Man, I just love everything about this car - the paint job, the interior, the engine bay, the sound. Most people end up completely overdoing their restomods, but this Z has stayed very much on the classy side of things. Wouldn't change a thing. Great job.
I bought my 1971 240Z in 1993 . I've done everything to it. Was rebuilding it when Princess Diana died. Put only 10 miles on it since then. Sits in my garage. Got to take it out again, very nice car.
It's a very brave and bold project that Rahail and Martin have launched and I believe that they are not catering to a customer demand but rather creating that demand. MZR makes RHD and LHD cars - those who pooh-pooh the injection for not having the induction noise - you've never tried it ! Zs needd builders like these for the special market - there are other builders for other markets - the Z was always a world car - not it is classless - a car for everyone and every pocket.
A modern touch to a beautiful classic without ruining the original design yet, improving the driving experience. Nicely done on so many levels. The video work is great as well.
David Phasey they really are a beautiful creation. The car attracted so much positive attention when we were filming with it around Wales and the Peak District
Very nice car. I'm a 69 240z owner. I would have liked to see more of the car. The engine itself, the interior and the undercarriage. Maybe you can do an update and include just a bit more of your build. You know, let the build do the talking. Thumbs up.
Not even close to the same level. I’ve seen both in person. The MZR car is on par with a very nice garage build. Singers on the other hand are what you get if a top level race team decides to build a road car, Thing Pagani and koenigsegg
I dont mean to brag, but i am glad i live in the U.S since nissan exported so many of the s30z to the U.S market so there are so many and its still affordable at this point
Awesome video, been looking at what MZR have had to offer for a while now. I'd love to see a video about Paul Stephens Clubsport Series 2 and the business as a whole. A proper good alternative to a Singer.
The ultimate 'Z' was produced long ago by Nissan themselves. It's called the Z432R (officially only 3 made). The engine was the same as supplied in the 'Hakosuka' - the 6 cylinder 24 valve S20.
yeah, well done; theMinilite/Panasport style mags always did suit the car best, and I'd go ITB ahead of triple carbs myself these days, simply for tuning ease.
If it would be my Car I would put an Rb26 single turbo in it, stroke it to 2.8 liters and make a custom Oil Pan to retain the AWD function but that will propably never happen
I love the video. Beautiful classic car inside out, nice exhaust note, beautiful scenery, good shots. Only one very tiny issue which ruins the beauty just a little bit…. the driver wears an Apple Watch..😂😂😂
A lot of 240Zs never got farther than California. I know my '73 never did! Carbed 2.8L, 5-speed, springs, shocks, braces, front air dam, rear spoiler, larger Toyota brakes. Simple yet effective upgrades.
You can go for the 260Z or 280Z they are also nice cars and most people don't even know they are different. I have had a 1974 California 260Z for 7 years now and absolutely love it. ❤️
Veganpotter Thevegan I don't really agree with that lol. They have cinematic angles and themes and beautiful content. So it already is a fantastic video. Shooting 30fps would just tie in and complete the look they were already going for. Hope my response makes sense.
This is shot at 50fps, the shoots are real run and gun stuff so 50fps gives some slow motion flexibility in post. If people really want 24/25fps for some scenes then we can take this on and make it happen! Here to make the best we can for scd subscribers!
Yep yep...reliability came stock with the Datsun Z. Even performance and Handling...came stock with the Datsun Z. You are polishing an already great car......but nice job with the car...I like it....I own 2 myself.
Where's the alternator? It's weird how you can't see any accessories. I see a belt, so it has to be spinning something down there! Chock it up to bad camera angle, I suppose. It sure is a great looking engine! Great car as well! I had a '73 back in college (early 80s), but it needed a lot of work. The engine was good, but the body was a bit of a rust bucket. No rust showed on the body, but it was all over the place you can't see without looking harder. Good old St. Louis salty roads.
B Is For Build's W.I.P. M5 V10 Swapped 240Z may be the ultimate swapped Z, in my opinion. Car is not complete, but the engineering involved is amazing.
Lurcher260 : clubbies DO have an under-inflated appreciation of Z values (and I don't really know why....) but they also have the best notion of what it costs to restore one and therefore the best to ask for a Zs' worth (in adverts) when seen for sale. Everyone has their place in the Z world and market or aka, everyone their Z :-) !
honestly, in a world of Singers, and Eagles, this is average. I have seen better builds at car shows. This is not up to the level it needs to be. I have been saying for 5 years, that if E-types, Alfas, 911's, and MGB's, can have this uber tuned versions, then 240Z is ripe for this make over. I think this is not quite it. The interior is decent but not great. My triple L28 in my 240Z sounds as good if not better. Fuel injection may be okay for some, but I think the sound of carbs working are irreplaceable. I do like the wheels though. Look like 8' wide, which means it probably has coilovers. Again, I do not see craftsmanship, I see a parts thrown at a car. You cannot expect Singer levels of detail for 90k, but Vast improvements can be made to the interior in this car. NIce try, but I can tell you without a doubt it is not the ultimate 240Z
Check out their other builds, this one is quite tame in comparison to build they have done for various customers. Also it is early days for MZR, with the support they have and cult following for the brand, there is very exciting times ahead for them. Maybe the next car we film will be something a bit more special....
I don't think sdamico555s' comments are related to whether the car in question is tame or not - they also have a classic version (I've seen an orange one) which is tamer yet so imho, that is not the issue here. Hard to compare Singer and other equivalents to MZR because MZR are taking on old product and modernising it whereas the Porsches are moderns having been back-dated ! And for me, any 'ultimate' Z has to have an L-gata engine otherwise it is no longer a Z - that rules out all swaps whether Nissan or otherwise. .....now who is going to fit an S30 body on a Z34.......?
There’s a lot of room in the engine compartment of the Z car. Drop in a Chevy V8 and you end up with a very nice car. Light weight, independent rear suspension and 50/50 weight distribution.
Nope, the ultimate Z is a 432R. I'll keep my clean 72 thanks, your center gauges suck, the original split gauges are beautiful. I think this is too far, just do a little upgrades within reason like triples, rear disk kit etc.. and enjoy the car for what it is. You said it is still a 240Z engine, well in fact it is a 280Z engine. I have found revving the 2.4 higher and using all the power VS the heavier 2.8 is probably a better option for twisty circuits and roads.

