Im a 66 year old , victim of DV, I was married at 16 and didn’t know what was happening, I thought for 10 years I was a bad wife, the last time was the last time, if I didn’t save myself then, he was going to take my life. My heart hurts for you, Surrounded yourself with the people who Love you, get counseling, You are in my Prayers 🙏🙏
I went through this for 9 years. Same thing. I loved him and felt like I was hurting him by reporting him. Its a horrible place to be. So glad she made it out. 💜 prayers for you and your healing. 🙏

Ppl also don’t understand what someone abusing you does to your self esteem. Even after the first time it happens. It’s such a mental warp. I cant even find the words to really explain what it does to you mentally. It’s so easy to say “why didn’t you just leave” when that person is so messed up mentally & your self esteem has just been squashed to nothing.
This is the best episode. My situation is not physical abuse but definitely verbal abuse with so many similarities. Thank you so much for bringing this to the forefront

I’m now 62 but at the age of 14 I got pregnant and had a baby at the age of 15. The father was extremely abusive, he basically came to my house took me and the baby and took us to his mom and dad‘s house and I was told he will kill me if I leave.. so this was back in 1976, even if you called the police nothing would happen. He beat me at least twice a week, One time he kicked me in the face with steel toed boots on and broke my nose. Loaded guns were held to my head multiple times as he was going completely nuts!! Getting away from him was even scarier than being there with him. But at the age of 17 I made a plan with a friend of mine so that when he went to work that night she was gonna come and get me and I was gonna load up me and the baby stuff who was two at the time. Another friend’s mother said we could stay there for a while, when I showed up at their house with my baby my friend came out and said her mom changed her mind😢.. The stalking and abuse I endured for approximately two years after leaving was unreal. I was 17 without a car without a drivers license and without a job. Instead of anybody helping me his mother told me she would take temporary custody of my daughter so I could get up on my feet. I did that and it was a mistake once I got up on my feet got a car got a little apartment and wanted my daughter back they told me to get a lawyer!!! PTSD is real for victims of abuse. You may think you’re being strong because I did and I felt like everybody who miss treated me I was flipping them the bird as I got up on my feet and become a strong woman.
You are strong and brave!my mum went trough a violent marriage ,and I thank God everyday she is safe now!❤️

I whole heartedly agree. You don't cut someone off in conversation unless you have to go to commercial. Savannah doesn't. Maybe she just gets real into the story.
Agree. It's a bit annoying that she doesn't allow her guests to finish a sentence before she jumps right in with her commentary. A little more patience in listening is all she needs.
Stories from other podcast done prior to this is different. 🤷♀️

I loved this one. Crazy I am also from Utah but didn't grow up religious. This is how is is here though for religious families. Coming from an abusive relationship when I was younger this was good to watch. Love all your courage. ❤️
This is why i want to open a shelter here in vegas so badly! And i wish the atate would support myself and my sister doing ghis. They will open a rehab before they open another shelter. And i cant stand the shelters we have now they do nothing to actually help ghese women. They need actual support to prevent from going back. And we keeo hitting dead ends. But im not stoppign we will daise the money and we will ger it open vecause i truly believe that if you can prevent return you can prevent a cycle.
My first thought was why didnt the 911 operator see what tower her phone was pinging off of the first time? They literally can figure out where you are at other times, i feel she could have been saved earlier. Powerful story, such a brave soul

