It's crazy that you don't have 1M subscribers yet?! What is the world coming to?
If Henry did not get to drive the DB1R I'm unsubscribing in protest...
He said every car was his favorite car ever in every video😂
If there is one channel that deserves over 1 million subs, it's Carfection. Good luck!
Hi! Have you ever thought about driving a car without an A-pillar blocking your view in corners but with roof?
I still haven't seen a video discussing this topic and many cars today although very rigid, structurally, have really thick A-Pillars that block your view to the point of posing a risk to the driver or a person.
I think it would be really cool to discuss the topic, taking examples like the Chevrolet Corvair Tetsudo Concept, the Renault Trezor Concept.
I would love to see your take on that topic.
👍✌️
I would've retired after that McLaren F1, CLK GTR and 911 GT1 film because that looked like a trophy. But I'm not Henry Catchpole or Carfection which both seem to be striving for perfection. Excellent quality as usual.
I love watching Henry enjoy the different cars he gets to review but that smile sells it, what a beautiful pair of cars
C'mon Aston, let Henry drive the DBR1!
Indeed was gutted he didn't drive it ,still both beautiful machines
Aston might not own it, back in the day outdated racecars were regarded as worthless and often were sold on the cheap to drivers or team members who wanted it with the manufacturers often not keeping an example for themselves.
I have had the pleasure of meeting Brian Redman several times through my grandfather who is his friend and neighbor. Brian bought his 917 from Porsche in period when it was retired. He sold it in the late 90's or early 2000's for like $40k to pay some medical bills related to a crash, now it's worth like $15 million, talk about regret lol.
Aston may have borrowed this car from its caretaker for promo purposes so it might not be theirs to hand off to journalists. But whoever does own it should absolutely let Henry drive it and share its beauty with the world. Don't keep your light under a bushel and all that.
This car proves there's a need for the V12 Vantage to return.
nah, too heavy imo
@@Bruno-cb5gk I completely get that! But the Vantage, as it sits, really doesn't have that much carbon in it, and Aston had to make a much heavier duty chassis for this one considering that there's no roof. Even though it was based in their modular platform, it's not truly a Vantage, meaning it's going to be heavier. I'm sure they could work it out in order to make it light enough.
agree, but it can be also good to leave that generation as it was and as a good memory
Too heavy for a vantage, but the dbs, now we're talking!
V12 is a must in a dbs, forever..
@@Bruno-cb5gk cope
Suspension setup is perfect for sitting in someone's museum for the rest of its life
The trickle-charge connector is probably an optional extra...
Shame isn't it?!
@@actuallypaulstanley don't even think it is a shame.. dumb car made for the museum
s c I get it, but would be nice to think an owner would drive it once in a while...
@@actuallypaulstanley they will... to some car meet to display how rich they are
@@sc1837 well, let’s hope it is driven there and not trailered. These cars are essentially poseur cars, not for drivers; not at £765k!
I love seeing Henry's genuine childlike wonder and amazement when he's behind the wheel of these cars. He has an authenticity unlike any other journo and it's such a joy to watch and live vicariously through.
I hope Carfection knows, they have a rock star in Henry Catchpole.
Superb quality, as ever! Henry is the automotive journalist to beat!
Take him, Chris Harris and Jason Cammisa and make full on car show, please
I feel like they wouldn’t get along at all sadly based on what I’ve seen of their personalities
@@mitoswrc I'd rather watch each on their own. Not everything needs to be "Top Gear."
Y’all are making some of the best comparisons and reviews on UA-cam!
Henry we need you to do a video of Carroll Shelby driving that DB1 to victory. That story combined with excellent story telling and post production...id wager, both sides of the pond would enjoy that!
Yes, this!
Excellent review as always; Henry's really taken Carfection to another level.
I have fallen in love with this channel. Great work guys!
Your passion for cars is the best part of the videos.
Love how humble Henry seems about the opportunities he gets to drive or even some just in some of these priceless cars. Never seems to take the privilege for granted. Solid bloke.
Henry, mate, you are the best automotive presenter in the world my man, great job as always!
Beautiful cars (well, the DBR1), beautiful video.
Over the past few weeks it honestly feels like Henry (and the Carfection crew) are the hardest working people in motor journalism at the moment...
What a very pleasant way to spend 9 minutes. Thank you.
The DBR-1 is one of the very few cars that is objectively beautiful.
Ferrari 330P3/4 is another
And this speedster is defintely not... what an ugly and massive thing compared to the DBR
@@laurentmartin625 sadly I doubt the kind of people who luxury brands design these marketing-driven ‘special editions’ for care much for elegance
Magnificent design and engineering. And amazing content 😎
Henry feels like he is just a lover for cars and each video is a love letter to the car of the show. I love all of the content that he makes as each car is its own character, and you can see that with how he talks about them.
