Skipped work to see that game, I got a chance to rush the court in 2009 I believe against VCU on ESPN. Ending was very similar and just an amazing atmosphere. They should've let them rush it adds to the game day experience and makes you wanting more and hoping every game is just as exciting. Remember this business is entertainment, have some freakin fun for crying out loud.
This was the best game I've seen in my entire life. I was at the game and the cocky VCU fans were already bragging about how they were the best in the CAA. It just goes to show...
i go to VCU and remember that game..it was crazy.. very nice shot! but my boys responded with a BLOWOUT at home and then another BLOWOUT in the tournament! so all is good! lol
only at gmu you cant rush the court at a game like that, GMU the same school that schedules homecoming games at 12 noon when its 30 degrees outside and has cops harass you during the tailgate, and has the fucking plain white tees come to mason day. if youre a prospective mason student i hope you see this comment
@cojsterling i can agree with you on that, but an at large is not a complete impossibility, the CAA is starting to make a name for itself, while i agree that an at large is nigh impossible, we won't know for sure until March. On the storming the court, i can see why the staff do it, but i don't necessarily agree with any reasons to stop storming the court other than safety ones.
@cojsterling if Mason gets the 1 seed then they would only face 1 (but still face Old Dominion who Mason didn't exactly steamroll), that's why I put the AND statement in there. A loss last night and the 1-seed hopes are all but done for. You're right that they should expect to play one or the other. I don't disagree that multiple championships should be on the way for Mason.
@dmbinns1 Sorry to tell you but the CAA is a 1 bid conference this year. The 3 best teams in the conference all have RPI's in the 80-99 range, and all of those teams have strength of schedules that rank in the 200's. 1 bid conference for sure.
@cojsterling sir, we are rivals with ODU and VCU, we don't actually compete against JMU that often. Also, VCU was not necessarily an inferior team, and if we had lost that game, we would have lost all hope of getting an At Large bid, plus calling that finish exiting is like calling a bomb going off a small thump. So, I am forced to respectfully disagree with your conclusions.
1:00, LET'S GOOOOOOOOO, LET'S GOOOOOOOOOO, VCU KICKED MY ASS AT THE STU ON 2/25 AND LETS NOT FORGET 32-4, AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH, LET'S GOOOOOOOOO, WE ARE STILL IN THE CAA WHILE VCU IS IN A BETTER CONFERENCE NOW, LET'S GOOOOOOOOOO, THE ONLY WAY WE CAN WIN IS IF WE TACKLE BRAD BURGESS BUT IT DIDN'T WORK, LET'S GOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! yeah, that right, let's go.....VCU THAT IS, NOT GMPOO!!!! oh and some fans that were at the semi final sold championship tickets thinking they would actually make it HA, FAIL!!!
@cojsterling it was improbable because VCU made 7/8 FT's and Mason hit 3 3 pointers in a span of 30 seconds after shooting 20% all game. GMU scored 11 points in 30 seconds after being held to 50 for 39:30. Usually those types of buzzer beaters are enabled due to the other team playing poorly, or missing FT's. This one wasn't. VCU is a hated rival, and you ripped their heart out. It's disrespectful to the team to say, "it's not worthy of a court-storming." That's bush league.
I talked to some VCU fans the day after the game and they say that shot was a fluke. I say STFU, take the loss like a man, Mason is better and will always be better than VCU! GREAT WIN MASON!!!! GMU WHAT!
So, this is apparently the best moment of GMU basketball since going to the NCAA Final Four in 2006.. That sucks for you all. Also, it looks like VCU and GMU hired the same web design company to design GMU.edu and VCU.edu; only VCU has a more approachable and professional look. Again, sucks you all. GO RAMS!
@cojsterling first off it's possible I've been following GMU basketball for longer than you have, and I would consider VCU a rival of GMU's. I know JMU is a rival with more history, but let's be real--all the VA schools are rivals. It's ok to have more than one. This game means that there's a distinct possibility Mason can avoid playing VCU AND Drexel during the postseason. That's huge if they want to make the dance.
@cojsterling don't act like GMU is some big name program. It's not. Let's just be honest. While you may be a fan for long enough for that to happen, the players will not be players for that length of time. They only get 4 years on the court. 5 with a redshirt. Storming the court is fun for them to be treated like kings. They all deserved to be carried off the floor.
@cojsterling Did you even watch the game sir. Mason was down by 2 with 3.8 seconds left. A 30ft three was sunk to give us the lead at the buzzer. I'd love to see another finish like that, but ain't gonna happen soon. 30ft jumpers are freakin hard to hit, so im sorry sir but i have to disagree with you again.
Saw this in a buzzer beater compilation and it instantly made me realize how much I miss the old CAA :(
i can't stop watching the first 45 seconds of this
Great game and shot!!!!!!

Epic, amazing. Wow. Sherrod is the man!!

@terrork08 It was Sherrod Wright, as stated in the video description
I wish we were aloud to storm the court! Insane Night!!!

Good game, Mason. But get ready next time against VCU on our home court.
@dante313 meant NCAA, however VCU will prob end up a 12 or a 13 seed so their best luck would be to play a slumping team or a team that lacks offense
GMU all day baby!!!!! All we do is win win win no mattter what!!!

They wack for not letting them rush the court

Anyone see the game last night?
Go mason!!! I'm a ballboy but not one of the fat ones
Mason! Greatest of luck in the NIT :)

@Bulldog22031 you're so intelligent man!
@strat0caster266 Ever as a Patriot Center usher, believe me I wanted to rush the court myself. I don't think I held back anyone.

ugh can't believe it
@strat0caster266 YES!!! Those fuckers pissed me off so much when my friends and I tried to rush
So, this is apparently the best moment of GMU basketball since going to the NCAA Final Four in 2006.. That sucks for you all. 2 people are VCU fans
@cenafan287 guess who's in the sweet 16 now?!?!?!!? VCU!

@strat0caster266 worked there last year I actually encouraged them to storm the court when they would put in me in front of the student section.
wow what I scoreboard!
my school

@aznflipper Oops. Guess you spoke too soon.
@1997cowboys1 at least students at VCU know the difference between then and than
@aznflipper You have to beat Indiana first to be in the sweet 16 genius. you're in the round of 32 right now.
@TheReal1KF hm? You mean the tournament they just won?
@strat0caster266 You're upset with the event staff because they didn't LET you STORM the court?! SMH
@aznflipper Guess who got eliminated in the NCAA tournament?!?!?! VCU did!!! I knew it VCU is SO OVERRATED!!!!!
