Death, you are doing fantastic. Your charisma alone makes your channel standout. The questions you ask that are tailored to help those who may be facing prison time soon.. just keep doin you bro. You're killing it. The guy you are interviewing really opens the door to show us what his experience has taught him. I love his perspective. He's got some really good points and phrases. SO GOOD
I have so much respect for this guy. He sees the big picture, and knows that he represents a lot of potential parolees. He knows that if he messes up, it is a bad look on granting parole. That is maturity. It isn't just about him.
In Michigan, you actually see one member of a 3 person board who decides your fate. You talk to them over video. Generally, if you’re in front of the board, one of the three members has already voted for your release. Then, the person you see signs your parole or denies, and it goes to a third deciding member. Five years ago, NOONE would get their first parole. We were given classes as requirements to go home, and were denied entry to the class UNTIL AFTER WE SEEN THE BOARD, and then given a 12, 18 or 24 month continuance. The system was a complete sham. It was all about keeping beds full. The parole board shouldn’t be there to re-sentence you. They should evaluate your behavior in prison and capacity for change. If someone gets a 5year min 20 year max sentence, the judge seen fit for you to go home with good behavior after 5 years. The parole board shouldn’t be able to say “due to the nature of your crime, we deny you parole.” THE NATURE OF YOUR CRIME NEVER CHANGES!Under a republican governor OR a privatized prison system, it’s all about making a profit off of prisoners: prisoners are a commodity to the state!
Best interviewee that I have watched in quite a while. Takes responsibility for his actions and this is by far his best attribute. Not many people do that nowadays. Much respect
This guy is a great listen, as someone from FL i love learning more about how the system works! You should make a plan of questions to ask this guy for one of the parts. I don't mind the discussion format, but this man is a WEALTH of information and wisdom that I don't wanna miss out on!

😆😂 No arson or sex crimes... "They didn't say murder!" This is one of the most powerful interviews I've seen of yours, Josh. This guy needs his own channel... I hope he starts one. I would love to know more about the victim's sister's mindset and how long it took her to be an advocate for him. I'm a family member of a murder victim in South Florida, and 13 years later I still can't forgive the murderer. He was a friend of mine at the time too. I hope someday I can, but I don't see it happening...
_ UNica _ we (Robert, myself and two other people who were juveniles that were also sentenced to Life and got released) have a channel in which we talk about this sort of stuff and hopefully she will come on the program at some point to talk about her experience of forgiving her brother’s killer. The link for the channel is in the comment pinned by Josh at the top of the comment section. If you want more information about healing and victim forgiveness, there is a program called restorative justice. There is a lady in Florida who is a big advocate. She and the person who killed her daughter and her grandson wrote a book together called Wildflowers in the Median about their journey to heal.
@Barrett Withers Yea, it was a funny comment actually, that Josh said. Did I say his crime was funny? Did you read any other part of my comment? Grow up dude.
Thank you bro for all your videos and solid material and content and hard work. this was a good one bro solid guy i am grateful and thankful we all have another chance at life out here i have been to the prisons out here in ca when i was 21 finally discharged when i was 29 thank you to you both for this interview take care and God Bless You Guys Bro!
I really appreciate all the work that Robert is putting in, getting his name and his story out here so he can help those who are still behind the gate get their chance at freedom. There are quite a few that got shut out when that small window with the courts closed and I personally know at least one who just needs to come home already. I cannot believe they still got him locked up-one of the most stand up people I ever met in prison. Anyway, I am more than impressed with what Robert has been able to achieve since he’s been out and I’m really proud and happy to be called his friend. He’s solid people.
As entertaining as the guys just telling crazy stories are, it's really cool to hear from a guy who has some really interesting thoughts about how to improve the prison and judicial systems.
@Harry Manback Yea, I get that... I'm sure there are a few people that have done so long they would rather be back inside. My whole thing is if that's where you'd really rather be, then just go.... It's not like it's very hard to go back there. If the dude in your example can't take it out here, then why doesn't he just go back? He sounds like he's miserable where he is now.
