SAT Writing + Language / ACT English - The Ultimate Walkthrough
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 кві 2019
- If you want a high SAT Writing + Language or ACT English score, you need to know all the most important grammar rules of the English language - but, MORE importantly - you also need to know how to APPLY those rules to these tests! If you have the right grammar, but you don't know the strategies and tactics, you'll often fall for tricks and run out of time. Conversely, even if you DON'T know every grammar rule, you can often find the right answer simply by following proper strategy!
The following video is a full walkthrough of my ENTIRE process for the SAT Writing + Language section - and because the New SAT is basically a carbon copy of the ACT, you can use these strategies for both tests with only minor alterations. This material used to be reserved exclusively for my private coaching students, but because I'm in a Santa-esque mood, I decided to share it with you all!
I'm taking the SAT tomorrow, may your knowledge of grammars be vested in my power.

I love your way of explaining man, keep it up
Pro tip: something that helped me with the 43rd question which I initially found to be a little tricky is to read the start of the sentence with "The fact that.....", this will pretty much work with every question involving a sentence that starts with "that", I read through some forums and starting with "that" is way more common in American English than British, being a speaker of the latter, I was confused and this tip helped, I hope it helps you as well
thank you i was super confused
Just took the MCAT and I'm coming back to reminisce about the good old days when passages actually made sense and the problems aren't impossible.
Is it worth it? Down the medical road.
@@1reptile121 wish he responded lol
@Bryan W nah lol I’m a senior in high school I had a lot of thoughts into going for pre med but it just takes so long + I’m just more interested and better at comms sci
@@1reptile121 I actually just finished my sem of med school....and I gotta say that’s a very loaded question. Medical school is hard. Like really really hard. I’m sure you already knew that but it really does take you by surprise. After going through what I did this semester I would never actively encourage anyone to go down this path unless they 100p are in it for the right reasons.

Love this so much. You make everything seem like a piece of cake!
I'm watching this 2 years ago and it's so helpful ❤️🌟
This really helped my understanding on how to actually prove the correct answer logically and not relying on just my intuition/opinion on which "sounds" better. Im more confident in the grammar section than the math one. And i find that one very easy
UPDATE: got a 570 on the writing :DDDD but i forgot my calculator so i got a 470 on the math :/ i basically got the same score as last time.
@Mr. Hash 🤞🏻 1040*
did the same tips help apply to reading?
I can’t thank you enough for your video, it helped me a lot understanding tricky grammar rules especially as a non native English speaker.

Realized questions 32, 33, and 34 35 are all no change which is rare having back to back to back to back. It was more surprising that it was all no change than a quadruple letter. Love the walkthrough- no.43 was the only confusing one.
im pretty sure its which becasue its non essential but I guess im wrong
It's confusing because the subject, an idea/concept, is implied. [the idea](that these skills are transferable)[makes][them beneficial](to students) ...
[the idea makes them beneficial].
Sentences should always have subjects and verbs. If we kept "which" (which signals an incoming unnecessary clause), then we would have no verb in the main clause. It's just that identifying the main clause is complicated, because of the implied subject.
Sorry about English
I’m taking the sat tomorrow pray for me 🙏🙏🙏see you guys when I pass 🤭✌️

@@stephanienwonwu9701 not sure if you still need it but Khan academy is pretty good for math practice, for writing..ehh, I don't really know but guides on YT can provide some good tips. Btw are you taking sat tmr?
@@stephanienwonwu9701 khan is great, I got a 1400 recently without studying, but I'm gonna shoot for a 1500, khan gives you score reports. I'd recommend studying on youtube, then once you feel confident and comfortable you should do one of khan's 10 practice tests, keep repeating this until you get the score you want, then once you get that score, achieve it again, then you should be good.

Redundancy is not an error, or more precisely, redundancy is not always an error, and that applies to more than just in engineering. Redundancy may not be the "soul of wit", but it has its uses in emphasis, security (as in, for example, explaining how security is related to redundancy), and structure (e.g. in order to form an iambic pentametre).
this is perfect thank you

You’ll do great!!!
@@davinamalcolm1677 Just did it and the reading section was crazy hard! Im planning on taking it again soon.
It's funny how the 35th question contradicted to what was said in that sentence, specifically the last part said "discipline encourages to express thoughts in a concise manner", which just means to express thoughts in a brief way but still understanding everything. And the option were just increasing the amount of words to fill in the blank

This is going to get buried, but you use a semicolon when the two thoughts are relevant to each other and they both are complete sentences such as “The ball is orange; the ball is round.” What he did was a comma
neither of those sentences is complete lol. A complete sentence must contain at least 1 verb. Good try though
@@LCProductionsmilkcarton is is a verb, a conjugation of "to be"
"The ball is orange; the ball is round" isn't wrong, but remember: Redundancy is always wrong in the SAT. There will probably an answer shorter and thus could be stronger/better.
@@buk5964 didn't say it was the right answer, just a grammatically correct sentence