Same here

Hi, what color is your 71?
It's a very brave and bold project that Rahail and Martin have launched and I believe that they are not catering to a customer demand but rather creating that demand. MZR makes RHD and LHD cars - those who pooh-pooh the injection for not having the induction noise - you've never tried it ! A modern touch to a beautiful classic without ruining the original design yet, improving the driving experience. Nicely done on so many levels. The video work is great as well.
tbh I'm kinda scared as this is my favorite car ever and im worried that i'll never get to drive one due to inflation
you're right
the rising blocks nah they're still out there for cheap, you just have to deal with rust
not in ads that I have seen
Ugh I have a beautiful red 240z. Runs and drives and I haven’t even started it in 4 months :(
:(
Used to deliver parts to these guys
Had a massive unit at the time with plenty of older Japanese stuff. Well played lads, well played
Pretty much my perfect car. Desperately hoping that one day in the near future I find the money for one. Stunning.
David Phasey they really are a beautiful creation. The car attracted so much positive attention when we were filming with it around Wales and the Peak District
Very unlikely they go up in price every day.
Did you ever get a Z?
What an absolutely stunning Zed - Fantastic work. I love the colour!
She's a beaut!
Good to see there is a market for the S30Z in that Singer/Custom bespoke design vibe the 911's have been getting.
gav240z that’s not time they’ve been referred to as the Singer for the 240Z. Really special craftsmanship
Very nice car. I'm a 69 240z owner. I would have liked to see more of the car. The engine itself, the interior and the undercarriage. Maybe you can do an update and include just a bit more of your build. You know, let the build do the talking. Thumbs up.

