- An awesome little amp! It is great for recording, home practice, or small gigs! That is why it is the second one I've bought. If you'd like to skip me talking and just hear the amp, the demo starts around 3:15.

Hittin all the right notes. ☺️ beautiful playing!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
I bought this same amp used in mint condition, then promptly put a 12" speaker in it and WOW! I I've done major gigs with it for many years as my main amp. All of the sound engineers always complimented on my guitar sounds so it must be doing something right. Enjoy.
That is awesome! I had always wished they would have come out with a version with a 12" speaker. Like a Crush 50RT. Do you remember what speaker you were able to swap into it?
@@MrAustinMusic I put a Jensen special design 12" in it, but I also had to do some creative massaging to the cabinet to get it to fit. Lol. It's worth it to me.
@@MrAustinMusic orange makes a crush 60 solid state with a 12.
@@thomaspartin191 That is right! It is like the entry to their pro solid states. I remember trying one out a few years ago, but didn't think the amp was worth the extra cash for the headroom.
@@MrAustinMusic I understand.
The notes played/style was exactly what I needed to hear. Thanks!
Glad it helped!
Awesome amp. I noticed you said you replaced your old one due to a scratchy pot. If you spray deoxit (contact cleaner) in the potentiometer, it will usually clear that issue right up. It’s usually caused by dust buildup. Might possibly have saved you from buying an all new one.
I think I may have tried that. It has been quite some time. I know I needed money when I sold the first one I had too. The second one I ended up having to send to Orange within the first 90 days to have it fixed because it wasn't outputting. They did fix it though and it worked great. I don't have it anymore, but I love the Crush series. I have 12 right now, and have been toying with the idea of getting the 100, or another 35RT at some point!
I’ve owned every one in the series. The 20RT and super crush are fantastic.
@@MJPGuitar Dang! I'm jealous. Haha
I had thought about getting the 60 watt version. Actually went to a Guitar Center on January 1st 2020 to test it out. Somebody was going ham on bass and I couldn't get a feel for it. Ended up walking out with a PRS Acoustic which is still with me today.
I don't know why I haven't tried the 20RT. When I bought my first 12 and 35 I worked for Music & Arts which is a Guitar Center Company. So I got them discounted (I don't remember how much). I bought the 2nd 12C mainly to decorate my home office for while I teach online. I always thought the 20RT might be too small speaker wise, that is why I bought the 35. It has to be better than the 12 though, not that the 12 is bad for a small practice amp.
Did you have the Super Crush head and cab, or the combo?
Twooba nation ! & nice demo
Twooba has great videos! Haha Thanks for the comment.
twooba nation!!
Nice Amp. I have one myself and it sounds great!
They really are undervalued and fantastic! I can't recommend them enough
gotta love a twooba watcher
Haha I guess that's why we're the twooba nation.
Yeah, i really looked hard at them, but felt the pull of the Roland JC-40 more. Might thou for a small bedroom amp, i love the colour!
I still stand by this amp being great, but as someone who likes to experiment I’ve been trying out a Roland Blues Cube Hot recently. I definitely enjoy the bigger speaker, but the gain on the Orange was better. Not surprising considering that isn’t Roland’s target. Gotta gos with your gut, I don’t think either would be a wrong decision so long as you enjoy it!
Congrats, love my 35rt 👌🎶🎵
Thanks! Cheers mate!
Thinking of buying one a these suckers, well it's a toss up between this and the 60 pro....
Thanks 👍
@@erikpaterson1404 I highly recommend this! 60 pro is good but if you're not playing venues the headroom is unnecessary.
i absolutely love mine ! 🍊
Glad to hear it! Enjoy.
I have the crush 20rt and its really loud, the 35 is massive!!!
They're killer amps! They achieve great sound with old school wiring!
Twooba nation! Hahah Planning to buy one. Great review man🍻
Thank you! Still my favorite amp I had owned. Recommend it to everyone. Haha
Is this amp loud enough for small gigs or practicing with a drummer?
I have been playing acoustic guitar for a while and i am getting my first electric guitar and amp and i have been thinking of pairing this amp with the Nux mg300 multi effects unit since this amp doesn't have effects
Should i get this amp and the Nux mg300 or the boss katana 50?
Alright so the amp is loud enough for gigs if you plan to drive it with a drummer. The clean setting is a bit under powered for any setting with a drummer. That being said though I’ve used this for a venue of about 200 people without a drummer and it was fine clean.
