Peavey Butcher FX Loop Install - Tone Demo

- Another PEAVEY BUTCHER came in for service and a modification request. I recapped the amp, performed the adjustable bias modification and installed a Metro Amp Zero Loss FX Loop. Another common procedure is to update the output jack section to modern standards.
Scrub towards the end of the video to hear the results.
The Zero Loss FX Loops are my favorite loops to install. They are tonally transparent when engaged and they can be installed without affecting the sound of the amp whether on or off. To make room for this one we had to rotate the output transformer 90 degrees. This was a fun and easy install. I hope you find it entertaining and informative.
Love watching your videos sir!
Love my Butcher, and always looking forward to a video of yours
Sounds killer. Awesome job. Definitely going keep my eyes open for a butcher.
Seems like a touch...... A touch too much. Thanks for sharing. Good work man!
Glad to see you back. Keep the videos coming!
Sounds killer
The king... has returned. 😄
Glad your back from Antarctica. Been waiting forever for another video
Another fantastic video. Amp sounds fantastic
I never heard of this amp
But it sounds awesome
i like the double intro
Whoops!
@@purgasound leave it in though, it’s perfect
It's reassuring that someone else noticed. Otherwise I thought I'm just losing my mind! I really enjoy these videos. Mad love from London, England.
Sweet work, respect!
I hear the gromster, nice.
Does anyone else think that most amps sound a little better biased just a smidge less than 70% of max? I typically like to bias at 68%, and I swear it seems a bit clearer.
How many preamp tubes do The Butchers have?
Cool video! I own a used vtm60 and everything was fine (new 6l6) but when connecting my tc elec g force in the eff loop there is a lot of noise even with the pure cables connected, would you be so kind and think what could be the causes? Regards
Thinking if picking up a butcher and would love to get the loop - where are you located?
My shop is about an hour west of Richmond, VA. I would be happy to revamp another Butcher. I have another one coming up soon that I'll be doing full service on. These are great amps and with a single component change the front end can be an exact copy of the JCM800 preamp.
Do you have a recommendation for brand of tubes? Its time for new tubes in mine I think as the gain and volume seemed to have decreased.
@@thecainer64 I use whatever is affordable. The price of different brands doesn't reflect quality or tonal improvement. I've had every major brand fail right out of the box so I don't believe any one is better than the other. Best advice is to buy from a vendor that has a warranty and stay away from no-name small time seller rebrands.
@@purgasound do you absolutely have to have matched sets?
I have the same amp with some slight mod. I have a 22k knob replacing the 10k presence knob for tighter, darker and less fizzy tones. I was wondering if i was obligated to do the bias mod to be able to run the fx loop mod or can i just install it without it?
Awesome. Are the newer peavey butchers like these older ones that are the good ones, or are they new poop like all other new poop.
I have not seen the new Butcher amp in person nor have I seen any schematics of them either. I would imagine the only similarity is going to be the name.
not the same other than name
is it possible to do this on a line 6 spider 3 amp
what year were these made?
I believe 1986.
1981-1986.