This is rare.. a true OG that you wouldn't even suspect. You always hear about treating people with kindness and you never know who someone is or where they've been. But this guy the real deal. Excellent interview thank the both of you
Hi. I've started to write this note 50 times, before. But, I was always conflicted, distracted, etc. and just never finished. Here goes .... I came across this channel while UA-cam 'searching' because I watched same subject video, before. It was the VERY beginning of this channel, and you could see that '23 and 1' was uneasy, inexperienced, and just ANOTHER felon who thought they could become famous by telling stories MOST people were never exposed to. I THINK I kept watching for this very reason. He wasn't very 'slick', but you could tell he was truthful, and not ashamed to 'put it out there'. Fast Forward to now .... I'm absolutely floored. It's amazing!! With every single episode, you could see '23 and 1' improve, and get better and better and better. If there might be ANYTHING to take away from this, it's just the 10,000 year old truth that: Every Person Can Change ...If they truly ..WANT TO. And the other, A person can get better at ANY craft, if they work hard at it, every day. As an 'old guy' it is SO COOL to watch people improve their lives SO MUCH. This really IS a great time to be alive !!
What's up Death, yeah, I spent 10 years in the Florida prison system, love your show especially with ex Florida inmates. It's a harsh system here I'm so happy for this guy! You have to take responsibility for your actions. That in part is what got me through. Keep up the good work!
Damn Death I've been watching your channel for awhile. Very interesting content for me, knowing that many times things could have gone another direction in this jank haha. This interview was amazing! Can't wait for part 2. Thanks man
This was the best interview that you have had, since I have been. The average American needs to see that all convicts are not gang bangin’ or under privileged. I’d like to hear how his experience was, being white in prison in FL. When I was it sucked every damn day!!! That’s after 22 years in the military.
Hi Josh, ONE OF THE BEST INTERVIEWS ON YOUR CHANNEL OR ANOTHER SIMILAR CHANNEL!! This individual sounds very educated and well read. How did he get there? And when did it take place? I THINK YOU SHOULD KEEP HIM ON AS LONG PEOPLE ENJOY HIS STORY!!!!
Hello, my name is Kim. I am the victim's sister. I am going to answer your question. Robert did not know me when this tragedy took place. I took it upon myself to contact him in prison with a little help from his mother. I simply went to the house that she still lived in at the time and if memory serves me correctly, I left a note and we set up a time for me to speak with Robert on the phone. Soon after I went to visit him in prison. We are very close and now he has become my brother. I have wholeheartedly forgiven him and love him unconditionally. I am so proud of the man that he has become. People do not quite understand our relationship but I have never given in to what other people might think. Few agree with my choice to befriend the man who murdered my brother. I know Robert is sorry for what he did and if he could undo that night, he would. I hope I answered your question without bending your ear too much. Regards, KIm
Monique Frasier youre an amazing example and person for your empathetic attitude and forgiving perspectives. if only more people could see things the way most of us do
@@moniquefrasier9466 that is truly amazing! You a very strong person and deserve a great deal of respect for being able to forgive this man for the terrible choice he made all of those years ago making a painful hole in your family. I dont know that I could be strong enough to do that myself. The inability to be able to forgive people who have done heinous things to myself as well as my family is definitely a serious weakness that I have. It always amazes me when people can forgive someone who has done similar things and it makes me try so hard to fix that weakness of not being able to forgive because it is so exhausting and painful to live life with constant hate and anger in your heart for someone who has taken from you, which in itself was already painful enough. People, including myself, should learn from your example! Respect!