What I don't understand here is this, she knew her first husband , the father of her teenage pregnancy, wasn't going to last. How did she not see that this wasn't going to last? He would have killed her with that knife I truly believe. I'm glad she is OK. I fear that later he will take revenge. I hope not. These type of men are crazy. They will sit their time out and stew for as long as it takes. She should change her name and location just to be even safer.
I went thru a very similar situation. Unfortunately, jail time doesn't change these abusers. I was stalked, my child was stalked and I ended up having to move away and legally change my name. It was such a difficult thing to do but now I'm married to the most loving man. It does get better after you ride out the storm. So glad this young lady is following thru with pressing charges. I think she needs to plan on how she'll deal with this after he gets out of jail bc they do get out. Thank you Savannah for bringing awareness to this delicate topic.
She can't not change her name or location. She is a HUGE influencer so even if she did people would find out who she is. But her company that she has thrives off of her being on social media. The thing is abuse is a crazy thing. Your Brian literally tricks you. Do you ever notice when youre in a normal relationship and you know things are done your brain is almost disconnected before your heart? Thats actual science happening, because you have already mentally disconnected. You are not staying in the relationship because of logic you're staying because your heart is reacting to memories. Well it's actually the opposite in a abusive relationship your heart disconnects BUT your brain does not because they are constantly playing your mind, so it's actually you thinking you're Loving them and you think your heart is attached to them when in reality your brain is having trouble disconnecting. It's very very complicated and related to science.
Why didn't they ask her for the license plate on the truck she was hiding behind, that may have given the police an address.
Maybe we should stop asking “why didn’t you leave, or why did you go back”, and start holding abusers accountable 🤯. I mean, if they want to be out here swinging on people, they shouldn’t mind getting swung on.
No because it’s important to know the dynamics of psyche of someone in a domestic abuse. It’s equally as important to educate people on why people don’t leave. So these questions are important l. I do think she’s pulled the trigger on speaking on it too soon. Cause once he gets out of jail and sees this it will be revenge. I believe this girl and her kids are not safe. I get wanting to share and take back your story but she should have given it time. I mean look at how she made a video and he flew to her, broke into her house and had a knife. Safety to family should be way more than social media and views.
My greatest prayer for you is to stay away from Tennessee and him. You need immediate therapy and you’ll figure out how to support yourself. Your children need there Mom . There is no next time !!! I lived in this as a child and in a relationship, Please get help for you right now ! In time you can help others.
Did the court have web video court? Also I'm surprised crime victims didn't get a hold of her. This happened to me in the 90's in Tooele, Utah and crime victims reimbursed me.
I hope women learn how to protect themselves with more force than a cell phone, because the police don't get there in time. This story is horrifying.

The fact that he had a knife when he broke into her house and yet she’s saying she doesn’t know what his intentions were shows how blinded she still is. Apparently she’s never watched true crime before.

Then at the end of the podcast she was still saying that speaking out helps her remain accountable to not go back which is absolutely wild that she’d still need help to not go back to a potential murderer - I really hope she’s in therapy because I think there is something very deeply off about the extreme fog that abuse victims live in like maybe it’s something that stems from their childhood or something idk@@Lisa-cg9tm

He not only hit you, he strangled you. If I was in that situation and had my child , I would never have sympathy and go back to someone who hit or strangled me and jeopardize the life of my child by having someone like that in my life.
I rlly wouldnt judge until ur in her situation… u have no clue wtf you would do or how strong u would be until you are actually IN the situation and faced with a manipulative abusive person. Im writing this cause i thought exactly like you when i was younger and before i found myself in a situation like this….
NEVER judge another person's situation and actions. I used to say the same thing until I found myself with an abusive man and it's not as easy as ppl think to get out and leave. Esp when you have kids and are financially dependent on them. It took me 2 years to leave my abuser and it was extremely difficult to go thru the whole court process. There just isn't enough or adequate support for ppl in abusive relationships. I hope you never experience this.

Regardless how she was treated (and it's horrible!) why is this mother of 4 living a life of a single woman seemingly without responsibilities? What is she doing traveling around? Who's with her kids? Why in the world did she get into any relationship at all? She needs a healthy dose of Dr. Laura!
She co-parented with her ex husband. She is entitled to a life outside of the times she is with her kids. Maybe less judgement and a bit more kindness to a very brave woman who went through a very traumatic period in her life.

Has anyone watched her first podcast interview? She truly tells a different story from other one to this! Example she said in this interview she didn’t let him in (hid in basement) when he last flew to her home but on other interview she says she let him in? 😏
With trauma and especially abuse your memories can get a bit jumbled. It sounds like he was abusing her very regularly so it’s going to be hard to talk about and remember the order of events clearly

I’m sure Mickinli won’t read this- however you’re not safe hun. He knows where your new house is. As badly as you want to decorate and enjoy your new house…you cannot stay there. It’s not safe. He could also target your children as revenge. None of y’all are safe. The longer he stays in jail, the madder he will become. I know that moving sucks and you’re already having to deal with so much, but your safety and your children’s lives are more important than anything else. I’m still running from my ex. It’s been 20 years. He never goes away. He always tries to find us. The first time started a month or less into your relationship, he will absolutely kill you, and your kids/
She has proven she has no self worth by continuing to go back. She needs help for that. I hope for her own self and children she gets the help she needs.
