This was such a shocking and traumatic story and it must've been so difficult to share. Denise is so inspiring, you can see her kind and beautiful soul radiating through her despite all she has been through. I have full faith Denise will have a lifetime of happiness and healing through her life
To have gone through such trauma and still want to devote your life to helping others, you’re a walking angel and the world is lucky to have you Denise. I hope you find more healing and thank you for sharing something so personal and vulnerable.
These monsters always try and destroy kind, intelligent, beautiful and caring women. How could anyone hurt her like this. It's just so evil and so ridiculously pointless. What has he gained by doing this? It's absolutely disgraceful.
Although our journey to our trauma may be different, a lot of this I resonate with. I felt so much anger when I heard prisoners can get pretty much instant access to a psychologist. I’m on an 18 month waiting list for my ptsd psych referral. What else resonated heavily is you’re left to pick up the pieces for what they’ve done. Despite all of the resources available, you’re left to pick things back up. Navigate relationships, jobs, day to day etc. It feels almost impossible to continue after traumatic situations. But we can show people that we’re here in spite of it. It doesn’t define us. Thank you so much for sharing your story. I still find it difficult to talk about my experiences, but I know that by sharing your story, you will help so many people feel like they’re not alone. Thank you Denise.
What a podcast 😢 what an inspiration. Thankyou for sharing your journey. As tough/triggering it can be it can also save another life. I wish you the very best future 😘
I wish I'd known about love bombing before getting into my previous relationship. So scary how that works. I'm so glad she got away, such a strong lady!!
😭😭 just took me hours to watch this, very hard hitting especially when you have been there yourself 💜 one year out and only starting the healing process you are a inspiration this story will help others xx
Doesnt matter how smart or strong you are all it takes is for a moment in your life of weakness and they can pick you out from the crowd. Women and young girls need to be taight in school about preditors period.
Well done for speaking out about all this you went through! It's hard to speak up. I went through some serious sh!t and stayed with them because I knew I was stronger then others so stayed in the relationship to save someone else but I had to get out. And when I did I didn't tell a soul what happened and my family will never know because they don't need to. I have moved on and healed best I can. It takes bloody ages to get over it all. I still have ptsd from it all and flinch or say sorry for no reason etc my husband just holds me and says I'm safe over and over and I am thank fully xxxxx
Thanks for sharing Denise.. Had a similar story myself and everything you say resonated with me. There should be a register for these men like there is for sex offences
Can so relate to this, the live bombing, the boundaries and feeling embarrassed knowing youre being manipulated but feeling trapped to get out. Such a strong beautiful woman. So glad she got out. I was also in the caring profession and these guys definitely seek out caring people.
Oh Denise you poor beautiful lady.. god I hope and pray you get over this. I was stabbed at work and I have terrible ptsd . Sending love to you you’re a very strong person ❤️❤️❤️
This is such a good podcast. Denise tells her story so eloquently and the hosts are very compassionate and let her speak. Unfortunately I have heard many elements of this story before and this is harsh warning of how quickly things can escalate. Denise you are an amazingly strong women and I’m sure this will help other women.
Wow. Denise thank you for sharing your story. Your strength, light and resilience are your superpowers. I hope and pray with every ounce of my faith that the monster gets what he deserves. Your safety and your family's safety are more important than our flawed justice system feeling good about rehabilitating offenders. He deserves to rot. You are an inspiration and a positive light for so many. Wishing you all the happiness and healing you deserve.
Thank you for sharing this, I know it wouldn’t have been easy. The system is so wrong. My ex emotionally abused me the whole relationship and only ever put hands on me the night I tried to leave him. To this day, I can’t get a restraining order because in their eyes, he hasn’t done enough. Yet he has done everything this horrible person done to you running up to attacking you, to me. But it isn’t enough. I live in fear everyday in case I bump into him or he turns up to my work or house. I’ve tried to reach out for help and I haven’t gotten it after explaining everything, and it angers me so much that if he was to get locked up; he’d get it right away when he was never the victim. We wonder why people stay in relationships when we know we’re safer that way, no matter how much it wrecks us.
that's a great statement Denise says when "she valued his safety more than your own".. speaks volumes .. delighted Denise is looking so well .. Way to girl !!🍒
Such an amazing woman who has taken her horrendous lived experience and grown from it. So intelligent and articulate and shows that this is NEVER the fault of the abused. I'm sure this podcast will give so many others the strength to change their situation.
