Congrats on the pickups. Love the 52 Yogi. The registration is beautiful. You are right. It's hard to find centered and clean. The overall population is not the high either. When I bought my 57 Drysdale. I went about it the same as you. A very clean card with centering off a little top to bottom. They present well that way.
That Kahn’s is fantastic! Nice little array of Mantles. The pickups form the show are amazing! The Berra is very clean. Really like it. That run of Double Plays is very impressive. Thanks for the video and thanks for sharing!
You really got some classic cards! You really have a passion for these cards. They had to cost alot but it's cool you were able to get alot of the same kind of cards. That Willie Stargell is really one of a kind.He hit the ball out of Dodger Stadium twice, man,he could hit the ball a mile. I love your enthusiasm!!!
Wow. This is what I was waiting for. See these up close and hear about them. I bet you are pretty happy getting these. That Yogi Berra.....I like the best. That set is beautiful.
Hi John, you got some great pickups at the Annandale show. The promoter (Nick) has been promoting shows in the area for over 40 years. A really nice guy and collector, he was once featured in an article in SCD. Those Mantles are beautiful.
I hadn't heard the name Lionel Carter in years! All of us old-timers know his legend. That Kahn's 1966 set is just so colorful, one of their best. I grinned when you said that you don't know why you love baseball cards. I don't think any of us know just why we do. But that indefinable lure makes it fun and fascinating.
Great pickups. I watched the Annandale vid also. The guy in the black jacket/grey collar was just as eager to sell as you were to buy. Dealers, put the phone down, stand up, and look interested.
Gave a video like. I watched this earlier in the week and had to watch it again. I like the action shots as well plus that one is oversized with two HOFers. Sweet sweet card! I love those 1941 double play cards. Those are two of my favorites with Cronin. I remember reading an article in a Beckett magazine when I was a kid that had Joe Cronin and Mel Ott. I've wanted to collect them ever since.
Love the "66 Kahn's and cool to be from the Lionel Carter collection. Your white letter Mantles look great. Double Play with 2 HOF'ers or even 1, so cool...,... I love old baseball cards too!
Great pickups and double plays. The Reese even though it’s his rookie is so much more affordable than the play ball. I love that greenberg/dickey in action card.
I have the Mantle '69 Topps too, but just the, regular/common Yellow name variation. I really like it, (and yours) it's a great card. But congrats on your pick ups. Really like the Greenberg and Stargell as well. Glad the Annandale show went well!
Stellar pick ups. I'm with you on the old cards. I just love them. Not made for anything else but fun of collecting. I wish I had my dad's old collection. They all pre-dated the sixties and my mom tossed them out as old kids junk. And I put a bunch through the bicycle spokes in the sixties. Who knew?
That what makes them valuable. We needed all the moms to throw them out and for us old timers to put them in our bike spokes to make our bicycles sound like motorcycles. If we would have graded everything and put them in those dum a$$ pelican cases back in the 50’s, those cards would be worthless. Thank God we grade every card we pull from packs and grade them so that in the future all these cards will be worth……..LESS!!!!!!!
Lefty Grove, that was my Grandpa's favrorite player besides Gehrig. He loved those A's teams of the 20s and 30s. I have his 1933 Worch Cigar, that was my Grandpas
I’m a little shocked more collectors don’t talk about or seem to collect cards that were in famous collections. I appreciate your card from the Lionel Carter collection! I’ve got a T206 card from the Charles Bray collection.
One day I hope to get one of Joe's cards, ran into him out in California back in the 80's when I was in the military but didn't know who he was until my uncle told me. Missed out on getting a auto, and wish I had.
Interesting that PSA crossed the Lionel Carter Collection pedigree. I have a few SGC cards and I thought his whole collection was graded by SGC before being sold. Beautiful White Letter congrats. Nice ‘52 T Berra. That Greenberg is cool was not familiar with it. Thanks for sharing.
You know what I like to do when I get home from looking at baseball cards at a card show in Annandale, Virginia? Look at more baseball cards. Because you can never look at too many baseball cards.
I too picked up some big cards myself. They were 5x7. I do have some yellow letter variants, but the are 1968 Milton Bradley cards which I don't know how affects the value.
@@MrJmangini i didn't know I had them until I learned the ones that came in my WIN-A-Card game were diff. I stopped set building the set then because the NOLAN and the other stars I'd have to get again.
can i ask u a question… i have many vintage cards and most all I want… I’m thinking to trade up those cards to the same card in a higher grade and conslidate my collection.. is that a good idea ? I’m a collector, but long term I do plan to sell them.. would like to hear ur opinion.. going to the philly show in march which has alot of vintage.. instead of bringing cash thinking to bring cards to consilidate up.. do dealers give good deals on trades of just cards as shows ?? I’m thinking not as they need a profit margin ???
yogi berra is one of those GREATS but does not have name recognition … I kinda invest in HOF’s that have name recognition and most people do not know yogi berra… a great for sure but for some reason people just dont know his name like the top HOFs of his era...
@@MrJmangini yes, i’m sorry to say the person on the street does not know the name yogi berra… but does know all the other big name baseball players… yogi berra was great but he just does not have “name recongition” of the big HOF players of his era.. he is second tier...
John - PLEASE do not do a show voting on the "youtube sportscard HOF". Better yet please as our President ban this ridiculous practice. While I love UA-cam vintage sportscard content the fact these guys are voting one another into a "Hall of Fame" is comical. I could deal with the little gifts & home made portrait cards they give to one another but voting each other into a HOF is a bridge to far. Make it stop.

