この作品は同名の映画をゲーム化したものだが、映画のストーリーとは内容がやや異なる。バブモーダの住むノックマー城へと進む全6ステージ。
ストーリー:
ノックマーを支配する邪悪で全能の魔女バブモーダは、世界の大半を手中に収め、恐れるものはほとんどなかった。残虐な治世の中、唯一の気がかりは、いつの日か自分を滅ぼすであろうと予言された、子供エローラの存在だった。平和を愛する人々は、エローラを守り続けていたが、ついに力尽きてエローラを奪われてしまった。エローラを救出すべく1人の若者が立ち上がった。彼の名はウィロー。

Willow is a sideways scrolling platform shoot-em-up game loosely based upon the movie of the same name. Players take on the role of one of two characters: Willow Ufgood or Madmartigan. The hero's mission is to rescue the baby Elora Danan from the evil Queen Bavmorda and bring her back safely. If the quest fails, the Queen will plunge the world into darkness and chaos.
The game consists of 6 levels, each representing a scene from the movie. Defeated enemies drop gold coins that can be collected by the player. In addition, each level is littered with locked treasure chests that can be shot open and the treasure within collected. The gold can be used to purchase a number of weapons and character power-ups from a nearby shop (represented on screen by a wise old man). All power-ups will stay with the player until all lives are lost and the game is over.

There were so many great Japanese only games, back in the late 80's and early 90's that really deserved a translation.

当時のゲーセンで自分がワンコインクリア出来る数少ないゲームだった。
雪山事故らなければノーダメもそこそこいけた。
水晶の魔法まで購入した時の通常弾のデカさが好き。
クリアはできなかったけれど同じCAPCOMでも1943はラストまで行けた｡この頃はエリア88、ファイナルファイトと良作揃いでそのためだけにゲーセンに行ってた
学生時代にDVD借りて観たなぁ。
ファミコンやアーケードと違って、主人公のウィローは敵から逃げてばっかりだったのを覚えてる
There was a U.S. version of this in the local arcade many years ago. It had no documentation on how to play the game. The volume was so low, you couldn't hear the sound effects. I didn't even know this game had music. The music played here certainly isn't from the movie. It disappeared after two weeks.

This game was in the corner store in my grandparents neighborhood and it deserves top 10 best arcade games of all-time. RPG elements like a store and different upgrade paths, two different characters to play as and top-notch graphics and sound.

This game actually got an English release, though I never saw it until I played on emulator. It's pretty great.
I had the privilege of seeing the US version at a hotel in Las Vegas. Got to play it for about 5 mins before my family wanted to move on. Never saw it again after that. I remember being impressed with it for sure!

It was released in USA first, the last words at the ending are voiced in English (which may give you a hint.), though the words are in Japanese.

What was the point of running out the clock on the last battle so many times?
Points farming
The player also seems to be performing a trick; when he has only one life left in reserve and runs out the clock, he earned a million points at that instant! He got the points for beating the last boss AND got to go back into the stage and do it again. If he had just run out of health, that couldn't have happened.
Seems like if he timed it just right and struck the boss just as time ran out he would get the points for killing her yet also get a timer over. Thus another chance to kill the final boss and get the bonus points for killing her again. He only managed to pull the trick off once on his last to final life, so his first couple of attempts were indeed just a waste of time.

私､FC版を持ってましたがAC版もあったんですね｡FCは､ARPGだったのですが｡AC版は､ACGなんですね｡どっちも､原作の雰囲気があって良いです｡
ACとFCで全く違うゲームなのに両方とも面白い数少ないゲームですよね。
AC版エリア88ですね。開発ツールもシステムのフォーマットも同じだと思います。ドラムの音も同じなのでサウンドチップも同じか？
1面でわざと死ぬと竜巻が買えるんだけど、3面後半の船〜ボスでMAX魔法がゴールドじゃなくなるのでちょい苦労する

I don't understand why the player lets time count down ending all his extra lives. I've seen this a few times in replays on this channel and it makes no sense each time.

Points farming. The player attempted to beat her the same moment the time runs out to get additional 1,000,000 pts. They failed the first and second tries, but nailed it on the third.

ラスボスを普通に倒すと100万点入ってエンディングですが、倒したと同時にタイムオーバーになると100万点だけ入って再戦になるので残機潰して稼ぐ手法のようです。この動画では1回だけ成功していますね。

아니 막판에 보너스는 왜 사는거야? 이해가 안가네.. 막판 보호막 무기가 제일 좋은데
막판에 아이우치 하려고 사는거임, 최종보스를 격파하면 100만점이나 주는데 보스를 격파함과 동시에 미스가 나면 100만점은 100만점대로 벌어들이고 잔기 하나 소진한다음에 체크포인트로 되돌아감