Such wise words "givers need to set boundaries because takers never will" , you can tell she is such a loving caring person . Heartbreaking to listen to
You are truly amazing and inspiring for sharing your story Denise. i really hope that you can heal from this. And get the justice you deserve 🥰 I can relate to this because i went through similar myself.
The bastard needs putting down , you are a brave woman don’t ever let anyone eve4 tell you differently you did nothing wrong. I wish you all the best for your future xx
What a lady you are Denise. Your trauma has only made you stronger and a more beautiful person, if that was even possible ❤. I wish you nothing but peace and happiness in the months and years ahead. Go and be happy. You are an amazing human being. God bless you🤗😘🩷🩷
Thank you Denise, I am so sorry for what you have been through, I have no words 😢 you are an inspiration & a very brave Lady, I wish you all the best for your future. I was in a controlling & abusive relationship & I haven't been with nobody in almost 14years, but from listening to you, I hope & pray that I can take alot from this & start living. God Bless you Denise ❤🙏
So right. When I tried to leave an abusive relationship five years ago I was held captive at gun point. Three days without access to a bathroom. No food. Repeated sexual abuse. I used a cup for a toilet and disposed of contents through a small crack in a window when ever he went out to eat. I managed to escape when he was asleep. I’m still hyper vigilant. I had counselling for ptsd. Still get triggers of panic from certain words and I still get nightmares. But I’m a survivor not a victim now. CBT therapy helped me with irrational thoughts. I carry an alarm everywhere with me.
Beautiful strong woman. Truly a heart of kindness. The fact you were also worried about him says a lot about your character. But I resonate with the you’ve had a hard life it doesn’t make you cruel. But being kind doesn’t mean giving in, it means you own your life. You dictate who deserves your kindness
What a wonderful articulate strong woman ❤horrendous domestic abuse she was exposed to ,so glad she lived to share her story x best wishes to you Denise God bless
As hard as that was to listen too, this lady has helped so many people see how easily it is to be manipulated and not see it happen 😕 i wish u well ❤❤❤❤
Wow what an inspiration this woman is so strong 💪🏻 can completely relate to this abuser receiving resources straight away from prison and then survivors (victims) left on waiting lists the system is so flawed!
Denise is truly strong and inspiring. Her story made me so emotional and sick just at the thought of someone having to go through something so traumatic and life changing. I hope you live your life to the fullest and know you are amazing ❤
She's wrong about the rehab centres. There s.r coselios in Newry. Asha house in omagh. Ward 15 in Downpatrick and northlands in derry. I've suffered addiction for years. I'm going back to asha for treatment next month. I get those injections gave to me to save me from overdosing. I'm sober at min tho 😊x
Not to be rude or nothing but this isn’t about you she’s telling her trauma and all you can say is she’s wrong then continue talking about yourself and about how you’re sober yes it’s a good thing that you’re sober but you couldn’t have even said I’m so sorry or I’m glad your better now that is her point of view on rehab centres I’m sorry if that offendeds you but she clearly is traumatised and was struggling and it probably took a lot for her to do this and your too busy worrying that she didn’t think that there was rehab centres that help in Northern Ireland
To clarify I wrote this comment before I seen her full story and feel like a right dhead now!! This girl suffered the most traumatic time!! So glad she's doing better and got away from that monster. Big respect 🙏 👏 🤍🤍
Thank you for giving her the space to speak without interrupting, so respectful🙏🏼 thank you for sharing your story Denise❤️

Some of those are for alcohol only and won't accept deug addiction referrals

Out of all she has spoke about, that's what you took from this???