All beautiful cards. Love the Mantle white letter card.
Thanks Peter

Great cards John! All beautiful examples! I love the double plays
Thanks Jason
Playing day DiMaggio, fantastic! Loved seeing all the other ones you have from that set, great stuff
Thanks

If loving baseball cards is wrong I don’t want to be right!
Great pickups. I watched the Annandale vid also. The guy in the black jacket/grey collar was just as eager to sell as you were to buy. Dealers, put the phone down, stand up, and look interested.
Love those Double Headers!
That’s the best 12 dollars I’ve seen spent at a card show. Awesome stuff, John
Tremendous pickups John. Another master class education
Thanks
Great additions John! Dickey & Greenberg card is cool.
Thanks

Stargell and Mantle, wow! As for the pickups from the show, those are great! The DiMaggio is SO great!!
Thanks. So happy to get them.
Great showcase as always, sir. My wife can’t figure out why I like baseball cards so much either. Thanks for sharing.
They don’t get it :)
Those are some great "$3 cards" John. Enjoyed watching the show video.
Ha thanks!

Love the Greenberg and Dickey. The dealer you purchased from seemed reasonable and gave you a nice deal on the package of cards you bought.
Great pick ups, John. That 52 Berra is a beauty. Cheers!
Thanks Paul
Amazing stuff John. Congrats on all those 🤛🏻
Thanks!

Oh man im so jealous of that 69 Mantle BVG one thats fire !!! Loved them all John

Amazing cards as usual John! That Kahn's Weiner Pops card is really cool. Great looking Berra and the White Letter Mantle is sweet!
Thanks!
Great cards. Love the white letter Mantle!

awesome cards, wasn't familiar with Lionel Carter looked him up what a collection he had!
Yea he’s a hobby legend.

I would, but Mangini won't sell me the Cleveland cards I want!
Ha!
Those '41 Double Plays are super cool!
Yea I love them
Glad you were able to get the Annandale pick-ups for $3 a piece 😉
Ha!
Great cards John! I feel like there is not a day that goes by where you are not looking at baseball cards.
Not too many. That’s for sure.
Really like those Doubleplay cards especially the Williams/Cronin.
Yea that may be my favorite. Thanks

You know how people are. They have to have PSA holders. Not sure but I suspect it was originally in an SGC holder.
That 69 Mantle in any lettering is a tough card to find centered. They're either really tilted or badly miscut. That BGS you picked up us a beaut
Yes
Terrific as usual the king
Thanks Octavio

I'm building a 69 topps set.
It’s a great set.
Nice haul!

Nice pick-ups John , ❤ me some 41 Playball 😍

I'm moving up in the world. I actually have one of the cards you bought. 😂
Haha I’m sure you have a lot of the cards I have!
How do you do it. Find three dollar cards that is. Love the POPS card.
It’s easy. I just change the price tags.
The Double Play set is super underrated.....the Reese, Rizzuto, Boudreau, and Slaughter are all technically rookies.
Great. You just cost me more money lol
What do you think are the three most beautiful cards in baseball card history
That’s too hard
@@MrJmangini
1. Dockman and Sons Christy Mathewson
2. 1934 Gehrig. Yellow back
3. 1956 mantle .
@ I’m in agreement on the Mathewson. I have the E101 same front.
@ beautiful card.
@ yea that’s the one I always say is the most beautiful card.
Oh man, don’t ignore Charlie Keller!
King Kong!
Great stuff, John! I love the Kahn’s Stargell. Do you have the 68 Kahn’s Johnny Bench?
No I don’t. To be honest I didn’t know he had a Kahn’s card.
@ Yeah, it’s a beautiful image of him on the card. It’s pricey and you don’t see them often

Do you have any earl whitehill cards? (1923-1939)
No I don’t
Who you got in the series this year...Mets/Yankees?
LA. They bought a great team and pitching staff. You know your pitching staff is good when Kershaw is your 6th pitcher.
