BADASS VIDS ROADKILL, i am trying this out ASAP. i am one of the 11meter cb freaks, i have wanted to build a metal detector cause they cost to much to buy, i am rebuilding a coil for a P.A horn as you read. I am that guy that lived thru a 138,000v X 3000amps equals just over 2.25 million watts of juice. now i never sleep always feeding the mind with info..
OK...I need to DO part 3...what I eventually figured out is Teknetics Rx coil in center tapped, this significantly screws up the measurements. the other side of center tap goes to a resistor and then to common ground with Tx, to act as a balance to help null out.
@Ivestor1 it's unlikely the company will endorse and kind of after market coils, I'm just working with what I've got on hand. I'd love a few cheap BH's for all the coil experiments I have in mind...they're easier to work with and cheap to replace when they melt down :-)
Part 2 - eagerly awaited, here at last - now part 3 on Sunday, Jim you are under some pressure here LOL. Part 6 by Christmas? Great stuff mate, can't wait. HH.
I've been waiting forever for the Hobbit. I guess I can wait until Sunday for the trilogy finale of another epic adventure with Jim. I got my Mxt, needs a minor repair, but I dug a 1944 George vi cent in my local park before the rain came. It is heavier, but not too bad.
i am new to metal detecting jim and i live in oklahoma where there is mass amounts of clay in the soil here i was wondering if that would inhibit the signals i should get from detecting i am attempting to make a detector and will buy an actual one soon i was wondering if you had any tips or hints for me? response would be greatly appreciated
this was posted quite some time ago...I did purchase CB plugs...right pin config, wrong pin size! I am currently working on some other tectors so stay tuned to my new vids...this vid attempt taught me alot about coils which I'll explain in upcoming vids.
This might help you with your plug search, yeah a lil late but showing up to the party late is better than not showing up at all. MAR 6TH - NEW COIL EXTENSION CABLE FOR ETRAC/SEPRO--------- youtube.
A few things: 1. that buggs bunny & friends light switch in the background was AWESOME. 2. in your formula I don't subscribe to Pi - rather Im a Tau kinda guy. 3. your zippo has got to be a "dug" one - it looks like hell but it still works - VERY COOL. 4. your hair is outta control!!!! 5. you like Radio Shack waaaaay too much!!! 6. ahahahahahahahhaha can't wait for part 3 bud!!!
And it would have been nice to show ALL the sound test you did with the coil. Did you plug 1 to a PSU and the other to a speaker? People with little knowledge need to SEE. Please.
Ah,........yeah??? The back of the class will bombard you with math questions. You might need to post a link for a math wizard? Some guys need simple machines that just cut on and go.This gave them a headache! I predict Lance Armstrong will come out of retirement, and put on the ol' usps shirt. This time peddling Roadkill eliminator coils. He looks expensive though,so all your profits will go out the window!
I miss Star Electronics up in Columbus, Oh...they long gone now...but BINS full of tubes, switches, what the hell is it...unreal place...Radio Shack=porn shop: i.e. over priced and STILL not enough to satisfy the fetish... :-) :-) :-) Can I get an amen brother?
Our radio shack sucks. Nothing but cheap as RC's and cell phones. better off on-line. Back in the day you could find anything there. Now they control what you buy on line(w/ CC) so if your building a nuke(rolls eyes) they can trace it back.
"Radio Shack=Porn Shop for Geeks"....awesome! (go there when must have part "now"). I go to "digikey" (online), they have the best browser (Mouser and Newark only rarely). For mechanical parts, prefer McMaster over Grainger (anyday, again better browser/filter function).
"HEY ROADKILLSCJIM" ive got a project & could use some help , besides me , & a big fellow for helping us dig. We would have access to 100 acre old missouri hill-top farm near a trail used by indians,pioneers,civil-war-troops, with documented confederate graves.House built in 1904 & property has never been detected & thousands have made camp there. YOU-IN ?
Dude, you are a unappreciated genius. Well done!

Hi Jim, Enjoyed parts 1 & 2, but where is part 3? Can't find it. Wanting to see how things turned out.
OK...I need to DO part 3...what I eventually figured out is Teknetics Rx coil in center tapped, this significantly screws up the measurements. the other side of center tap goes to a resistor and then to common ground with Tx, to act as a balance to help null out.
@roadkillscjim Where is out there. Is it Walterboro? Seems to be near there.

Just order the plug very cheap from AliExpress (china) about a buck /pc i bought 5pcs for 4:50. Search for avr connector or aviation connector.

yes and no...primarily the problem was tekentics G2 coil appear to be center tapped on the Rx side, no clue how to find the actual number to match.
THE INTERNET ! you big silly.
And it would have been nice to show ALL the sound test you did with the coil. Did you plug 1 to a PSU and the other to a speaker? People with little knowledge need to SEE. Please.
