      Nice van for a solo traveller. I hope you have lots of great adventures in it. One thing that worried me was your camp stove, which presumably runs off propane? If you havent already done so, you should put the propane bottle(s) in a cabinet with a vent to the outside. You should also have a gas detector mounted down low if you use propane, plus a fire extinguisher, given that you have fabric and bedding right by the naked flames. Well done on what you've achieved so far.

    Your van is really cute, but I've been doing this for a few years and noticed a few things that I would think about. First of all you have a 20 gallon water tank. That's 160 lb of water if full. Good thing that it's over the wheel well from what I can tell but you also have your battery sitting right next to it. Even with the battery in a box I wouldn't put my electrical night next to my water tank. Also, what is the weight of your battery? That's a lot of weight all on one side of your van. Watch your tires for wear. also, I bought a little handheld shower deal when I first started that pump 2 gallons per minute and I didn't realize it and I went through a 5-gallon bucket of water before I could get my whole body showered off! Lol what is the flow on your shower head? You have lots of water which is good but just be aware of that. Last thing, watch all those curtains and your bedding because of where you got your stove placed. But other than that it looks great. Have been in a minivan for the past 2 and 1/2 years and just upgraded it. Love the layout of your van. Happy road tripping!

      I can send you some fabric pens to color the tapestry on rainy days. If you decide to repurpose the back curtains, they would be beautiful covering the side of the sink and possibly the side of the bed. Have you thought of a magnetic window covering for the back? Love your clean yet cozy build! I'm stealing some ideas but buying a journal. Maybe you can cook up a planning journal for us vanlife dreamers.

    Hi Tia! From one Vaner to another, you may want to work on your blackout techniques for the windows and your curtains, like allowing the material to overlap about an inch of every side of a window, and maybe even thicken up the material layers to make it more opaque. Also have your keys panic alarm ready in case someone tries to get into the van, you can hit the panic and they will run off.. reset it and they will never know you were in there.

    • @Debrajoy
      @Debrajoy 2 роки тому +2

      Absolutely on the curtains! There's a company called heat shield and they will make them specifically for your van and they are awesome I paid about $175 for mine Best purchase I ever made! I have a 2003 Honda Odyssey that I have also lived in!

    Great Job on your Van! I'm trying to do the same thing and just found a 2005 Grand Caravan with 91,000 miles for $4500.00. It drives like a dream. If I do this, My family (Borthers & Sisters) aren't going to be supportive at all and they're totally against it. I live in a studio right now and have been for 8 years. I'm on a disability check but it's SSD and not SSI which I had enough working credits for that so it's the same as being retired really. I am so ready to do this that I've already bought some necessities for a Van. I almost have everything I need except for Solar, Inverter, refrigerator. I need to do this now for myself besides just wanting to before my health gets any worse. I won't ever forgive myself if I don't do it. I mean, I will be living full time in the Van I get because I can't afford both or an apartment too. My Studio takes about everything I have so I haven't had a vehicle in awhile. I feel like a caged animal over here that would do not anything but definitely the Van Life so pray for me that this will work out because I'm not good if it doesn't. ANYWAY Have fun and maybe we will cross paths one day.

Great set up, but in these times of Covid 19 u might want to get a small porta potty. That way you don't have to use a public restroom. Happy travels great build, very frugal.

    Thinking back you could have spent less than 2k on mechanical maintenance/upgrades and kept this nice van for many more miles, as long as the engine and trans were good. 4 new wheel bearings, new brake pads/rotors/master cylinder/brake booster, 4 new tires, new radiator, complete engine tune up and new trans fluid/filter. The thing about aerostars is that the last made was in 1997 so certain body & interior parts are hars to find these days. But mechanically...it's mostly Ford everyday stuff.

    A _camper_ is the person that is camping, not the vehicle, nor trailer. You converted the minivan into a liveable minivan. I like the minivan and your conversion.

    Lovely van. The only thing l would add would be a 'sideboard' from beside the stove to opposite the bed. Probably put the battery in the base, as others have said. Food prep surface beside the stove and more storage space opposite the bed.
