  • HOW TO DIY ONE OF THE BEST METAL DETECTOR CIRCUITS is a premium Interactive video Tutorial. See bottom of Description for The Gold, Coins And Treasure Ebook. This video is focused on the Goldfinder Metal detectors, and how anyone can make a decent power metal detector for themselves. My Goldfinder XTR Metal Detector has been very popular in the past, so I decided to create a series! As with Gold on the Beach 6 Platinum, and GOLD ON THE BEACH 10, we continue to provide helpful how-to videos and movies, with helpful hints and tips we have learned from our many Treasure Hunting Adventures. See our 10 live gold finds on camera and learn how and where to find Gold nuggets with our video, - how natural Gold occurs. Gold on the beach and finding large Gold nuggets is always exciting, so come watch this show with premium content.
    Important: Read this description.
    Finding valuable items is all about finding the right spot to detect and not about buying an expensive detector except if you want to find gold nuggets, then you will need every advantage you can get, so you will need to spend quite a lot of money. If you want to build a metal detector with decent performance go to the on line shop and buy a kit or two at ----www.silverdog.c...
    They are tricky to put together, but if you are careful, you can make a very competitive metal detector for a fraction of the price. This video is accurate and specifically designed to make it work. It is not quite as good as the Goldfinder XTR, but it is none the less very good. You can however use my smaller Goldfinder mono search coil at • HOW TO BUILD THE GOLDF... . With this circuit as it has a similar power output.
    Important:-There is a problem with the circuit used in this video. The round silver transistor top left hand of picture in video (2n2222A) is twisted and so the tag should be facing down not up as in the picture.
    The people who design these pulse induction circuits are the technical elite. Everything I know about the Barracuda legend metal detector is in this video so don't ask me questions I can't answer. It is a very good detector circuit for water, salt, and normal ground conditions, - even under water. Not good for Australian Goldfields because I believe the balance is far too slow at compensating for highly variable ground conditions. Yes it will find fishing hooks and such but if there is gold you can bet it will not miss that also, it as it responds to gold items with a very clear and loud signal. But above all enjoy the project.To Buy The Gold Coins And Treasure EBook,- Best Price, Click this link,- www.amazon.com...

    Great job Freddy, just one tip if I may. I did quite a bit of micro soldering on missile launchers in the US Navy so i've done much of what your doing here and I gatta say, you do great work, to help from soldering two or more posts on you din plugs together it's good practice to start furthest away from you this way the fatter part of your irons tip doesn't get near the previously soldered pin. Probably a tip better suited for the more amature guy who may be watching this. Just a tip from a guy who's soldered 250 pin 24k gold "cannon plugs", the screw in type. Love the project buddy, very nicely done.

    Some soldering / board making tips, fix the smallest and closest fitting components on the board first. Use a piece of sponge over the loose components grip tight and invert then they do not fall out, build slowly away from the PCB. IC sockets, tag two opposite corners, invert and check they are flat if OK solder in, if not you only have to unsolder "1" joint.

    Good video, thanks, and I would like to add one advice, when adjusting the blue trim pots (variable resistors), make sure you do not use a metal screw driver, it will alter the detected signal and will give you wrong readings, rather use a plastic trim pot adjuster or anything non-metallic. Thank you again mate.

    The key is to place the correct component in every pcb location and then solder the components to the pcb pads well avoiding the dry joins.

    Hello Frederick, i have a question for you, The surf pi 1.2 (XTR) is better than the Barracuda legend ????
    If you got a comparison it would be awesome.
    Regards

      Both are pulse inductions with 12 volt input but diferent circuits, the surf pi is particular suited to salt water. the baracuda works well on normal ground and salt water.

    Great video, thanks Frederick! Your other videos have been incredibly helpful also. I've just started getting in to detecting (this week), but a decent detector is well out of my financial reach at present, so I'm going to give this project a go.
    Would you be able to give me an idea of what type and size coil I should build to give me the best chance at finding small gold nuggets in soil with reasonably high mineralisation? I see all sorts of designs floating around, though I don't understand enough to know which will work with this circuit. Would I be correct in saying that this circuit is limited to mono coils?
    Would you say this circuit performs better than the Surf PI?

