistakes by Thiaw. He can't keep up with Pioli's fast system, Thiaw is just slow, and at the moment is also coming off an injury. We should have a better defender next to Gabbia, someone even faster than Kjaer. Ideally, we'd have a Tomori Gabbia pairing.
