Blocking tactics to mess up your opponents

- In this video I show you how to use your block shot to frustrate and beat your opponents.
You normally use a 'block' to return your opponent's topspin attacks. But don't think of the block as merely a passive, defensive shot. If used well, you can turn defence into attack, force your opponents to make mistakes or even hit outright winners.
In the video I focus on four different blocking tactics you can try. These are the switch block, the fast block, the slow block and the chop block.
Try them all out. You will find some easier than others. But the most important thing is try and mess up your opponents! Good luck!

Angelo Cruz what do you think is better doing table tennis lesson or self train
@@Neto-hu7fl lessons are always FASTER. however, BETTER depends on the player.
all the employess who start playing in the office.
Seriously...Very helpful...!!!
In this case you won’t face people that can do top spin
I have watched many of your videos and guess what, I am now easily winning my playing partner who was usually winning , great coach
Great stuff. Always nice when you start beating someone you couldn't before. Keep up the good work!
I finally find how called my favorite type of blocks - this is a "chop block"! My friends very dont like it because they cannot effectively counter it and lose ball in more then 70% times!
Koki niwa has absolutely mastered the chop block. It just insane in the way he turns the game. A brilliant tutorial though.
Yes - his chop block is amazing and looks so effortless. Wish I could do it like him!
@@TomLodziak lol
@@artnandavns why lol?
I realized just now that I do the slow block to counter the speed 'rather unknowingly'. Thanks for the sum up. I will apply in my upcoming tournament.
Good luck for your tournament!
Good blocking tactics, appreciate it! I just want to say, that I’m not using blocks so often, but when I use them I usually use the first block you mentioned, it’s probably the best. My tactic then is just to make some blocks and then change to attack when the ball comes right and the opponent doesn’t expect it. mostly a backhand loop or forehand topspin attack. :)
My office mates have no clue; wt's coming up on there way! :)
Mine too 😊
So how did it went
Haha
😂
Hahaha
As usual excellent tips! I´ve found them very usefull. Thanks!
Coach Tom: Thanks again for a great lesson. The methodical way of your teaching is really helpful. - Philip From Taipei, Taiwan.

of course my opponents are mostly playing offensive and thats how i developed my blocking skills(kinda...)
and watching this video now makes it even easier for me
thx dude keep up the good work!

Thanks for watching!
Yes i like ur techniques, tq
Best coach..to me newbie player tenis
Thank's mr.tom lozdiak😁
Top info as usual.... Awesome
Gr8 tips here ... cheers tom
In my opinion, the chop block only be used when you are out of your position so it is just for remedial usage but not use it when you are well prepared
Then see koki niwa he always in position
Joevy YT It depends if you are good at it and what rubber/blade you use. Using a specialist chop rubber, absolutely no one should be able to anything but push back your chop if you do it properly.
Yes, Thank You So Much, Tom! Like all your videos! Great job!!! #Impressive #Teachings #Education #Teacher
Thankyou so much sir for helping me to improvise my skills.... If possible make a video on improvising backhand.....
Excellent. 👌 Be practicing that chop block 2moro.
Thank you!
Thanks coach.
Simply great.
wot a wiz Tom! Thanks VERY MUCH. Roy
awesome! i need to practice my backhand more
Keep Uploading Tom tnks....
Very useful,I win more matches against my friends now.
But the switch block does not really help cause my friends stand in the middle of the table.
But still the rest are great.
Your videos helps, thank u so much. :)
I think i am going to be an athlet of tennis table after watching and practicing all of ur video .. thanks tom
Cool tom. Thanks

Things got escalated quickly
that was very useful thx for making this vid
I agree with you because your theory is near to mine.
Ito mima mainly use this block + switch angle/ smash / flat hit / frick / push
Great video. I do some of this but I’m gonna start thinking about which one I’m doing more. Except chop block. That looks crazy difficult haha
I will have a tournament soon, thanks for this helpful video👍🙏
Neo x ml same, i am a very defensive player and a pusher partly. I kill my opponents with my chops and drives.

I love your videos 😍 Jeep oploading Quality material
Good video! Blocking is so underrated. ma long is the best because he can starts his offense with good defense
What if u do the fast block and u miss it
Chop block is difficult and requires intensive practise. Switch block is highly effective. Should aim for corners
Good training...
Really nice.
Good morning! blocking killerspin the best form of hand technique.
Oh great !, thanks a lot.
The thing about these videos -- and I think it's probably inevitable -- is there's very little that these people who have spent years perfecting these specific, minute movements can actually say to teach you to do it like they do. They can make it look easy, but the reality is that none of it will be easy for you unless you're already well practiced and fundamentally quite solid.
thanks.... 🙏🙏🙏
Enjoyed a lot aaaaa...., പൊളിക്കും
Thank you
This was my dads game, he was heavy and couldn’t move well. He was a master at it. We had him play one of the best players in the USA years ago. But we didn’t tell him who it was. My dad always played with the view that you were taking food from his family, so he was able to beat him every time. The man said to my dad that he’d never seen anyone play that good with blocking.
I'm pretty good at the first three types of block. Time to start training the chop block!
Very nice
Nice
you are a great coucher 😊
Do you think that chop block can be a good option for someone using defensive stuff like tackiness chop II 1.9 or feint long II?
Good one
Are you TT PLAYER??
Tkank mr tom
Wow~~
What i need
Thanks
What is the best table tennis racket to achieve spin and speed? Killerspin, Stiga? Also are there unbranded rackets that aren't expensive on the market but achieve the same result of spin and speed?
These containment tactics are the best defense for energy savings!!!
nice i subbed ;)
Great
does this also work against Defensive spinny players or should you actively change to loop against non-attacking shots?
nice!
It's useful one
Thanks,
Hey, I think that you should create a new video as a part 2 to this, Tom.
You need to tell people what they have to do with their feet immediately after each of these styles of blocks. It's incredibly important. You know this firsthand since those particular foot movements after blocks are a huge thing holding your level of play back.
I actually think it's more important to teach TT players how to think about their next actions as soon as they finish each shot. It's where every single player on earth falters at multiple points in every single match. The higher the level, the less faltering there is. But, it's never NONE for anyone. And clearly, there's a major correlation between level of play and footwork. And as you look deeper into it, you find that footwork IS partial causation for level of play.
So, since you struggle with the exact thing I'm talking about, why not make a part 2 to this and help the TT playing world out + practice something you should currently be working on personally, and kill two birds with one stone?
Excellent! I like to use it, especially unexpected, quickly off the bounce. Might I add another? To target the opponent's transition point, especially if pen holder. My Chinese friends referred to it an an "embarrassing point"!
Yes agreed, the crossover is another very good position to block to, especially if you block fast.
What paddle do you use, Tom?
