Thankyou for the wonderful vlog, you have assisted us as first timers so will be following your list to the tee. First time going on a cruise in October.
I think you guys are so underrated, deserve more subscribers and views. I am on Carnival Splendor right now, and I found your videos super helpful. This is my second time cruising , first one is with Luminosa.
Hi Terry. Thank you so much for your comments and support. Haven't been on Splendor yet but we are looking for the right time, itinerary and cost but we will cruise on her.
Great advice on printing documents off as well as having soft copies. We got caught boarding our last cruise where we couldn't access our online documents but I'd printed everything off and had a folder with it all in there and it saved us so much time. Just found your channel and absolutely loving it!!! Keep up the great work, we are also in Brissy and have a couple of cruises booked for the next 6 months but haven't got any the same as yours, we hop onto Pacific Encounter on the cruise after your comedy cruise. Hopefully we'll see you on a cruise in the future. All the best :)
Hi Susan, we are thinking about the comedy cruise in October. As we both work and have pretty much used up all leave we need to look for weekend cruises at the moment so that we aren't taking too much time off work. Enjoy the South Pacific cruise, we love that itinerary.
#NEWSUBBY...Hi Rob and Alley! Thanks for sharing this info it was very helpful...Ive been binge watching all your vlogs hyping myself up for my first ever cruise up to Cairns from Sydney on the Ovation of the sea in Jan and I'm so excited!..specially relaxing in the solarium with a nice cocktail looking out to sea.🥳🤩🍹👏
Hi and apologies for the delay in replying. We love going to Cairns and have done a few land based holidays there but it can be pretty steamy in January. Whilst we haven't been on Ovation it is essentially the same as Quantum and we're sure that you will have a fantastic time. There is so much to do on the ship.
Thank you so much for this video! How soon before the cruise date do P&O allow you to book your boarding time and print out boarding passes and luggage tags? 😊
Very useful vlog. Can I suggest another?? Maybe one for working out taking money to each diff island/ country or stop where there can be so many different currency’s?? 34 days till my next cruise!!
Hi Niuean. Thanks for watching. That's a really interesting idea for a video. We'll research that to see if it is one that will work. Thanks for the support and the suggestion.
@@robandalicruisetravel Just one thing in Noumea ,lifou and Mare do you pay for souvenirs and food etc. in Francs and is this currency available to be purchased on board the ship.
Hi Maggie. Sorry for the delay in replying. We haven't been to Mare yet, but we have been to Noumea and Lifou. In Noumea it depends where you go. Noumea is a City so if you go to the bigger shops you will need CP Francs or you could use a debit/credit card. Thew smaller souvenir stalls, such as at the terminal (not the industrial one) will take AUD. On Lifou you should be fine with AUD as it is just a small tourist island and pretty much everyone takes either. The ship usually has some but if you are leaving from Brisbane consider Crown currency at Aspley. You purchase over the phone at a good rate and they have a desk set up at the terminal to pick up your currency. We used them for our recent PNG trip and they were excellent. They will also be there when you return to buy back but we have heard that buy back rates are not great, as with anywhere, so maybe only get what you think you might need or just take AUD and if you want to buy from the bigger shops in Noumea use a debit or credit card. Hope this helps
My last cruise was on Royal Caribbean. I don’t understand why they even bothered with the staggered embarkation .It worked on my P&O trip as they enforced the staggered embarkation but the RCC every just boarded when they wanted to. Even though we were allocated a certain time slot. We overheard others saying that they had a late afternoon boarding time but they weren’t checking and they embarked and checked in with everyone else. This meant we had long waits to get through check in and on the ship of more than 2.5 hours. We were supposed to embark at 1230pm - we turned up at 12pm finally got on at 3:30pm. Felt like there was no air conditioning in the terminal and with the body heat I swear it was at least 10 degrees warmer in the terminal than outside which was 35 degrees. I was wringing wet when I got on the ship. We had to do our health declaration in the terminal as they failed to send the email link so that delayed us also. Not that the ship was leaving without us. It was late leaving port as well. P & O in my opinion had the better and easier embarkation- 20 mins from arrival to getting on board and sitting down - we also were able to get in our rooms early. Disembarking the P&O was way better organised than the Royal Caribbean. We got called but had to stand in line for over 2 hours on the deck to get off. P&O called our numbers we immediately walked off of the ship no fuss or bother.
Hi Kim. Apart from people not doing the right thing, the problem with Royal Caribbean in Australia is that they are so big. They take twice as many passengers but they only have the same number of check-in desks etc. We had the same problem getting off the ship at Port Vila because there were only the tender boats to get nearly 5,000 people off the ship. Don't get me wrong, we love the RC ships as well but Australia is just not geared to handle that many passengers at the moment.
hello, just in regards to printing off luggage tags boarding passes etch, do you normally just have paper tags from printer, wouldn't they rip, or do you have something more sturdier, thansk
Hi Sharon. The paper tags come off the printer on a A4 sheet which is folded into 3 and them fed through the handle and stapled a couple of times. They are pretty sturdy and we have never had one come off. All they really do is go from baggage drop off to your cabin anyway.
Hi Bindi. Absolutely agree. I (Rob) actually work in that industry and have seen/approved cases with costs of $1M+ for travellers. Not worth the risk for the sake of the cost of a premium.

Is there a particular insurance company that you find the best for cruise travel insurance?
What's your next expectations for the cruise into Alotau?
