@@tsillie9555 For the reading passages read them thoroughly and really pay attention. After you finish each paragraph ask your self, "what did I just read", and recap what you read in your brain. If you do this the questions should be very easy and should take no longer tha 40 seconds each. For grammer just do ALOT of practice sections. The kind of questions aked in the grammer section often repeat them selfs from test to test. Once you know them well you will be able to identify that type of question and the best way to answer it.

    @earliertripod4534 3 роки тому +3466

    Notes:
-All the information you’ll need will be on the test, whether it’s in the passage or the little introduction brief
-Before reading the passage, skim the questions to see if there’re any summary/theme questions, and take note of the vocab words
-Remember to read the title/little introduction
-For vocab questions, read the whole sentence, plus maybe the sentences before and after for context. Then substitute in each answer
-Know what certain terms are (7:04)
    For two-part questions:
-Look at the second part and highlight all the quotes in the passage
-Then read the first question (only the question) and try to see which quote answers every part of the question
-Compare the quote to the first question’s answers
    For the literature passage:
-Try to be engaged/to have fun
    -Read challenging books beforehand
    For the debate passages:
-Read the first passage and answer all the passage-1-specific questions while it’s still fresh in your mind
    -Repeat for passage 2
-Especially for the Science-based passages, don’t infer anything. Use the passage/graphs to back up each answer

He stated that we were, "right around the corner" to the real-life world. He wasn't wrong. He gave each of us a note and wrote what we wanted to improve and work on. Then right before I had realized... I became a sophomore, practically a Junior since school ends on May 24th for me and the SAT is also practically right around the corner.

i completely agree with the "reading in your free time" tip-i also wanted to add that if you're reading to prep for the SATs, it's a good idea to read a wide range of literature from a while back. collegeboard typically doesn't use a ton of contemporary literature so make sure you're familiar with the way that older authors write (e.g., dickens, twain, emerson, dumas, brontë, etc.). it's also a good idea to read some translated foreign literature (spanish, french, and immigrant authors especially) as collegeboard sometimes likes to include those passages as well!

Currently waiting on my SAT score (delayed), but decided to watch some tips anyways haha. I think it was great that you mentioned bubbling in answers because it seems like something no one really mentions. For me, I like bubbling in answers after answering every passage since it allows me to reset my mind for the next passage. Of course, if I get stuck I move on to the next question or bubble in answers I am confident I am correct about. Another tip I saw that I use and hope that others use as well is that you don't need to read fast. I do my best to take my time to understand the passage rather than skimming through and hoping that I remember key information for the questions. It also helps me personally since I don't annotate and I won't need to considering I have a rough idea of where different information is to answer the questions. Of course, this boils down to how you best absorb the information. A tip if you have time before your SAT is to really understand the type of questions SAT is asking. If you're like me and prefer reading the passage thoroughly and then tackling the questions, this helps you anticipate what information to look for and eliminates the time you spend reading the questions. I still think reading the questions beforehand is a great strategy, but it doesn't work for everyone (like myself haha). Please take these tips with a grain of salt though, what works for one person may not work for another. Hopefully some people find this comment useful!

I remember going to SAT bootcamp in Korea and they always mentioned, "read the blurb" or "read the question first, read the passage but dont read the answer choices!" Never really understood why they said that, and I never had a reason to because covid knocked all my exam dates off the table anyways, but here I am a year later on the end of my gap year, about to take the SAT for an ROTC scholarship. I finally get what they were saying after watching this, so BIG THANKS!!
