I don't understand, for even a 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th generation of Japanese people named "Koji", Korean "Heon", Indian "Alok", Latino "Juan" (well this is a little bit different), Arabic "Ali", and Chinese (having to be) "Joshua"?? Yes I do have an English name, but it is only used as a 'nickname' when people cannot pronounce my Chinese name right - a ture story when I was a student in the US is, one of my professors tried to pronounce my name (in various funny ways) for a couple of meetings, then gave up and called me Z instead. I intentionally chose my English name to make sure it sounds similar to my real, legal name. I still remember right before my commencement the secretary of the president wrote to me to confirm how to pronouce my name, and called me to learn the pronuciation. I told her "you can let him call me Theo so it will be much easier". yet she insisted using my Chinese name. When I was hearing the president made his every effort to call my name in his best way on the commencement, I felt honored and proud
