    Just wanted to add, I’ve pretty much eliminated the issue with the battery cover with the adjustment screws. Seems it wasn’t done well at the factory, but I’ve not had the same issues since adjusting it. ALSO, to add some feedback on my commentary on VALUE, I truly believe that at £5k for a carbon ebike with the new Bosch Smart, 750 Battery, Zeb 170mm Fork, decent 12 speed drivetrain from Shimano mix of Deore, XT etc, good Shimano 4 piston brakes, good tyres out the box, good finishing kit, actual local bike shop support and warranty, then yes, its GREAT value!

    • @RobRidesEMTB
      @RobRidesEMTB  2 роки тому +2

      @Neil Morgan Yes, it made a big difference to how its held onto the bike downtube - Its now made a good seal and looks and fits just how you'd expect it to (secure!) No, noise is still there - its from the Bosch motor, and perhaps some cable rattle in the frame too.

      I've been riding the bike for a while and I can confirm your impression - it's a great bike.
      Minor issues: The battery cover is junk, I also had to adjust and fix the rubber cover over the latch button. The Acros headset has a block at the bottom at 120°, but there is another crown at 150°, that's a big improvement. Attaching a Monkey Link to the Cub stem was also a bit tricky, the handlebar holder unfortunately grabs the wrong side, where the display is already located and that can't be changed either. I glued the cable for the rear light to the frame, unfortunately there is no internal duct. The Bosch software is still missing a dashboard and a navigation function on the Kiox, the felt 200 Numbers there are really superfluous. Such a huge display just for the speedometer, what a joke. And the holder of the Kiox300 is really too fat, it could be 5 mm thick and lead the cables out at the front, then you could glue it to the top tube with silicone. The LED Remote would need a different rocker so that we can find an edge with the thumb, without looking.
      Nice work Rob and set Rainer Jeske (Bosch) with questions on fire, when you see him some time ;)

    Another great review Rob and a very fair assessment of one of the best value EMTBs currently available. I am a bit biased being on my 4th Cube EMTB - currently riding a 2022 140 TM which for an extra £500 is even better value for money imo.
    The battery cover on the 2022 bike is better than the 2021 version which had the screw fitting at the top rather than the bottom. This results in a far better seal - on the previous bike crud used to get in round the battery terminals and needed sealing with tape to prevent buildup. . Had to adjust mine very slightly, about half a turn, otherwise fits perfectly.
    Asked my supplying dealer to fit a 36T main chainring - this threw up an error code on the Bosch Kiox which my LBS was unable to clear. Eventually Bosch sent a replacement motor and reverted to a 34T. Changing the chainring on previous Bosch Gen 4 motors (pre smart system) has never caused an issue, but appears to be a Cube/Bosch issue on current 750 battery Cubes. Bosch customer service excellent, Cube less helpful.
    Great Maxxis tyres with loads of grip, but after 2 months and 400 miles not a lot if life left in the rear. Will have to replace with a harder compound!

    I have this bike, ridden it a few times so far, pretty hard. The clunking noise is there but not as loud as this review, maybe that will get worse with time but its pretty soft atm. My battery cover fits nice and snug. I quite like it, it's protective and looks reasonably priced to replace should that ever happen. Acts like a bit of a mud guard too. Overall I love the bike, I like how it looks and how it rides. The carbon frame makes it feel playful up top with all the weight lower down, it just rolls over rocks and roots despite the smaller wheels it's not difficult to keep up with 29ers on the trails. Biggest let down is the UK speed restriction but that can't be helped. It's an incredible machine, can't wait to ride it again.

    I'm 6 months in on my 140 Race. Similar spec but 29", 140 travel and the older Kiox. Upgraded the fork to a 160 Domain and planning on a Bomber CR with Cane Creek progressive spring out back. All in it'll stand me at around £5k. It's a tad heavy but I love it. I think the Cubes are superb vfm.

    Great review Rob. And its definately a nice bike for the money. Its kinda in the same bracket as my £4300 Haibike 3.0 (Bosch 625wh) and I have to say, to get a set of Zebs, carbon frame and 750wh battery for an extra £700 isnt bad at all. The only issue I have is that awful battery cover. I know you said you improved it but the one on my 3.0 is super snug and sealed. Other than that I'm with you, this Cube is a great all round emtb. FWIW, I'm actually considering swopping out my 29" front for a 27.5 as the 3.0 is definately less 'snappy' than my old 27.5" Trances.

    Rob, great review as always. I bought my partner, Joan, the small size predecessor of this bike early in 2020. She loves it which is great. However, as you have pointed out on this new model, the battery cover is poor. Hers is obviously shorter than the 750W version that you have but nonetheless it’s a weak point carried over and worsened by the additional length. I really hate the popper button to detach and attach. It’s very flimsy. I washed her bike (ok, I got it dirty) and even gentle low pressure hosing allows water in along with mud/grit etc. That all said, I’m using it in Slovenia right now and it’s perfect for my needs in the mountains where we are staying. The new version looks like a major improvement, just a pity about the battery cover. One last thing: it’s utterly rattle free, unlike my Trek Rail 9………

    Respect Cube. Much more consumer-friendly pricing than those mass brands that charge a fortune due to the name on the downtube(Trek & Giant). Prefer Cube offer a couple Aluminum framed 140 models. A recent carbon Rail ride, proved that as the frame fractured at the seattube/toptube junction, and the headtube had noticeable hairline fractures. My only complaint is that damn battery. Li-Ion batts, are not environmentally friendly. Landfills of them are polluting groundwater in South America & Africa(But who cares about that land?). And I've had a couple after Winter 2021-22, have a meltdown, when recharging. Very expensive to replace, though most that can shell-out a few grand for a bike have no concern. There exists safer...better, conserving batteries, that are lighter in weight. Yet bike companies seem fixated on Li-Ion. When they do offer new batteries, they'll probably rip-us-off, stating we need to also buy a entirely new motor, to complement the battery. Right? Right.

A bike with 170/160 travel that is not allowed to do jumps/drops higher than 50cm and "no riding on one wheel neither front or rear, no braking that causes the rear wheel to lift up" seems like a no-go for me.

      Hi Martin. I’ve read about this. And there are other bikes that also state similar guidelines (Kenevo / Levo / Rail - all have similar or slightly higher categories!). Great platform, absolutely enjoying mine, however I just really would like if cube would release technical specs like every other bike manufacturer around bolt Torque specs with detailed views, more so around those bloody 6 x T40 plus motor mount bolts. One can only hope....😁 maybe Rob can obtain those Torque figures.....

    A Hybrid 160 for £4,999 is a tempting proposition indeed. I still have my 2021 Hybrid 140 HPC. I love the design of the 2021 Cube Stereos better than the 2022 Cubes. And since looks are one of the most crucial factors as to whether I decide to buy a bike or not, I will unfortunately not be upgrading to any 2022 Cube Stereo Hybrid. Ever since their launch, the look/design of the 2022 Stereos has failed to get my heart racing. I don't really like the way they look at all (which also is exactly why I'm not a fan of the Specialized Levos). This year I'll be going back to Haibike, which was my choice brand in 2017/2018/2019. I'm already currently waiting for my 2022 AllMtn 10, although the March 2023 delivery estimate is going to really test my patience tolerance 😡But I'll patiently wait. It's an exciting bike, with great looks and great components for the £5,999 asking price.