There are plenty of ways to have sex in prison. Women and MEN Guards, GED teachers Chaplin's volunteers kitchen staff Dennis assistance registered nurses shit at some places you might be able to have sex at the visitation area depending if you got a cool officer or if he is trainable tell him $500 let you UA-cam about 10 minutes with your wife and he turns a blind eye then of course you have your inmates people are not getting raped like that in prison anymore they are having sex. Don't get me wrong rape still happen most of the time it's not rape though it's fucking. Also I would like to say I am a firm believer in juveniles some juveniles getting another chance at life depending on their charges do styes look like he has made a conscious effort to change his thinking and his behavior and use this second chance to make a better life for himself I don't believe every juvenile or criminal deserves a second chance though. Murder rape in any charges that involves a child I believe do not deserve a second chance murderer is a very wide range I've been crying and each case should be judge and looked after individually because someone could just be there and not even pull the trigger they could just be an accessory age and Circumstance RC tractors I do not believe everyone deserves a second chance at Freedom someone who goes out 21 years old and gets into an argument at a house party and instead of fighting he just pulls his gun out and shoot someone in the face they do not deserve another opportunity at Freedom someone who doesn't drive by shooting and kills a baby that's sleeping in their crib needs to write in prison and any man that rapes a woman forces himself upon her without her consent needs to get a life in a maximum-security prison what's a bunch of humongous men that booty rape torture and beat them or a daily basis and the ones that hurt and rape children need to be tortured meticulously every single millisecond of every second of every minute hour day and weak for the reminder of their shity existence they should not get the death penalty and get a lethal injection to where they just fall asleep and feel no pain in the family is left to suffer these people need to be tortured everyday God is the one who will have grace and mercy upon these sick demented pieces of shit he will forgive them could not. Also the level of remorse someone has as a child someone who goes in there and doesn't give a damn about them taking a life should just be locked away and throw away the key if he doesn't give a shitt then why should anybody else if someone cannot look at the family of their victims and apologize then they don't deserve freedom. I am huge on second third fourth fifth chances because God knows he has given me chance after chance after chance I am very thankful I've been to prison in three states and I have seen some very very crazy sick shit I meant people that in my opinion deserve another chance and then I have met people that I don't believe should ever have another opportunity to be out near children or women ever again because of the sick shit they have done in their past more than once or twice. 13 years in 3 states NC, GA, FL
That was the most intelligent, well spoken and intellectual Florida man I've ever heard. I don't know if he's the smartest man in Florida but most likely the smartest man in south Florida. But he did take a 30 year course in criminal psychology. He never got the certificate in paper form but listening to him talk for a a few short minutes and you know he knows things that most people don't.
His wherewithal to be aware that his life after prison reflects on how other’s can receive opportunities is fundamental and speaks to who he is as a man.
You never fail us with the interviews.🙏🏿🙏🏿 I'm really interested in hearing about Alaska prison, I hear snitching is not a big issue there. CRAZY! BUFFALO LUV
Death, mad props for everything you're doing. I actually believe this while thing is going to take off for you in different avenues someday. It might be that you have some sort of a law career or help advocate for people getting released, or just prison reform in general. Keep up the good work man.

It's not like it's very hard to go back there. If the dude in your example can't take it out here, then why doesn't he just go back? He sounds like he's miserable where he is now.
Most thorough guy you ever interviewed. No capping at all
Awesome interview. He's a really intelligent man.
This is rare.. a true OG that you wouldn't even suspect. You always hear about treating people with kindness and you never know who someone is or where they've been. But this guy the real deal. Excellent interview thank the both of you
hes been in prison 6 years longer than i been alive
Have a great weekend Josh. Best wishes to you and your family.
Look forward to part 2. Death always be keepin' it real 😎
can't even imagine being locked up 31 years....
Can't even imagine being locked up 31 DAYS.
Yoooo! Real talk this was inspiring to watch. Thank you for sharing. Super emotional on many levels.
Skin Kwon Doe facts 💯
Excellent work Josh. Wow! Absolutely brilliant interview.
This fella is so humble, even after everything he’s been through, and I’ve got the utmost respect for him.
He’s a great motivational speaker too 😊👍
Looking forward to part 2
Lol my boy prolly got more than one invisible ink tear drops
I'm sure he shed quite a few
Trevis Fletcher do you know what he talkin bout?
