    Hi mate, great video! I am rebuilding my engine 230ce, but I stuck with vacuum lines, the ones you connected there, would you be able to send me a video or photos how they are connected on yours? so I can copy and connect mine in the same order, please? Thank you :)

      Hello Lukasz, thanks for watching! Unfortunately I don’t have the car any more so I can’t double check how they are connected 🙁

    Hello. Were there any engine symptoms? Was the valve mechanically damaged?

    • @JAYPCARS
      @JAYPCARS  Рік тому

      From what I remember, terrible idle and having to hold revs for a few minutes when starting up or it would stall. The only obvious damage was a snapped plastic piece meaning one of the hose pieces wouldn’t stay in place.

      Hello, I think I just changed it out because the symptoms the car was having pointed towards the valve.

    What are the other sensors around them? I'm having poor start up but after the car heats up to 60 degrees it's fine

      There’s a number of things it could be. I’ve changed the OVP relay, cleaned the ICV and a number of things I can’t remember off the top of my head.

    Hi, what does thermovalve work for?

    • @JAYPCARS
      @JAYPCARS  3 роки тому

      Hi, as far as I’m aware it’s for the evap system. It burns vapour and sends it to the carbon canister to help reduce emissions. Some say it’s for when engine is cold, it activates and helps start the car when cold. Haven’t found a 100% definitive answer as to which it is.

    • @jayzhead

      It regulates ignition for cold starts. As far as I know that's all it does. Also, it doesn't matter which vacuum hose you connect to which prong, it is a throughput system. It acts as a valve in the middle of the vacuum hose and thus it doesn't matter as long as both sides are connected. My W201 also had one prong brake off, so while I was waiting for the month-long shipment (from Lithuania, it seems half the merc parts on ebay are there) I just connected the vacuum hoses to each other with a piece of plastic hose and the car worked fine in the meantime. Only the revs were a bit on the high side because as far as it was concerned the valve was always "open" so the engine was always reported as "cold" even though it wasn't.

      @@jayzhead hi . My question is does this valve influence fuel consumption? My mercedes 190 diesel 2.5 5 cylinder should consume 6 liters per 100 kms outside the city. Now it consumes nearly 8 liters . I have no fuel leaks whatsoever anywhere. The o rings et copper spacers have been changed on the injection pump . What can i check ? I have also another air control valve for the intake manifold which works electric and with air too. Thanks.
