That is correct about the led bulbs. I did my Van about 6 months ago...looks totally different. However my driver side head light hangs out just alittle bit.. does yours do that too?
Just did a subset of this on my 2007 Express Passenger Van. My paint was classic Chevrolet 'peeling off' in paper sheet chunks and I really wanted to do a better than average 'repaint' using Rustoleum, hardener, and a Harbor Freight $20 paint gun. And... since I was going to be removing the bumpers and a few other parts as part of the job decided to upgrade to the composite lights as a finale! It looks fantastic!
You don’t have to remove ac line just drill out rivets on top crossmember, then make a cut to slide the ac line out and do in reverse to to install new… did this to replace my engine and save money on not doing ac work🎉

I was thinking of doing the opposite conversion - going from composite lights to sealed beam so that I can put some 5x7 JW speaker LED lights in. Would this be do-able with a new grille suited for the sealed beams?
Do you have one where I switch back to the ugly workhorse headlights? I prefer the glass, cheap, easy to replace version, especially because headlight assemblies aren’t made of glass anymore like my Honda Accord Glass don’t fog up like plastic, and I can get a brighter beam by customizing a relay system, heck some aftermarket H6054 LEDs have “Glass” lenses.
No. While some cars are a bear to replace bulbs on, usually because of limited access, these are not. 30 second bulb changes. Much faster than sealed beam. Enhanced looks, mileage and lighting to boot.
@@karltruty3469 Guess I better start planning a video where I customize a headlight conversion going from gross yellowing plastic headlights to crystal clear glass headlights... with LEDs. It'll take a while, but I'll get there.
Legit HIDs do still get HOT. Typically most kits are converting either 35 or 55 watts of electricity into light, and heat. Still less than the original halogen bulbs that are more like 70-100 watts. But they stlll would be hotter than you would want to touch

Time to get rid of that dim 14" CRT monitor! lol! We did use lights to illuminate the subject matter though. Seems pretty easy to see IMO, but we'll keep that in mind.
I have a 12 Express 2500 Cargo Van.... I wouldn't mind upgrading my headlights to one piece lights..... I don't mind my painted painted bumper.... I do like chrome bumper's..... I wouldn't have wrapped that bumper white...... I think the next thing you do is clean up that Rusty frame with Por-15.....

I know it's a year old, but this is so helpful man! I'm going to do my van in the next couple of weeks. the sealed beam lights are so weak and yes, fugly. I'm going to wrap the bumper too, and anticipate the same battery/HID upgrades haha!
@@karltruty3469 Mine worked out great! I initially had terrible ground loop interference with the stereo, but switched to higher end LED bulbs and it solved the problem. I also ended up spraying the bumper with Raptor liner instead of wrapping it. Thanks again for the tutorial.
I have a 2004 Chevy Express van 2500 I like the grill and lights swap to the nicer lights where can I get all this to do the conversion of mine. It has the grill and lights that you show at beginning of video. I don't really like them.
The front end is a little different on those, but it's still basically the same van underneath. so I'm sure you could update to the 96-02 composite style fairly easily. As far as to update it to the 03-present front end, prob would need hood/fenders/core support as well as the lights

The DRLs on my truck are the running lights (turn signals), so the headlight harness did not effect that operation in any way.
Did you wrap the grille emblem also? Or buy it? If bought , where’d ya get it?

It should be like 3 tab connectors. You plug those into the vehicles headlight plug
