- Charles makes an appearance on the channel once more as we join him to collect his new MZR Roadsports Datsun 240Z and take it out on the road for the first time, albeit in the snow! This is a car he's been waiting patiently for nearly 5 years, a full carbon bodied MZR Evo.

All personal taste, but I'd rather this than a 'supercar' any day. That combination of the looks, the sound, the simplicity and the sensible power level. Just stunning.
Couldn't agree more!
💯
Totally agree.
This is a “supercar”. The combination of everything it brings to the table makes it so. My opinion anyway but I am a Z owner also so maybe I’m bias
This is the answer to modern "sports" cars. It's everything they aren't. Analogue, engaging and fun. Amazing. Congrats!
Couldn't agree more!
A 77' Datsun 280z was my first car I learned to drive on. After 3 years and a few minor breakdowns I traded it in for a pickup truck and didn't spend a day afterwards regretting it! 2 years later I found a 1972 Datsun 240z (lime-yellow & same birth year as me) and I KNEW I WOULD NEVER NEED ANOTHER CAR. -Fast forward 2 years of patient restoring and love and some jack-brat kid ran a light in his moms tin-can and T-BONED my Datsun, TOTALING IT. And that was that... for nearly 25 years I worked on my career and family and for my 50th birthday last year, I found and purchased a 1970 Datsun 240z for just under 20k ! Everything about this car is clean! During the winter, as it's cloaked under its silk car-cover in my garage, not a single trip to the garage refrigerator for a beer passes, that merely seeing her and being united doesn't pick up my spirits and make every beer taste THAT MUCH BETTER! I'm Complete again!
Great to hear, would love to own one of these beautiful machines some day 👍
Beautiful custom 240Z. Underrated classic. Greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦
Hey 👋
One of Bradfords finest exports! Car looks and sounds amazing! Congratulations and well jelly!
MZR need to be more known in the wider car community.
Couldn't agree more! Best kept secret
It sounds incredible, pure analogue experience 👌
You know it. Man and machine in the purest form 🙌
@@scd Holy trinity of engine, chassis and driver
i had been following this channel for some years and had the honour in getting some karting advice from Charles not going to lie i was a bit star struck as i immediately recognised him from these videos but i was to nervous to speak properly to him 😂😂 this guy has forgotten more than what most know about any car really any motorsport to be honest you only have to listen to what he says about them the passion and love he has for it its absolutely in his blood (mixed with unleaded ofc) 😂
What a guy!
Amy from Liverpool
Phenomenal video given conditions, well done SCD and huge congratulations Charles, you’ve tapped into the UK’s best kept secret discovering MZR Roadsports and I wish you many years of driving utopia 🧡
Many thanks! All your fault 😂
Such underrated cars. The sound in these are incredible and right up there with other classics which are considered more exotic! Love the interior colour combination too. Brave souls driving it in such weather with no ABS and TC!
😁🙈
Where has this guy been? He's one of my favourite presenters ever. More of him please.
This is fantastic that SDC are covering cars like this. Brilliant
Thanks for watching Chaz 🙌🙌
What a fabulous car! Your smile driving it says it all. Enjoy in good health!
It definitely makes you smile 😁😁 in love with it
I'm very rarely impressed by restomods these days, too many gimics and trying to 'out-unique' competitors, especially the 911 fraternity - just so boring now. But this! This is wonderful, so refreshing to see and hear, and that interior trim and those seats just look absolutely stunning.
It’s just SO perfect
Congratulations. You must be delighted. I have a beautiful 260z (swb) that puts the widest of grins on my face every time I take it out. I'll never part with it. Am sure you'll enjoy yours for many years to come. Lovely review too...
What a beauty! First Z's are just perfect...can't imagine that kind of power in such a light car, plus a manual gearbox to round the experience. 😍
Couldn't agree more!
First video I watched on this channel, it popped up (coincidentally, I hope) just as I'm reading about MRZ in Waft's Restomods book. What an absolutely gorgeous car, I hope you enjoy it as its makers intented.
