A fisheye lightburn camera??

  • While building my newest enclosure, I decided to make it lower and lighter weight. In doing so, I was afraid that a camera for lightburn would not be an option. I looked up some information and decided to try a fisheye lens. Here is the results. Mounting height is 11 3/4 inches above the honeycomb rather than the 20ish inches of flat lens cameras. I have made the file available on my etsy store.
For templates that I have made, check out my Etsy shop. I build files for projects and tools for laser engravers.

Thank you! This inspires me to put a camera in my enclosure.

You did a very new nice job on the enclosure and camera setup and portable Clack Shack. This display should peak some interest in lasering (should be a word). Really enjoying your channel.

I homed my laser every time prior to burning the same design, same place and it was spot on. If I did not home it, it was off just a lil.

There may be slight variations but cameras are a really useful tool.

I enjoyed the video, and I always find your channel inspiring, however I wanted to let you know your audio got pretty poor once you started calibrating. Very distorted on my device (gain too high, perhaps), so that might be something to look into for the future.

yea, the mic doesn't like the PC. I have gotta figure out why it doesn't play well.

That is a great camera video, I keep wanting to know where you buy the safety laser glass for your box.

Your misalignment may be partly due to the material thickness. You calibrated with paper but then burned on wood that is much thicker. You can do a calibration for each thickness of material you commonly use. That would show up more though towards the outer edges.

I use the same method and do not have any issues. I have a total of 4 cameras. Usually a recalibrate fixes the issue.

I purchased this camera and could never get a good lens calibration. I tried several times without success. I am going to try something else. Hopefully one that I will have better luck with.

Did you do full calibration as standard lens? That is what I use and have really good luck

@@TheClackShack Yes, I followed your video to the t. Could have just been a bad camera. I am going to see what else I can find to work with.

Am I understanding correctly that you used a fisheye camera, but didn't do fisheye calibration?

I did full calibration as a standard lens

Thank you question if I calibrated and need to again at a later time can I reuse the 1 2 3 4 paper again or do I need to reburn another?

You have to redo the burn pattern, It uses it to calibrate based on the machine movements.