I’m not familiar with the mix mg300 but I know this amo does great with any pedal or multi-fx unit I’ve used. So I’m sure that’s be a great combination.
Comparing this to my experience with the katana 50 I’d say power wise they’re pretty similar. Mainly because the orange is an old school solid state circuit and the katana is a hybrid digital circuit. If you’re looking to get the katana and forget the pedal unit I wouldn’t recommend it. When playing with a drummer or live being able to switch settings, channels, fx, etc needs to be quick sometimes and we can’t always run to the amp. The katana 100 has a compatible foot switch which I highly recommend. I don’t believe it works with the 50 though.
All in all I’d probably go for the Orange amp and the multi-fx unit. The orange I think is a better amp for a longer term because it is so simple you can really platform it for any sound.
Thanks for replying 🙂 this is great help
Your playing is very good and the video is so useful
Thanks
@@Moller759 thanks for the kind words. Good luck, let me know what you end up deciding. Very interested to see what works for you!
tuner is always on, weird but still best value/tone out there
That is weird. I never had that issue with either of the 2 I had owned. At least it doesn't bypass the signal when it is on, so other than some lights going crazy it doesn't make a difference. haha
Nice. I thought about getting the 20rt but I know I'll just wish I got the 35rt so I might be getting this bad boy tomorrow:)
Awesome! I hope you enjoy the amp. Either way you can't go wrong with them. It all depends on how much headroom you're looking for. I had the 12 watt model for my classroom it was great. The 35RT is what I used for performances and at home and it is also great! Let me know which you end up getting.
@@MrAustinMusic Haha good timing, literally just got home with it....got the 35RT
Wow!
@@peaner083 haha awesome. Enjoy the amp!
Got the 12 20 and 35,good choice
I've had all but the 20 and loved them! Cheers
Xbox and Orange... The heaven
No musician is complete without an Xbox in the rig.
Did you try the tuner?
Yeah, on both of the 35RT I had they worked well.
But can you play this in a 3 piece band without PA? I mean, in rehearsal context, will it be heard over acoustic drums and bass?
I've played it with a Bass player using a 50watt GK amp and there was no problem. I only used it once with an acoustic drumset and it had no issue. However I will note it was on the dirty channel. Since the clean doesn't get as loud it might have trouble with the volumes a drummer can get too, otherwise I don't think you'll have an issue rehearsing with this amp.
What he said is true. 35w on the clean channel is a bit low. The dirty channel is the true 35w. in a small room with a band this works.
I am getting this with a evh Wolfgang standard in 3 weeks
That is awesome! The EVH guitars are really good. The tension of a 4x2 headstock makes bends incredibly smooth, and the guitars have a harsh heavy pickup tone that when dialed back they clean up nicely. Let me know how you like it!
does footswitch pedal included? when buying 20rt or 35rt?
They don't come with a foot switch. That is considered an additional purchase.
No the foot pedal is 25 to 35 dollars
I love mine 🤘
I really want to get another, one but I'm not sure if I can justify buying a 3rd one. I have Crush a 12, but I mostly use Orange presets in Amplitube now.
Thinking about getting this or the fender champion 50xl. Don’t know which to choose🤷
Champions are nice. I don’t have experience with that model specifically. I use to sell the Champion 40s in the shop I worked in. They were sold little amps. I think the sound quality of the Orange is bigger and better for a crunch or lead tone while still sounding fat on the clean. The Fender did a lot better on the clean having a decent mid range. It also has built in effects which if that is something you’re interested in you should consider as the Orange only has reverb.
The orange 35rt without any doubt, i had the fender 50xl and for clean sounded decent. But when i put the amp on metal model amps it sounded like ass. It had a weird bassy, digital and muddy sound (i ended up selling that amp to buy a boss gt1).
The orange (my actual amp) in the other hand has a way more organic distortion, actual 3 band eq (fender has just bass and treble) and a fx loop.
Doesn't have integraded fx but tbh i prefer that to have mediocre distortion sounds
TOO MIDS VERSUS A 1998 FENDER FRONTMAN 25R
Oh yeah, but in fairness that’s Orange’s “thing” lots of mids. haha
If its easy to carry in motorcyle? (Im not the driver)
It weighs about 20 pounds. I wouldn't say it is impossible, but as a rider myself I wouldn't do it unless it was strapped to the bike so it wouldn't move. Any shift in weight can throw off a rider, 20lbs can be significant if not transported correctly.
Do you believe this could compete with a 120 watt amp?