Welcome aboard! Oh no doubt he will 🙌
I've been following any video MZR 240Z were shown and tested for years. And still, what a car! I'd really love to have one.
Congratulations on such a magnificent build, really tastefully modified, a perfect recipe. 👏👏👏👌🏼🔝🔝
Thank you 🙏
Good to see cars like this on the road 👌 🙂👍
It sure is!
Lovely sound.
That workshop will be my first stop if I ever get back to the UK again (From NZ) I own NZ's first 240Z, it's in a million bits and I MUST get back into finishing the rebuild. Just the sound of this one in the video gets my juices flowing again.
I'm a Z guy all the way back to the 70s....this is one of the best I've ever seen!
That is the most stunning car ive seen. Any chance you could share a cost breakdown
That is one sexy motorcar. Far more desirable than any modern McLaren or Ferrari to me.
Sure is!
Beautiful car
It sure is!
i want to restore one of these one day, they just have such a timeless design
They are gorgeous aren’t they
Incredible, what an amazing sound! Congrats…
UK weather and roads tho 😢
Thanks a lot! Been waiting that long 😂👍
Happy to see someone doing these 240’s like Singer does the Porsche. Sadly, like the Singer I could never afford one like this.
Absolutely lovely 😃👍👍
Thank you! Cheers!
😎👍 Beauty!!! My buddy bought a 240z in 2007, and from the first time I experienced it, I was in love! I agree with everything mentioned in this video. For pure driving engagement & pleasure on the scenic back roads, I'll always enjoy an older, lighter, more engaging "classic" (but, the early 90's were only 10 years ago, right? 😁) sports car. Plus, modern cars are so over styled / all look the same / have terrible front end design. So many 90's Japanese sports cars look absolutely beautiful today, even as over 30 year old designs.
As always, to each his or her own. For those chasing lap times and optimal performance, there is no denying that modern sports cars deliver the goods.
Nicer than a Porsche, lovely silhouette and sound and yes, perfectly balanced. Great work.
Glad you like it!
@@scd I just wonder, how does it handle without ABS and TC? Doesn't it make you a bit nervous on the road in these cold conditions?
They are great cars, I had a dark blue '74 240Z and it was tough and reliable.
One of the best ever Japanese performance cars.
Ah nice 👌
Your 74 Z was a 260Z, not 240Z.
@@sharokinisayo7389 Google '74 model 240Zs...too bad you didn't have one ;)
Love it, Looks beautiful, sounds beautiful, super cool and I know they are great to drive.
Mine now has a 500HP RB26, but I l loved it even when it had 170hp, proper connection to the car and the road, feels very solid and no driver aids.
you take that car's delivery on a day that has ice and snow on the ground. Brilliant there BIG GUY!! GR8 IDEA? IF YOU HAD WRECKED THAT THING, YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN THE LAUGHING STOCK ON THE NET
Back in the day when I was a lot younger, I had a black 240Z with Wolfrace alloys on ,…PMC 677L Best car ever, I had the time of my life with that motor, way ahead of their time imo, wish I still had it because they are fetching phenomenal prices now 😳!
Great job on yours 👍
Awsome build and awsome spec. Congratulations
72 240z was my first car. My dad bought it for my 18th birthday for $1500. It was a one owner car... older (by the time I got it) lady owned it since new. Still had the wood steering wheel, which are RARE to find & gorgeous. The interior looked showroom clean apart from the dreaded dash cracks that had juuuuuust started to show. It was immaculate BUT, it was the 3 speed automatic which I guarantee took away from the experience. I eventually sold it for a 68 Firebird. In retrospect I never should have sold it and just swapped transmissions and turbocharged that L24.
Amazing looking machine!!
It really is!
Great video.We're riding with ya.
Welcome aboard!
Absolutely gorgeous..
Tasteful modification..
Sounds glorious
Ooof top notch!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
That war cry from the ITBs 💦
Lovely lovely car..Just about spot on for the road. 👍👍👍
It really is!
That's great!
Who wouldn’t love one of these - ‘proper car’.