At last carfection review this v12 speedster. Glad to know more about it, not many review you find about just monza sp2/sp1 and elva.
Enjoyable as always, can you guys make longer videos?
The wet weather makes that car seem much more lovely, shots of it whiffing slick across cold damp tarmac is so cool!
Instant happiness when I hear Henrys voice
Yessir another vid🔥🔥🔥
Henry I wait for your videos. They tell a story line no other auto journalist…❤️
Another wonderfully made film, both presenter and production setting standards for car videos.
Best automotive journalist ever !!!
Carfection is really setting the standard for style, content and let’s be honest, everything car related right now.
Absolutely stunning
Love your passion for car's..
The speedster looks like a cool idea until you realise that probably have to sit there with a helmet on, looking like a knob.
Literally like a knob XD
@@thecompanioncube4211 I'll never understand why these types of cars don't come with proper yet super stripped down windshields. These silly brooklands styled deflectors seriously prohibit the use of the car. Imagine this car with twin fighter jet half canopies to match the rear. Harping back to the good old days simply for nostalgia sake is BS.
@@michaelhughes3302 As mentioned by Top Gear when they compared Mclaren Elva, Ferrari Moza and this, These cars are PURE toys for the rich. 0 Practicality and complete show cars to woo girls.
@@thecompanioncube4211 But you can't woo girls, if they can't catch a ride because their hair and makeup is a mess. It's literally the answer to a question nobody asked.
It's for driving slowly in California
The DBR1 side profile is reminiscent of a rolling breaker on the seashore. It is a thing of beauty.
Wonderful review of the new Aston, but the older one as you said is definitely the more beautiful of the two.
Lovely review as always, but...could you drive your dream car? Is there an exclusive DBR-1 video coming? I hope so!
I usually don't like to compare videos but oh my god. This is miles better than Top Gear's version. The TG presenter kept screaming and not going above 40mph so we could listen to him. A helmet and speakers were apparently out of reach for them 🤣.
Amazing as always Henry and the rest of Carfection team ❤️
nice ride!
what jacket are you wearing Henry?
I like it and want one too!
Thanks :)
Excellent video. Silly looking car... Looks sort of like a big green slug with a big mouth and some pointy lines on it. DBR1 is gorgeous. Catchpole is a legend.
Hopefully when you hit the million they'll let you actually drive the DBR1. In the meantime, a wonderful video as always!
Nice video. Thank you. No craziness....
There was a gentleman local to me that had an almost identical DBR2. What an awesome car! He had it for may years and recently sold it
I have a new car rating scale and I call it the “Henry Smile-o-meter”. The larger the smile on Henry’s face while he’s sitting in or driving a car the better it is. Using that scale that DBR 1 is off the charts.
literally lol'd at the "I had some ideas of where I'd like to drive it" bit :P
Henry having the best year ever in 2021, following up the F1, 911 GT1 & CLK GTR video with this?! Fair play to Carfection and everyone involved in these videos
6:39 - 6:54 Thanks for the laugh Henry! 😂
At first I was thinking l didn’t like this Aston Martin car but as your video played on it started to grow on me now l am a big fan of Aston Martin my favourite is the DB 6 not saying that others are not good hay who would not have a AM but in this new car l could see the old and the new pure class but speed WoW 😳 as always AM steps up thank you for your video 👏👏👏👏👍
Awe inspiring to me as a young F1 fan who missed the 4 wheel drifting and rawness of the 50s. The open cockpit gets me
Great review Henry and a car I have been very looking forward to coming out. It doesnt look like it disappoints at all and maybe a very good marketing move from Aston to differentiate them from Lamborghini etc.
Wow, Henry has such an enviable life.
The dbr1 is just magnificent
I always feel guilty watching these videos on my dinky little phone screen. Worth watching on a large quality screen to immerse myself. Ps
I'm impressed at the audio quality considering there's no windshield. 👏
The DBR1 is such a beautiful flowing design. My first Scalextric car was a DBR1. The closest I will ever get to owning one. For that matter, unfortunately, any Aston Martin. But watching your reviews, it is nice to dream.
Stunning review ! Can't wait for the battle with the competitors : Ferrari SP2 / Bentley Bacalar / Mclaren Elvia and the Aston Martin Speedster
The elva and the Ferrari Monza truly embody the open roof race car feel, the monza even more so with it’s NA 6.5 litre V12 and no air protection like the mclaren
I would have to say that it’s a beautiful Frankenstein 💪🏽🔥❤️
My god, that’s beautiful. Thank you 🙏
Well Henry, when you’re happy-I’m happy! So go ahead-enjoy it!😍
Awesome... simply awesome.