I don’t think so. I’d say this is comparable to a 15-20 watt tube amp, but the old school solid state circuitry compared to a newer digital amp modeler I’d say this probably does about as well as a 50 watt (like the Katana) it maybe could keep up with a 75 watt digital amp. I used this amp at an indoor venue with about 200 people with no issues. Hope this helps!
What’s the comparison between this and the Marshall MG series
It has been a while since I tried an MG but I know that this is old school solid state wiring. So there isn’t any built in effects or digital sounds. It is just the amp the way it should be. Closer to the warmth and feel of a tube amp. This also makes the orange a good platform for pedals, while the Marshall works with pedals a lot of the time a digitally enhanced amp tends to breakup or give annoying feedback when you use a pedal.
@@MrAustinMusic yeah and this amp has a nice reverb in it too.
@@Disabledguitarist1985 definitely! The things I looked for when getting this amo was, built in reverb, handles pedals well, and effects loop.
I might get it on my birthday
Also the clean channel almost made me cry
It is a fantastic amp. Beautiful clean channel. A lot of these solid states usually lack the punch in a clean channel but not this one. If you do end up getting one let me know!

@@MrAustinMusic will do
Hey Jeremy! Just wanted to see if you were able to snag one of these amps, and what your thoughts are?
For metal do I get this or a Boss Katana?
If you're looking for a really good high gain amp in that price range the Katana is a bit more versatile. I don't prefer the sound of the Katana (it sounds good I just don't like it over the Orange), but it will get you a much more chuga chuga tone.
@@MrAustinMusic Which one gets more chug? The Boss or Orange?
@@nu-agegamer3548 The Boss. It has a higher gain capability. Sorry for bad syntax in the last message. haha
@@MrAustinMusic Not to mention if you want modern metal all you gotta do is plug it in the computer and start modifying
Yeah, it is definitely a more modern and well featured amp. One of the reasons I love the Orange is the old school solid state circuits just sound better to my ear. If I need something to be an all rounder though Katana all day. I have recommended it to many of my students and sold a lot of them when I worked in music retail.
How much does it weigh? I’m sick of lugging amps. 😎
I had to send it back for a repair (still a great amp and recommend it). It was about 30lbs.
@@MrAustinMusic what kind of repair? I just ordered the 35rt and now I’m nervous 😬
@@BjarkiHugrakkr nothing major, and it was covered under the 1 year limited warranty by orange. Essentially the amp started only outputting via headphones but not the speaker. However my first one never had any issues and orange fixed this one and sent it back to me within 2 weeks.
I'm thinking about getting this or the Line 6 30.
I have had a couple line 6 15s and played through the 100 watt half stack. They’re good amps. They have a lot more features. However that being said imo the sound quality of a line 6 is less than that of the orange. So you have to balance, do you want the effects and features, or the better sound quality? If you’re thinking of eventually getting pedals go for the orange. If not I think the line 6 is for you.
This bad boy have a master volume for disgusting filthy distortion tones at low volume or do I have to blow out my children's ears to get sludgy?
Each channel has a dedicated volume but the dirty channel has a gain knob. I can play at bedroom volumes and have a sick amount of gain.
@@MrAustinMusic awesome, thanks
I would have bought this Amp if I wasn't allergic to the color orange, but of course they don't think about their customers like that
Haha I was off put by the orange color at first, but eventually I got over it. Did a lot of research before buying the first one and just couldn't find anything I liked better at the price point. They do make a black one actually, however they are typically sold out. Here is the amazon link if you're interested: amzn.to/2VY4Og9
@@MrAustinMusic it's so funny I love the color black and I have a black shecter and was looking for a new Amp because I had a basic line 6 since I was new at the time of purchasing it hahaha. I just bought this one online last night after watching this video because in all seriousness I actually do kind of dig the orange and the black model sort of looks off hahaha. Thanks for helping me with my decision to purchase a kick-ass Amp!
Of course. Enjoy the amp!
Why does it say London England on the box when these are made in Cheana? F my life.
Orange is based and designed in London England. Their higher end stuff is made there, but their entry level things are made in the far east. Just like fender is an American company based in California but has a factory in Mexico, and Japan. The guitar was for all intensive purposes designed by the American company, but it is built in one of the other factories for a MIM or MIJ.
@@MrAustinMusic Thanks the for the reply. Very much appreciated., Is this Orange Crush 35 RT made in England or Cheana? If i grab something from the store today is it England made or Chionea made?