@@stkkamarion8712 my nigga do you homie liked my comment
Great épisode !👍🔥💯
(🇨🇭 from Switzerland )
Best guest yet I like the wisdom he has
Fantastic comment
What's up Death, yeah, I spent 10 years in the Florida prison system, love your show especially with ex Florida inmates. It's a harsh system here I'm so happy for this guy! You have to take responsibility for your actions. That in part is what got me through. Keep up the good work!
Best top 3 interview you ever done brother............. thanks
This is some REAL content Josh - kudos.
Subscribed yesterday or the day before because I think you're a genuine dude. Appreciate you bro and the videos you throw our way!
Damn Death I've been watching your channel for awhile. Very interesting content for me, knowing that many times things could have gone another direction in this jank haha. This interview was amazing! Can't wait for part 2. Thanks man
Lock down 23&1 Salute homie good content. Keep doing your thing. F what the haters say. Stay ☝ blessings
Wow probably my favourite guest Death has had on
Incredible. This guy doesn’t just seem like a normal guy, he seems like an unusually well adjusted, well spoken normal guy. Amazing!
This was the best interview that you have had, since I have been. The average American needs to see that all convicts are not gang bangin’ or under privileged.
I’d like to hear how his experience was, being white in prison in FL. When I was it sucked every damn day!!! That’s after 22 years in the military.
Awesome this guy made it out! Great video Death!!
Very possibly best one yet Josh...sincere redemption man.. salute
Congratulations brother I’m happy that you are out and that you have a positive outlook on life. Take care and God bless you with goodness.
That outro though! New layout looks good 🔥🔥
Hopefully, you get that 500k soon.
That's a huge milestone for your channel.
Wow , friggin amazing interview, well done 👏
This might be your best interview yet
Josh you smacked a homer on this one buddy, this is quality content. I can see you gaining ALOT from this guest...in many ways.
@LOCKDOWN 23AND1.. Nicely done Gentlemen, very informative and in-depth; look forward to additional discussions!
This is really a great story keep up the good work
Man that guy is real. Great video 💯. stay up
Hey Deathy Boy, I know you asked and people were skeptical about it, but the new video layout looks really professional! 😁
Sup Death enjoy rocking with you love your show
I can't wait for more parts. Dude is incredible.
I would really like to know how the relationship between him and the victims sister came about.
Monique Frasier youre an amazing example and person for your empathetic attitude and forgiving perspectives. if only more people could see things the way most of us do
Monique Frasier wow. This was a good read. Life is fluid and... complicated. I am glad you have found peace
Respect!
Great video Josh, can really relate to this guy, look'n forward to vol.2.
One of my favorite apps interview to date ! Keep up the great work ! Been here since 500 subs
Great interview Josh. I wish this gentleman well.
Wow! What an important interview.
Imagine going to prison 30+ years with no interaction with a women, just around straight men🙅🏽♂️😭😭
United States Of America 😂😂😭 Man hell yea😭😭😭 he probably didn’t lose his virginity till he got out😭😂😂😂
Sergio Martinez 😭😭😭 true

Great interview! glad you made it out..
Great one guys
Man dude is very articulate and remorseful and sooooo considerate of others especially other inmates
Excellent Interview sir!
This new recording video jank is nice man keep this up
Talking to a lifer is a different energy.
Ikr
Death I like the screen but I do like when it is bigger!!!! Thanks for the great content. Have Mitch from hard intentions back on homie!!!!!
Really like this interview death ! Respect
His wherewithal to be aware that his life after prison reflects on how other’s can receive opportunities is fundamental and speaks to who he is as a man.
This guy IS WAY better than the bulk of dudes from previous interviews.
So this story should be titled, "Public Defender Saves the Day!"
Brent Wood no Florida fuck up saved the day
Man this was a good guest! Watch what y'all are doing out there young men. You could wind up growing up and dying in that horrible place.
Welcome to the fresh air.... And blessings to you.... Big shout out to DEATH..for a great channel...