As a David Brown myself, it's quite fun seeing my name on an Aston badge in the very first shot of the film
That's the closest I'll ever make it to owning an Aston
Love it - looks like fun - just get stuck in!
Thank you
This is just lovely.
We should all be really thankful that we have Catchpole, his hard earned professionalism allow him to deliver reviews like this, hearing his passion for the DBR1 in a world of fake/money driven/latest collaboration/influencer/youtuber twats is the only sort of petrol head content I want to consume
Very true! He has the journalism background rather than the sensationalist background employed by “the twats”.
More amusing is a car that is bumbling through the wet English countryside at 40mph but is patently designed with 140mph in mind and a raft of sideways options for the more “influencer” content.
It's pretty cool Aston Martin are making these wild cars.
My only changes to the new car would be the naturally aspirated V12 of a couple years ago, as well as a proper manual transmission. My changes to Henry: none. Perfect presenter. You can hear so much emotion in his voice as he talks about the DBR-1. It is so wonderfully relatable.
2 masterpieces, noice
Beautiful car. Not for British weather though :) . Love the Felix helmet too!
We really need to see Henry drive the DBR1 soon :)
WOW. GOOD VIDEO FOR US
That metallic(?) green Aston Martin uses is gorgeous! What’s it called?
Absolutely Stunning. To the 11 -ve do they have a pulse..?? This is the reason I love cars.
I've been brought up a second generation mechanic and racing driver, the absolute worst thing you can do to your cars is not drive them. I shed a tear each time I see these gorgeous exotic and special cars sit for months on end only to need servicing and the owners question why or knock the brand in some way. On that note, what a lovely car. Not my cup of tea but very very cool.
4:38 “Then It’s also got the mechanical ‘bliberty slip dif’... from the DBS”!
😂🤪😝🤣🥜
Spectacular pair of Aston Martin, I felt the same same way about the Jaguar XKSS, and in my channel i uploaded Steve McQueen's actual, in 360 VR interactive : XKSS currently at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles California.. I couldn't touch her let alone sit in it.. boy those long hard drives up and down Mulholland Drive he took... It is estimated his car can sell for $48 million USA. Thanks, for an awesome wet Canyon Roads demonstration. 👦🏻👍🏻🗻🏞🏎🏁
Aah now it all makes sense - I saw one of these with a bit of disguising carbon style wrap a few months ago coming out of Stratford Upon Avon with a DB SUV thing behind it - wondered if it was a film car being tested/delivered - clearly not - I think it could be a splendid car when they have finished it - you know put a roof on etc.
This car is a modern masterpiece! Amazing!
A modern atrocity more like
pure goosebumps
That is one happy Henry ...
Funny the difference between art and engineering. Both have a place. The difference is so clear.
Henry in that DBR1 looks like a dad trying to fit into there kids lil tikes car
Does anyone know the name of the piano song in the beginning of the video?
I would have loved the exhaust to be side mounted. Not only it would be a tributte to the original but would probably improve the engine note that is hearable until the wind cuts it out.
Is this speedster can be trend maybe for supercars in future ?.Well hope so
Is the current vantage getting a v12 engine?
I really need to find out the paint code for this green! 😍
@hyper Nope. At that time they had 2 green colours for road cars: Aston Martin Goodwood Green and "California Sage". Look: www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/manufacturer_color_aston_martin
The DBR1 shown here had a bespoke colour that may match R3212 (green metallic). Just a guess.
The kind of amazing car I'd be much happier seeing drive by me than owning.
Does anyone know which Barbour jacket Harry is wearing here?
we need a dedicated DBR1 video with Henry
I hope you got to drive the DBR1 🙏
Mercedes AMG: 2l hybrid
Aston Martin: V12 twin turbo
I love it
I typically love modern design far more than classic design, but there are some exceptions. The DBR1 is a big one. It is far and away more beautiful than not only the V12 Speedster, but almost anything else. The 50's and early 60's era race cars were just so gorgeous. We've never really had another design era quite like it. It would be hard to choose between a DBR1 and a Ferrari 250 GTO.
DBR1 is a stunner. Ferrari 330 P4 is up there as well.
Please feature a Stirling Moss SLR.
Wouldn't be a British car video without an overcast opening scene
This pinnacle of British optimism. Making a car with no roof in England
"People probably thought I was mad or perhaps just British, when they saw me in it" lol.
Hopefully Henry gets the chance to drive the car again in the dry, maybe sunny warm weather. Italy maybe a bit optimistic.
For some reason I don’t know why but I just love the Speedster
It feels like you’re driving a vintage racer
3 pedal option?
That smile