    This might be my next project. I do have a question on a different detector. The Twin Loop Treasure Seeker. A P.I. detector by Robert and David Crone. I built one and haven't got it to detect anything! I own 4 detectors and have made 3 others. 31 year old magazine article about the Twin Loop T.S. left out that the circuit board needed top side jumper wires and a discrepancy of coil winding #, 24 or 30. If you have any info on this Treasure Seeker circuit, please let me know. Thanks. Robert and David might be pretty old by now. If this detector in the video above has trouble in Australia, it might have trouble in New Mexico. Any feedback from people in New Mexico that have built the detector in the video? The Garrett Infinium works out here, I dug a hole 3 feet deep, 2 feet wide only to find expanded mesh screen. Good exercise.

    HI Fredrick
    Great video well explained on how to do the basics of board and circuit set up and solder.
    What Voltage is the unit working on ( 8V 9V or 12V )as there are no instructions or parts list with the Kit I purchased last week.
    Also just to confirm the Coil you made was it on a 250mm Diameter former also the wire 0.5 dia x 20 turns is that correctas I have seen another site which gives 250 dia 0.4 wire x 22 turns Thanks

    • @GoldfindersAu
      @GoldfindersAu  9 років тому

      Ron Gill Better off with more winds on thicker wire. in other words go with 22 turns at .4 as it shouldnt damage the board with too much resistance. Any hook up voltage below a solid 11.5 will cause it to become erratic so it is a 12 volt system and very power hungry too.

    Hello Frederick! Thanks for the awesome video. I'm planning to get started on my own metal detector but need a little help answering a few questions if you don't mind, it would be highly appreciated.
    When purchasing this kit from silver dog, does it come with all the on board components?
    Is the barracuda legend considered the "control box" of the metal detector?
    Also what are all the parts that make up a metal detector such as coil,headset,etc.?

    • @GoldfindersAu
      @GoldfindersAu  9 років тому

      sam qadd Q1 all components except headphone jack and the rest of the metal detectorQ2 i call it the control boxQ3 coil, adjustable shaft, hand grip, arm rest- a manufacturer would have diferent names and more detailed descriptionsi have videos on how to make the rest of the detector, but my ways are diferent to most others, and it is not an easy project

    • @Jason-du2qc
      @Jason-du2qc 8 років тому

      i have to agree, i messed the first one up, the second one i made a water tight tube that wasn't very water tight and lasted a few seconds when submerged, i have a few more boards that i will put into housings when i get back home, I'll get a video of the coil up and will post a link to you, the basket weave is a lot harder. Ill give the Barracuda a try, i have been looking at building something i can use in a gold field, as my go to machine for the beach is a excalibur.

      Vagelis Vog I use any insulated wire that is larger than the coil wire, and it works well.. just remember that any metal around the coil when you connect the power will cause it to temporarly shut down.also careful you dont connect the power wrong as it will damage the board. some one told me that one of the large black diods in the top right hand corner is in the wrong spot in the picture.it will work but it is not protected from wrong power hook up.

    • @GoldfindersAu
      @GoldfindersAu  6 років тому +1

      i don't know.. usually the largest coil will pick up deepest, but that means it will loose sensitivity to small pieces. recommend Whites TDI with Minelab 18 in coil or similar.

    • @GoldfindersAu

      Goldfinders ok i understand the coil size but what about the three kits that are offered on silverdogs webpage. What is the better kit?

    • @GoldfindersAu
      @GoldfindersAu  6 років тому

      The Baracuda is a 12 volt kit that will not be powerful enough to support a large,- coil i think. however it will pick up a beer can 2 feet with 8 in coil. i would ask the supplier as i haven't tried large coils with another circuit May be a higher voltage system will work. The people who design these circuits are in a league of their own.

    • @GoldfindersAu

      Phreaker The hammerhead has control over its operation.However detector companies which solve that problem ask a premium for their detector because it is the most dificult problem to overcome.Goldfield areas are often full with conductive material, especialy in Australia. it is like finding iron through iron. in other words most detectors see the goldfields as one big iron field

    • @GoldfindersAu
      @GoldfindersAu  9 років тому

      Vagelis Vog if you are using the baracuda with .4 copper insulated wire i would use try 25 turns at 8 in diameter coil. you can experiment so long as you dont short something out or hook the bateries up wrong.if the coil wire is too short it will heat up the circuit and damage it. i have never tried .4 wire and i am not an expert, but but my experience tells me that it should work well as . 5 wire is what i use and it works so long as i dont use too little and damage the board.