A bit late i know but this might help .
Love my 240z. Their quality is on par with Singer for the Porsche. Great vid.
Lucky guy! Thanks for watching buddy!
I've seen one of mzr's cars and while they are beautiful they are not on the same level
Not even close to the same level. I’ve seen both in person. The MZR car is on par with a very nice garage build. Singers on the other hand are what you get if a top level race team decides to build a road car, Thing Pagani and koenigsegg

flyingmikey can’t help be impressed by what MZR do! Yes that’s a car we’d love to shoot
Beautiful. I prefer the 280ZX, but to each his own. You have a classic there.
Very nice car for sure. Looks straight as can be from the manufacturer with mods. Excellent job !!
Thanks for watching and commenting :)
beautiful work mate well played!
Would love to see a collaboration with OS Giken; that TC24B1Z would be a beauty and a beast!
Great film guys!! Love those MZR wheels, very nice take on the old Watanabes :) . Who did the cinematography for this?
Nice promotion of Lidl :P :P I jest, ace video, lovely car! Was this part of the season opener? The orange one was glorious!
haha! Yep it was at the season opener :)
Thank you Petro... euh SCD! Well done
I have a 71 240z and a 83 280zx turbo. Both 5 speeds. I love them both.
The ultimate 'Z' was produced long ago by Nissan themselves. It's called the Z432R (officially only 3 made). The engine was the same as supplied in the 'Hakosuka' - the 6 cylinder 24 valve S20.
Nice clean original lines. Even kept the valance plate on. Well done!
Just looks superb
yeah, well done; theMinilite/Panasport style mags always did suit the car best, and I'd go ITB ahead of triple carbs myself these days, simply for tuning ease.
I love my 260z, modded so long ago... about 18 years ago now but still batters everything on the road having just over 550bhp
that must be quite a handful!!
Check *Street Bandito* for the _Ultimate_ 240z
Xavier Ancarno .......that guy I watch him
I like how light their z is
they are using the I4 for the beginning because they had it in the shop, they will later boost it and eventually even get a bigger engine ;)
I would vq swap it
If it would be my Car I would put an Rb26 single turbo in it, stroke it to 2.8 liters and make a custom Oil Pan to retain the AWD function but that will propably never happen
Very nice Z. Always really liked these cars. My dad had one, brother had one. I had two.
*Ultimate Datsun 240Z* - is like saying - *The Ultimate Holiday ... In Bridlington!*
I had the same year / model with zero rust. Paid $500 in the early 2000's. Sold it when a 1966 Mustang needed the garage space.
Tbh I would of kept the Z
I would still choose to get into that GT2RS!
I've always wanted that Datsun since I found out about it...Which isn't very long, but still.
Cameron Ohlin they have such a cult following and it’s only going to accelerate when more people find out about the wonders MZR work on the 240 👍
You can go for the 260Z or 280Z they are also nice cars and most people don't even know they are different. I have had a 1974 California 260Z for 7 years now and absolutely love it. ❤️
That color is amazing. Is that a mint green or tiffany green?
What sideview mirrors are those and how are they mounted?
Love the videos! I would consider shooting at 30fps as opposed to 60 (or whatever this is shot in) to look more cinematic and less hyper-realistic
Aidan red All good feedback thanks for watching
That's the easy way out. Like making everything black and white and calling it artistic...
Veganpotter Thevegan I don't really agree with that lol. They have cinematic angles and themes and beautiful content. So it already is a fantastic video. Shooting 30fps would just tie in and complete the look they were already going for. Hope my response makes sense.

Straight 6 FTW
Wow. Great car. Great video.....4:04 where is that bay??
4 wheels on My wagon it’s overlooking Harlech in north wales
What gauges are those? They are so clean!
Clean Z but Scotty's green stroker on Watanabes is King! KING! KIIIIIIIIINNNNNNG! 😎
That engine bay 😍
And this is why all the available 240-260z's are so expensive 😭, beautiful work though
The color pops.
lovely, but should ad wider rear n front fenders, is that an option?
thanks
Handle With Care yes! So much customisation available, see their website 👍👍
So damn CLEAN !!
Pristine!
A lovely looking Z, apart from it looks a little over-tyred to me.
This guy is a 240 specialist?!
Very nice 👏🏻
Rim and tire size? Which ET is it on?
What are the side mirrors on this Z? They look functional than the factory ones.
Dayummmmm.. Push button start
I would love to see someone do a 240z that is on the level of a singer or an Alfaholics car. While this is a start, it’s not their yet
It’s beautiful. Man I wish I had money
Yep yep...reliability came stock with the Datsun Z. Even performance and Handling...came stock with the Datsun Z.
You are polishing an already great car......but nice job with the car...I like it....I own 2 myself.
Added to my wish-list
Dozens of UA-camrs claim their 240s or 280s are "The best" or "The Ultimate". It's never ending.
Where's the alternator? It's weird how you can't see any accessories. I see a belt, so it has to be spinning something down there! Chock it up to bad camera angle, I suppose. It sure is a great looking engine!