It’s why I keep my Cerbera.
Beautiful 👏 👏 👏
Thank you! Cheers!
I have a stock 240z to. Still fun to drive, although 150hp ( 110 at the wheels maybe) is nothing anymore off course these days but it is still fun to drive. Just a fun cruiser on summer days. Off course i could put a 3 liter stroker in it, but i love it more original matching numbers
Of all the places in the world, I was not expecting to hear Bradford 😂
Lovely car. Bet it cost more than most supercars to build, though.
Congrats from Denmark 🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰
Love it ❤
Thanks for watching 🙌
gee. that looks superb.
It is!
Here I was thinking I was the only good thing to come out of Bradford 😉
😂👍
It’s perfect
What a fantastic motor , colours perfect as well
Is that coming to Merseyside your accent sounds local ? Would love to see that about
looking foreword to a proper shakedown in the spring when the roads are dry!!!
Absolutely gorgeous car. If I should choose between a gt3rs and this yellow 240z I would say hai to the Datsun and nein to the Porsche
ur a very lucky man!!!
240 Z's have been a favorite since I was at school ( a looooong time ago). Did you supply the base car or do they source one then do the rest? Might have to contact them
Amazing 🇨🇭
Hope those roads aren't salty!
Good choice in cars. I loved my Z….would love another.
Good choice!
An MZR 240Z is my dream car... one day 😩😩
I kick myself every day for turning my nose up at these when I was a kid learning to drive in the 90's, when they could have been had for dirt cheap. I was so into muscle cars (and particularly Mustangs) at the time I didn't think much of the old import cars and now... now I want a 240Z or 260Z or even a 510, but they are unobtanium in decent shape now. They are all clapped out or super expensive.
What's is the price range for these MZR Z's? I have a fully restored 73 Z myself but love the retro/modern look of these.
Beautiful job ! How much weight was saved with the carbon body ?
Not sure! Will ask
I'm a few minutes, and did I hear you right? It takes 2-3 years wait time for delivery of a commission? Not to be diminutive but MZR is a great rising auto house and I have been a fan but are they on the level of Singer Design to have that long of a wait time?
👌🏻🔥🙌🏻
Gorgeous, curious what this cost?
Wow that's amazing zx model 240+ zx 280 i am machinec this car this car is race car gtx gtr and zx280 great car turbo system
🎉🎉🎉
🙌🙌🙌
🙏
Love the color. Is it an OEM color or custom?
It’s PTS Sunforest yellow 🙌
Still manual windows? I would prefer electric windows but that’s being very picky on such a beautiful piece of art
1971 240z curb weight 1044kg..
Thought yours would have snuck under the 1 tonne being all carbon body?
p.s. i have a 73 240 and a 70 datsun 2000
Nice! Will report back
Wide body, bigger wheels, race suspension, bigger brakes, luxury interior all adds weight, but look at it, who cares and it’s way up on power to more than cater for a few lbs ❤
How much is one of these?
You know there’s a company in Florida that make a DOHC head for the L24/26/28 engine.
Man, your Datsun really looks very expensive because the bright colour, the rims, and overall interior
I always like the design of this car, it is mix between casual and aggressive (in my opinion) it is also very simple
There is one in my province and it cost around $5400, i will get it soon or later, amen 👍
Sounds way better than any screaming ferrari
I wish my Gran didn't sell her her 1973 yellow 240z...
Gorgeous car.
But there's just no good reason not to run air cleaners on a street car.
Got to intake as much salt and grit as possible for a good break in

I wouldn't trade my 911 for one, but...well maybe?
Drive one 👀
@@scd I actually have, but not like yours! I sold cars in the 90's & we had a used 240z, red manual for sale and I took it out for a couple hours and had a BLAST driving it! Got in some trouble with the sales manager for squealing the tires on the way out(dumb young guy shit) Love to own one!
It’s nice but an MST escort is even nicer
Nice. 944 is better
Build your own thats half the fun ar least! I love telling people when they ask me...Is this your car its awesome man! I love answering them Yes its mine I built it!!!