Damn... Love that color.
Class!
It's needs alot moreeeee freaking stance! And it needs the black Fairlady Z duck lip wing
Whats the color?
Very nice
So nice
B Is For Build's W.I.P. M5 V10 Swapped 240Z may be the ultimate swapped Z, in my opinion. Car is not complete, but the engineering involved is amazing.
Starroad makes the best 240Z period
Beautiful and desirable? Yes! Ultimate? No, not really.
How much would this be worth after works on it ?
99k
This is streets ahead
Would you believe i know exactly where that garage is for the photo shots..have you looked inside? Lovely guy owns it, has a 1920 s bugatti
sidewayssam as if ! Had no idea
And there is more than one there...He will happily give you a tour round..some lovely old cars, 1920's Vauxhall, baby Austin, 1930 Silver wraith.
I love it
Chris Harris could offer an interesting opinion on the car. Let him borrow the keys ha.
Owned and raced my 71 240Z for 26 years....til I totalled it ...😢
From which part of England this accent comes from? (same as Tom Hartley)
I can’t understand why nissan doesn’t come out with a retro z car like ford did with the mustang! They would sell a lot of them for sure!
share.icloud.com/photos/0lakWQhjuJ7CBhtCzEido35gw
Make it look like the one below and give it state of the art performance technologies. You’d have a perfect z car.
You can buy the new 400Z now.
What is that color called?
Ethan Nelson 60s UK bathroom green
Russian Basement*
Hahahaha @ Datsun owners spending USD$91k! Datsun owners are tighter than a fishs bumhole!
Lurcher260 lol they have a pretty established client base so far with cars living all worldwide
Lurcher260 : clubbies DO have an under-inflated appreciation of Z values (and I don't really know why....) but they also have the best notion of what it costs to restore one and therefore the best to ask for a Zs' worth (in adverts) when seen for sale. Are those little microphones🎤 under the hood??? Well damit they should be cuz that sound is like a fuckin six Cylinder Orchestra Symphon🎼🎵🎶
Ultimate? Hardly. 8 minutes of hot air and not a single shot of the underside....
Invincible Extremes Muscle Cars Garage shots of the underside? Not easy to shoot! Check the mzr website for details as these are immaculately built!!
The ultimate z rides on the wangan.
Not the ultimate but a very good build.
Yes, it deserved a longer video, specially some pics of the rebuild.
これはセンスが良いわ
G-nose FTW
Nah MCM has the most Ultimate 240Z
Brandon R not at all. There are so many better builds
Mine is.
I'm glad you asked...
No.
For the ultimate 240z check MIGHTY CAR MODS 240z RB26
With it's front bumper rubbers hanging off? Pleeeeese...
It's an entertaining series though.
Lurcher260 mate, it's finished.
It's on the road learn to look 4 new videos
My eyes work perfectly well - look at their latest video @ 00:56 seconds.
'Finished' eh...
Aussie bogans can't build cars.
Great car...hard to call it a 240 anymore though
the devil z is real
Castletown petrol station and a rate northern accent (Sheffield bloke ?)
Nice car.. mighty car mod has the ultimate 240
dream but there 60 -70k from mzr
No. because it's a 260z not a 240.
No vents near the "Z" badge.
What? It's not even a 240Z? Just another expensive restoration. At least he didn't throw on the fanboy fender mirrors.
No!

No such thing as a 240 zed.
Had a 76' 260z, I loved that car, until my sister crashed it
Needs 2jz with big single or compound turbo....mine will beat yours.....still beautiful car and like how no fender flairs....it a cream puff
There’s a lot of room in the engine compartment of the Z car. Drop in a Chevy V8 and you end up with a very nice car. Light weight, independent rear suspension and 50/50 weight distribution.
In my personal opinion the ultimate 240Z is bone stock all numbers matching early vin 1970 240Z
The steering wheel is on the wrong side! What a waste of a nice Z car.
Wrong side of the car on the wrong side of the road
